I NEED to ask you this, but are we allowed to use the concept of Leo ending up in Usagi's world because of Mikey accidentally sending him there???

(I've been obsessed with "A World of Samurais and Ninjas" and I was amazed at your brilliance of being able to think of this because boy have this story and this concept have been eating at me for months!! I wanted to ask your permission to use it because your fic is the only one I know of that uses this concept! I really want to make a Leosagi au or story where they meet that isn't the Battle Nexus, Run of the Mill or traitor Usagi... (Two are usually angsty aus and the run of the mill, I wanted something different.))

I’m so glad you love my fic. I worked really hard on it and trying to get the world building right while still paying homage to the original cannons or Rise, tmnt (in general) and Usagi Yojimbo.

The reason I wrote it in the first place is the same reason you listed. I wanted to read this story, but it just wasn’t there. And my mind was kinda shook that it didn’t exist. So I made it.

I love the other aus to but sometimes you just want a different flavor.

That being said if you want to use my version of the Tenshu and the world, then yes you can.

I’m fine with it.

My idea on fandom projects like this is it’s all a sandbox where we make content together. If I made something that inspires you and that you and to use in your own writing or art then please do.

I just remembered that I made this a few months ago but, I never posted it. This was a scene for @annonniiiiieeeee's work "A World of Samurais and Ninja" on AO3. It was the scene from chapter 14. If you haven't read this amazing fic, read it now! I hope you guys like this scene shot!

I just went and saw tmnt mutant mayhem and I have a lot of thoughts.

I’m going to keep this semi spoiler free incase your like me and slow to see movies.

First off it’s a great movie.

The animation was fantastic!

It’s great to see so many tmnt characters in the big screen.

The story was fun and engaging. I went with two friends who are not into the ninja turtles and they had a great time with it. One of them has a film making degree and he put it as one of his top film of the year. (Along with across the spider verse, Barbie and the dungeon and dragon movie)

It’s very friendly to new comers to the series while also being fun for long time fans. My friend walked away wanting to watch more ninja turtles so that’s a win for me.

There were some things that I personally was not a fan of. These are all nitpicks. The over all movie is wonderful.

The next three bullet points are all the same complaint.

I’m never a fan of simp characters in movies. I love romance but I don’t like when one character is so into another character that that is the only characterization you can give them. It’s fine to be a simp if there is something else to your character.

And this is hard to do in a movie with so many characters and world building. They all need motivation. Raph needs to be established as the “angry one” Donnie needs to be the “nerd” so he’s super into anime (fine) Mikey needs to be a “good ball” but what do we do with Leo? And this is a problem a lot of iterations run into. 03 does a great job with him struggling to be responsible for his brother while battle of his own demons. Rise is great because they remove Leo from the leadership position and let him develop a character. But in a two hour movie you don’t have that kind of time so interesting character needs to be established quickly and being the “stick in the mud” isn’t enough (which he does start out as a stick in the mud) so they make April the love interest.

Like I said no problem with romance or a ship. I just wish it wasn’t his only motivation when his brothers are right there. But I understand they were playing with his character and that’s a good thing, I don’t even mind the ship, I just wish it was executed better.

That is all one complaint which again other people liked it my friends laughed at it. This is just a nitpick about character writing. If it had been it’s own show I’m sure that it would have been handled differently, but movies have time constraints and they had a lot of characters to introduce.

The next nitpick is there was an uncomfortable amount of the use of the world milking. I’m going to leave it at that.

My final nitpick is that they used a LOT of modern references which is not a problem now but will date the movie when you watch it back in a few years. The references themselves are fine but it defiantly will impact the watch ability to future fans in different generations. (Again this is a nitpick)

As its own movie I’d give it a 9/10 it was super fun to go and watch. The story is unique and is a very fun take on the tmnt story.

It’s a great introduction to the franchise and will be beloved by the people. It is a great movie.

As far as it ranks in the tmnt properties though…. It wasn’t my personal favorite iteration of the turtles. Rise is definitely my number one followed by 03. MM is a great film on its own. They teased a sequel at the end and I’m sure with more installment and character growth it will grow on me but as of right now I’d rank it 3rd (mind you I haven’t watched 2012)

In the end it is a wonderful movie. You should absolutely go see it if you are a fan of the turtles.

I’ve been really enjoying it. I beat the game a while ago and am now on a quest to play every zelda game I can get my little gremlin hands on. I’ve played quite a few so far and I’ve got a couple lined up.

Splinter is going to be the worst and best influence on Gen

Oh I’m ways you can’t even imagine.

