1830s Children's Outfits
Tumblr media
Two fairly similar outfits for boys and girls. It feels a little blasphemous calling them 1830s. The sleeves aren't nearly impressive enough.
These were possibly going to be accompanied by some outfits for 1830s adults but... Nah.

The skeleton suit fell out of fashion in the 30s, being replaced by these tunics. Probably an improvement. Since it's the successor to the skeleton suit, it's most suitable for younger boys, like... 4-9. No older than 10, I'd say. Older boys would wear suits similar to the ones worn by men.

As in the century preceding it, headwear for men was a major component of 18th century fashion. The tricorn, or cocked hat, was hugely popular among both military and civilian men. Caps were another common style, with working class men wearing the knitted variety and upper class men wearing a 'night cap' as a form of undress when not donning their wigs. The bonnet phrygian or bonnet rouge was a sartorial signifier worn by hardcore revolutionaries in the latter part of the 1700s, with the red colour representing liberty and equality. CC links and reference images under the cut.

meet the thistlewaites | together apart
lord cornelius thistlewaite had never believed in love at first sight—until he beheld lady selina during the windenburg season. the incomparable of her year, she captivated every room she entered, even drawing the eye of a duke. yet cornelius remained steadfast in his pursuit, determined to claim her wild, untamed spirit as his own.
little did he know—some flames are never meant to be tamed. neither love nor motherhood could soften selina’s restless heart, for she was never a woman meant to be merely a wife or mother. she belonged to the world, and cornelius could only watch as she slipped through his fingers like stardust...
i'm alive guys, for the last few weeks i've been enjoying building my regency save so i've been posting more on discord more than tumblr but did want to something since it's a been a while.
also had so much fun building more of the thistlewaite lore. this post came from me learning how to make my own paintings recolors as i wanted their portraits to hang in manor and tell a deeper story.

All right, here's my Blender advice:
Learn the shortcuts. The basics - camera navigation, undo/redo, selecting/deselecting, joining/separating meshes, merging and hiding/unhiding, and finally scaling/rotating/moving. The more tools you know how to use, the more you can do. As stated, Google is your friend. These are the tools I'd recommend looking up.
Learn how cut numbers work! This took me a long time to understand and is a major obstacle, since you cannot import a mesh to S4S if the cut numbers are wrong. It's an option in Blender, found under the Scenes menu. The cone thingy.
Tumblr media
You can and should look up more about how cut numbers work. I'm no good at explaining things like this.
Keep an eye on the UV layout and the weights. Even if you move vertices, the UV layout doesn't change. This can lead to a weird stretched or squished effect on the texture. Take for example my Julie dress:
Tumblr media
There's some minor squishing and stretching right there under the bust. I chose not to fix it because it's not a huge deal and I'm kind of lazy. But just keep it in mind. The same applies to weights. You should probably Google weights too. CASTools has the option to auto-assign weights, but it often makes them worse.
And uhh that's my advice! Sorry that I couldn't be of more help; there's a reason I'm not studying pedagogy. Best of luck!
Hi! First of all, I want to thank you very much for your cc content! Secondly, if it is permissible, I would like to ask a question: how do you make your cc clothes? Do you use only blender or some other programs like marvelous designer? I started studying the topic of creating clothes and I don’t understand anything about it yet, but I really want to learn from the best creators who inspire me! I apologize if this is an inappropriate question. Thank you again!
Hello!
I cannot stress enough how this ask made my day. To think someone would ask me for cc making advice...! I'll do my best to answer. You can always send me follow up questions or DM me, as well!
Yeah, I only use Blender. All my CC uses Maxis content as a base; I don't even know where I'd start with making meshes from scratch. I suppose I'd start from scratch.
It took me a long time to learn Blender, and I'm still not an expert. There are a lot of things I wish I'd known back when I got started, and a lot of things I learned about stupidly recently. Just last week I learned how to redo. It's shift+ctrl+z. Took me 2.5 years to look that up.
It's late. I might add some real tips tomorrow. For now: Google is your friend. The S4S and Blender forums are definitely your friends. Don't bite off more than you can chew; start small, and I mean SMALL. I believe in you! And thank you for the ask!

Julie - 1840s day dress
Tumblr media
Surprise! 3-5 outfits in 4 days? You betcha! I'm unemployed.
This is more late 1840s than early 1840s. Could work for early 1850s, even. Named after a somewhat niche opera character. I think she'd like this dress.
It's nothing fancy. 6 packages, 2 meshes, 150 swatches, 2 color overlays. I did some math and there should be 307,200 combinations. Can't guarantee my math is correct though.
As a whole this set is about 35 MB. Not bad!

Late 1910s Convertible Dress
Tumblr media
Saw this image, got inspired, made an outfit.
This type of "convertible" ensemble is meant to make it easy to switch between pants (for activities like bicycling or work) and dresses, in a time when it wasn't exactly acceptable for a woman to wear pants in public. In this case, the ensemble consists of a bodice, bloomers, and an apron-like dress to cover the bloomers.

Ina - an early 1870s dress
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Inspired by fashion plates from the years 1870-1872, this colorful (and expensive!) dress is suitable for most occasions. It can even serve as a wedding gown.
This dress marks the end of the Catherine series, because just like me, my CC is entering a new era... A college era. Or maybe I was running out of Catherine diminutives to use. I am starting college though, that's true.
