544 pages into 9 eps in is impossible. They created some scenarios to get the gist of some things. 

You’re right on the ninja cats. Izumi went on a mission to protect a cat in the novels when she first graduated at age 11 (year earlier than average), but SP probably did it for Itachi because they wanted to show his relation to his team (novel makes clear he had some form of one, but it just skips to the daimyo mission and doesn’t describe their easy ones).

They didn’t do the “bully” scene since it was thoroughly retarded and replaced it with something much better. We don’t need a rehash of MinaKushi/NaruHina The Last lol.

Where they take place, sometimes. But, some of Izumi’s dialogue is canon from the novels. 

Throughout the novels, it mentions how uncomfortable he is around her unlike other girls and then Shisui teases him about her & he wants to change the subject. Shisui says Itachi had a “distant” look on his face any time she is mentioned. Then, Itachi wonders if he has romantic feelings for her but concludes he isn’t sure yet as he’s too young to really know anyway. It doesn’t say he never blushes, it’s possible he did with those feelings. But really, Itachi is just a straight asexual, as he concludes that he isn’t the type for romance with anyone ever, he does have too much on his shoulders and wouldn’t be around enough for a significant other with all he had to do.

The Obito scene in the anime was 100% canon to the novels. Shisui never meets Obito or knows he exists, where did you get that from? lol

I think you got it confused with Shisui and Itachi going on a mission of another shinobi who betrayed the village so Itachi an be accepted to Anbu.

Shinko doesn’t die in the anime either...

It’s still decent and the most well-received arc to date in the anime which isn’t from the manga.

the itachi shinden anime has nothing to do with the novels it is based on

i will not pretend i read the novels since all read were summaries, impressions, and some sections from the novels. however, even from that limited knowladge, SP (studio perot aka the people behind naruto anime) have fucked up royally.

the ninja cat was not in the novels.

none of the izumi scenes in the novels have yet to be animated. they already  skipped the first time izumi and itachi meet. izumi in the novels scares bullies away for hurting itachi by showing her sharingan.

all the izumi scenes in the anime so far are filler/anime only.

itachi does not blush or whatnot with izumi around. everyone who read the novels told me that the novels show  itachi recognizing her feelings but he just doesn’t have time for them seeing how much he has on his shoulders.

the scene with obito didn’t happen in the novels from what i remember. the first time itachi meets obito is on a mission with shisui.

in the novels the boy on itachi’s team dies > itachi gets sharingan >  the girl on the team quits being a ninja. SHE DOES NOT DIE.

last episode was filler as well but it was enjoyable. this episode was mostly meh at best.

idk why SP is doing all this but……………………. stop it :(

As for filler, of course there is. How would they do 544 pages in 9 eps, that’s impossible. They just created some scenarios to get the gist of the relationships in the novel, which is why this arc is the most well-received along with the Kakashi Anbu one. They’re doing a good job given TVTokyo restrictions.

It is as canon a ship as Itachi is going to get.

In the novels, a) He considers her to be his only female good friend, b) There is an excerpt in which Shisui teases Itachi about his expression around Izumi (he looks distant?) and the latter realizes that the way he feels about her is not the same as familial love he feels for his parents/Shisui/Sasuke but not as shallow as care for a typical acquaintance/friend- he concludes that he doesn’t know how he feels. The author did this to denote romantic love and that Itachi does not yet understand as he is too young to fully comprehend such a feeling- this is also in stark comparison to all his other fangirls who do not make him feel awkward; he feels nothing towards the others and politely rejects them, c) Itachi did not want to pursue a romantic/sexual relationship with anyone in his life due to his lifestyle as a shinobi which he had to live (which is why Izumi makes him comfortable as he feels pursuing something with her during the coup problem will go nowhere) but he does realize that if he had to end up with someone, it would likely be Izumi- the Tsukuyomi is a combination of both their dreams. He appreciates her love and values her greatly.

I feel as though perhaps ItaSasu and ItaShi translators slighted Izumi’s parts a bit because when I skimmed through the novel, they were quite significant. He looked at Shisui as an older brother. Izumi was a good friend and future wife. While Itachi protected Sasuke out of a sense of obligation, he was the older bro and loved him as this was his duty, so this is why we saw more focus on Sasuke than Shisui/Izumi; Sasuke cannot protect himself like Shisui/Izumi do so he becomes Itachi’s necessary burden. It doesn’t mean that Itachi loves so-and-so the most, on the contrary he seems to have loved Sasuke/Shisui/his parents/Izumi all the same- it was just his role to do more for Sasuke and he was the only one he had a chance to save... the care of an elder brother toward the younger is usually more than the care of a younger to the elder or a man to his romantic interest. All of Itachi’s familial relationships are special in their own ways.

Thought I’d write down my thoughts regarding Itachi and Izumi from the novel. While I am aware that Izumi’s feelings are shown to be pretty much one sided, I feel like if Itachi wasn’t so focused on being a shinobi and his sense of duty, they would have ended up together. And the fact that the genjutsu he showed her involved them getting married and growing old together… oh my heart! There had to be something there on his side, even if just a little. He clearly cared about her as a ‘close friend.’ But I’m going to blissfully believe that there was something more there. Omg my heart though seriously… <3

The novel is better in that it is for a more mature audience and no boring cat filler, but some things in the anime seemed more natural as at times the darkness from the novel was overkill, no?

I would never say they don’t care as if that had been the case then they would not have picked this up & given it decent animation or promoted it so much. I read the novels as well- some sections are too gruesome to adapt. Naruto airs after Pokemon on TVTokyo, SP is doing their best and as long as they keep the original meaning there then there is no problem. 

Is like if pierrot doesnt care at all, the shinden is going from bad to worse, the novel is waaaay better

Uchiha Izumi

Izumi Uchiha is a precious cinnamon roll. Too pure for this world. Good friend of fellow precious cinnamon roll, Uchiha Itachi. Awkward acquaintance of not-so-precious cinnamon roll (I let my previous best friend die out of jealousy) Uchiha Shisui. And not affiliated with drama queen Uchiha Sasuke.

I like how Itachi lets sasuke win their fight because he’s trying to help him and because of that Sasuke gets a big dick about himself “like hell yeah bich I beat one of the strongest shinobi in the world” the proceeds to nearly die twice in his fight with Killer Bee and has to resort to his almost cheating black fire jutsu to “beat” killer bee but ends being outsmarted by taking his tentacle God sasuke sucks and I love it for a moment you think that he’s surpassed Naruto but he’s below him still lmao