Gen’s had a hard life. He’d be a much different person if Usagi and Katsuichi hadn’t take him in when they did.

Splinters past as Lou Jitsu brings out a lot of this. The desire to be successful and be more then you are. Splinters grown a lot but there’s a lot of young and lost Lou Jitsu in Gen.

I think Splinter both helps and hurts the situation. He helps because he knows the pitfalls then Gen might struggle with. But he also encourages some of the bad habits. He is a flawed character so when Gen’s flaws line up with Splinter’s (betting pools on his son’s love life) they are oil on fire. Not a good mix.

You are aloud to headcannon what ever you want.

I played with the idea of Timothy being end game, and I do love him. But I really like enemies to lovers Donnie and Kendra.

Maybe in another story or another time line Timothy wins Donnie’s heart.

But in this one he and Donnie are platonic friends. He’s Donnie’s lab assistant/test subject. He’s the uncle to Donnie’s kids and a loyal employee/friend.

(Maybe in another story they will be together but not AWOSAN)

You are forgiving someone. You’re forgetting someone who loves some money and all of his characterizations.

It’s Gen. Gen starts the betting pool. Everyone else was totally content to just watch the dumpster fire that was Kendra and Donnie’s relationship. And they would hold me jokes about it. Sure they would tease, but it’s Gen who realizes he could make some money off of this.

There is a reason I left Gen out of the leosagi betting pool. It was a small betting pool between the leaders of the Tenshu, they didn’t want it getting out of hand. Nor did they want villagers trying to speed the process along. Gen would see the opportunity this was and instantly make is a large betting pool. He’s more honorable in this verse as he was partially raised by Katsuichi, but he’s still a hustler.

But Katsuichi isn’t there to watch over Gen.

Gen takes one look at Kendra and Donnie’s ‘not’ flirting and knows there’s money here. He can smell it.

So he starts the pool. It starts with just him Kitsune and Chizu. He waits to tell Usagi until Leo’s with him. He knows Usagi will shut it down but Leo might let it go.

He right Usagi wants them to stop but Leo just laughs. “They beat on us of course they’re going to do it again.” He places his bet for when Donnie is 24. The others laugh, that’s years away but he’s confident in his bet. So much so he puts a month on it as well. Gen laughs but puts the bet down anyways.

From there it’s open to the family. From family to grows to friends. Timothy, Jeremy, Jason, Mikey’s friends, Sunita. The real problem is when it gets to Hueso. Hueso is not the problem. No it’s his patrons who over hear.

Donnie is not only a hero in the hidden city but also the owner of Genius Built, one of the fastest growing companies. The boy is rich and getting richer.

Kendra is also well known. She is the spokes person of the companies. The world is in a transition with more and more yokai coming out of the shadows. But it’s not enough that Donnie can be the public face of the companies in the human world. Kendra does all the press releases and marketing. The humans know Donnie exists but he’s the mysterious business owner.

So when people find out the two of them are in a situationship, it’s hot gossip.

The beating pool explodes with people coming to run of the mill to place bets. Huggin and Muninn are helping run it. This is a mess.

A profitable mess for Leo and Jason but a mess none the less.

How long did Kendra and Donnie take you get together? And how much was the betting pool? Because I am starting one

So here’s the thing. In the show (and this is following the school ages for New York where they live)

Mikey is 13 making him in 8thish grade age range.

Leo and Donnie are 14 so they are roughly freshmen (year 9)

Raph is 15 making him as a sophomore (year 10) and

April is 16 making her a junior (year 11)

I put Kendra and April as the same age.

Kendra and Donnie are a long game. They HATED each other in high school. Absolutely in their enemies stage.

The movie takes place two years after the beginning of the show

Mikey is 15 (sophomore year 10)

Leo and Donnie are 16 (junior year 11)

Raph is 17 (senior year 12)

April is 18 (first year is college)

Valentines takes place in what would be Kendra and April’s second year of college. Making them around 19-20

Raph, Lisa, and Usagi are 19 (first year of college)

Leo and Donnie are 18 (their birthday was in October) (last year of high school)

Mikey is 16-17

The valentines arc is defiantly when they become allies. Begrudgingly at first but they are allies not friends.

I think during their college age years (18-22) they start to become better allies until they finally have to call each other friends.

I think this is also the age in which Donnie is launching “Genius Built” as a company (this is the business where he’s selling the tech he makes) I think after enough trust is built Kendra and the dragons get invited to work for him/with him.

