After another long day of sophomore year, Anna and Hiccup head back to her home for their routine hangout. Hiccup is secretly pining for his best friend, and thinks he can drop a subtle hint by giving her a box of chocolates, her favorite sweets, for Valentine’s Day. He plans to mask it as just a thoughtful thing for the holiday, yet hoping she may catch on; a game only he knows he’s playing.

As the two enter Anna’s large home, Hiccup takes a deep breath as they walk past the atrium, the warm beige walls and regal columns instilling a bit of ease and confidence in him. He pulls out a box of chocolates from his bag, handing them to Anna with a little unplanned nerves.

“I got these for you because well… you like chocolate so.. I just uh, well I thought you’d like it.” Hiccup stammered out aimlessly, trying to walk the perfect balance of innocence of innuendo.

However, Anna sees right through it and knows exactly what this box of chocolates means. She picks up on his nerves, so she doesn’t call him out, but rather smiles warmly and accepts the box of chocolates. “That’s really thoughtful of you, thank you.” She replies, gently taking hold of the token of Hiccup’s secret admiration, too shy to admit that she feels the same right away. Hiccup watches her with a blush dusting his cheeks, smiling like a lovesick idiot.
