Why Test?
To effectively manage its human capital, an organization needs to have as much information as possible. Unfortunately, the employee requirement and management process is too often clouded by subjectivity and incomplete information to be as effective as it could be.
Testing applicants and employees can clear the air by providing the following benefits:

How To Choose a Test
There are literally hundreds of tests available that an employer may use. Excluding the specific skills tests and honesty/integrity tests, most employers that use testing want to know about an individual’s mental abilities and personality traits. And, they want to know how a person’s scores compare to the job requirements.
So, how do you choose a test that is right for you? Consider the following:
What Is Measured
Mental skills or intelligence testing alone is an inadequate predictor of successful job performance. An analysis of an individual’s personality without insight into how that person learns and processes information is incomplete. Since both are needed, you should choose an instrument that combines mental and personality measurement in one tool.
How Results Are Presented
Most tests provide single score or pass/fail scoring. While easy to interpret, such scoring systems can be difficult to link directly to job requirements, and often lead to over-reliance on test results and subject users to compliance and litigation concerns. Choose a test that provides scores on a scale that can be related to the Normal Distribution (Bell Curve) and that easily relates scores to the job requirements, preferably by means of a benchmark of successful performers.

The Achiever Pre Employment Assessment : Consult Aarambh
The Achiever encompasses aptitudes and behaviors required in a job. The Achiever report can be based on your organization’s job description, people who are successful within that job for you now or successful people in the same job in other companies in our industrial database.
It takes approximately 50 – 60 minutes to complete the assessment.
The Achiever is an in-depth pre employment assessment that measures the following six mental aptitudes (cognitive abilities) and ten personality dimensions exhibited within an individual as they relate to the job the individual is being assessed for:
Mental Aptitudes
Mental Acuity - learning, judgment, problem-solving and reasoning ability Business Terms - knowledge of basic business terms Memory Recall - knowledge of current events Vocabulary - general English vocabulary Numerical Perception - ability to handle numerically related tasks quickly and accurately Mechanical Interest - interest in the mechanical area
Personality Dimensions
Energy - energy and drive level; how tension and stress are handled
Flexibility - integrity, reliability, dependability and work ethics
Organization - ability to plan and utilize time wisely
Communication - individual's desire to meet and interact with people
Emotional Development - level of self-confidence and ability to handle pressure
Assertiveness - whether a person is a leader or a follower
Competitiveness - whether a person is team-spirited or individualistically competitive
Mental Toughness - ability to persevere and deal with obstacles in life without giving up
Questioning/Probing - desire to ask questions and probe
Motivation - whether person is security-motivated or recognition, incentive and commission oriented
The Achiever assessment tool, noted as one of the most in depth and comprehensive pre employment assessment reports in the India marketplace, contains the following segments:
The narrative segment, which explains each mental aptitude and personality dimension that is being assessed in the report and how the individual has scored in each compared to the job.
A pictorial analysis comparing the individual's actual scores to the desirable benchmarks for the job. These job benchmarks may be derived for an individual company based on their own successful people in the job, based on the job description, or the person can be assessed against Candidate Resources' data base of people who are successful in those jobs.
Leadership Analysis identifying the person's strongest areas and areas the person could benefit from developing in, based on the following five elements of leadership skills:

Controlling
Sales Analysis is a sales assessment which identifies the person's strongest sales skills and areas the person could benefit from developing in, based on the following five elements of selling:
Developing rapport
Identifying a need or desire
Presenting the product/service to fill prospect's needs
Dealing with objections
Closing the sale
Personal Development Plan compiled as a result of the overall assessment of the individual. The Personal Development Plan compares the mental aptitudes and behavioral traits required to successfully perform the job and an identifies those actions that the individual can take on a daily basis (books they can read, etc.) to become more proficient in the job.
Behavioral interview questions that can be asked in a secondary interview process, which are created as a result of the comparison of the individual to the job requirements. In addition, responses are given that the Recruitment consultant look for in the candidate's responses, in relationship to the person's job fit.
The Achiever's most prominent use is in employment testing for the screening and evaluation of applicants, or objective evaluation of existing employees who are being considered for promotion, transfer or annual performance review in job categories which include:
Inside and outside sales
Customer service skills
Supervisory skills
Management skills
Administrative
Technical
Engineering
Organizations who make an investment in their employees are concerned about matching the person with the job generally use some type of aptitude testing, personality testing or profile testing. Employees who are appropriately matched to their jobs have higher levels of job satisfaction and overall job performance than their "unmatched" co-workers. Higher levels of job satisfaction result in lower employee turnover and improved retention.

What are you seeking at JOB?
Your present course is not moving you forward
Once upon a time, it seemed that you knew what you wanted to do and that following that path would accomplish your life goals. Go to school. Get good grades. Get a good job with benefits. That is the lesson that I was taught and as far as I know that is still the message that is out there. It didn’t work for me and each day takes us farther from the time when it was good advice. Nowadays, a job provides no security and the idea that you can become invaluable to an employer and secure your future is history. Being an employee puts your future and the future of your family at risk. So now, you are looking at alternative plans to secure your future.
Your needs or objectives have changed
Maybe your career plans are working like you expected. You have achieved the income level you wanted and feel relatively secure that your job will continue in the future. Then something happens that changes the entire equation. Maybe it’s another child. Maybe it’s a sick and aging parent. Maybe it’s a medical crisis. Or maybe you just decide that what you are earning right now is not enough – whatever the reason.
Now, all of a sudden, work seems different. It’s a trap because you are not in control. You can’t determine how much money you make, or what hours you work or when you can take time off. You need to change how you earn money but your job is inflexible.
You need a new vision for your life
Somehow, what you have accomplished with your job, your family and your community seems empty. You had always believed that you would feel fulfilled when you accomplished your current position. Shift in thinking

Thinking bigger
There are many ways to go about changing your thinking. Maybe you are thinking too small and limiting yourself to the ordinary. Open your mind to all the possibilities and free yourself from self-imposed constraints on what is possible.

Thinking smarter
Another way is to learn more and improve your skills. Maybe a higher level of proficiency is what you need to move ahead. This goes to the specifics of your activity. It could be blogging or social networking or attraction marketing. It could be something completely different. Focus on your area of specialization and seek out sources of information that can improve your skill. Then put it into play.
Finding your own needs instead of adopting others
Another thinking problem that can handicap progress is setting a target defined by someone else. If your current destination doesn’t fire you up, find one that will. Spend some time relaxing and opening your mind, particularly noticing things that excite you. Think about your life and what you have done that made you feel really satisfied with living. Use them as the starting place to identify new possibilities or awaken old ones that your have forgotten. Don’t stop until you know what you really want.