And I just thought ,like imaginative the turtle tots somehow ended up in usagi's world. And something minor happens and Usagi spots them and helps them then runs off. Usagi he doesn't think about it, to him Leo was just a boy that he helped on a regular Tuesday afternoon , but to Leo this was monumental, because not only this bunny boy similar to him, so he didn't view him as anything out of the world out of this world (hehe), but it was probably the first someone outside of his family helped him not to even when they return home Leo always thinks back to this moment.

Okay, that is such a cute au idea

I’ve talked about a “de-aging episode” or oneshot before but I think this is a totally different au.

The idea that Leo and his brothers end up in Usagi’s world when their all so young is fantastic.

Maybe the boys were playing with stuff on Splinter’s memorabilia shelf and one accidentally made a portal to Usagi’s world. They end up in the middle of a city or village and panic. They can’t be seen!! Raph grabs a hold of the closest brother, Donnie and just books it to the shadows. He yells out to his brother to run and thinks they are following him.

They aren’t Leo grabs Mikey and they run the opposite direction. Somewhere in the confusion they drop whatever brought them to this world.

The only realize after they get away from the crowd and into the shadows of very different buildings that they are separated.

Raph is panicking. He had Donnie, which is good. Donnie’s soft shell makes him way more vulnerable then their other brothers. But Leo and Mikey are his baby brothers and are all alone out there. Donnie’s trying to keep him calm but he’s freaking out to. They are in a strange environment, his twin and little brother are missing, and he does feel exposed as he hasn’t built a battle shell yet.

On the other side of town Leo and Mikey realize they are separated. Mikey, being the youngest, starts to cry. This is stressful. Leo is trying his best to stay calm and calm down Mikey. He’s freaking out to but he trust Raph to keep Donnie safe and he can totally keep Mikey safe.

That’s when a voice startled them. Mikey drops into his shell and Leo jumps in front of him scared out of his mind but ready to protect his little brother.

But it’s just a little bunny that looks to be around their age. Wait a bunny? Is he a mutant to? Why is he out in the daylight?

Because there stands a baby Miyamoto Usagi. There he stands in the shining daylight while Leo and Mikey hide in the shadows. He asks what their doing? Why they’re dressed funny? (Baby Leo’s shirt literally says ‘rad’ on it) Leo shyly explains that they got separated from their brothers. He’s not sure why but he wants to trust this bunny. Maybe it’s because it’s the first time Leo has seen someone who looks like them. Usagi offers to help them find their brothers. He offers Leo his hand, and after some hesitation Leo takes it. Usagi uses it to pull Leo into the sunlight and start to lead the two brothers through the town.

So here comes Usagi, Leo, and Mikey all holding hands (Leo’s in the middle) as Usagi helps them search for their missing family members.

Maybe while Leo and Mikey are searching the city, Raph and Donnie are sticking to the shadows and have found the artifact they dropped. They are having their own secret mission to get it back, as stealthily as toddlers can.

So your cutting between Usagi showing Leo and Mikey the town. Yes they are searching for Raph and Donnie, but Usagi found out it’s the boys first time in a billiard and is showing it off to them. So their getting sweet bread from the bakery walking around town in the sunlight. All around a great and peaceful day.

Then you hard cut to Raph and Donnie feeling like they are risking their lives trying to get the artifact back and find their brothers.

Your just cutting back and forth between the two groups and it’s very funny to me.

Eventually Raph gets the artifact but in doing so he rolls out into the street. Right at Usagi’s feet. Leo and Mikey cheer going to hug him and Donnie scrambles out of his hiding spot to join his family.

Raph’s wondering how Leo could be so stupid to walk around in the open with Mikey (Leo definitely doesn’t internalize that at all) when Usagi makes his presence know. Raph is supper confused why there is a bunny mutant here. Until Mikey tells him to look at the town and for the first time Raph and Donnie actually look at the people around them and notice their all animals.

Even so Raph and Donnie have had enough and are ready to go home. They open the portal back home and drag a pouting Mikey (he wanted to try more food) and Leo through the portal. Leo yells a goodbye to Usagi as they leave.

Usagi is shocked by the portal and thinks about the strangers often. Where they Kami? Witches? Monks or priest in training? What sort of power did they wield and why was that their first time in town? And maybe he wants to see the turtle with red marking again.

Leo thinks about it constantly. The cute bunny boy and his warm peaceful village. He desperately want la to go back but Splinter took the artifact as soon as the boys got home and destroyed it. (Or at least that’s what he told the boys) Leo thinks he’ll never see the bunny again.
