ok i haven't seen anyone talking about this but at the end of Sinners when Stack tells Sammie "we have all of your records" or however he says it, I can't help but think that's Stack not just being a good and loving big cousin, but also Stack trying to get Smoke back.

When Stack was turned he had all of Remmick's memories and thoughts, so Stack knew that Sammie's music had the power to transcend time and bring back the past/bring back the dead/bring back Smoke.

And then when they're sitting in the post credits scene and Stack asks Sammie if he can play like he used to, the look in his eyes is like he's expecting (hoping) that he can be with Smoke just one more time at least for a moment

i think when shauna dies in S4, because let's face it we know she's going to die in S4, her afterlife scene needs to be jackie welcoming her with her their wilderness baby.

jackie walking down the isle of the plane holding shauna's little boy, sitting down next to her just like they sat together during the crash, and welcoming her love to the peace of the afterlife so that the three of them can live eternally as the family that they never got to be in the wilderness

many thoughts but here's my take on these questions:

- i think we'll never know about who burned the cabin bc the girls never find out who burned the cabin. one of those mysteries that will never be solved because maybe the answer was no one and it was just an accident

- other tai seems like a trauma response to the wilderness, splitting personalities to protect her from all of the badness. as for how she knew where the symbols were, i do hope that's answered

- javi's friends i take as the cave hallucinations, same with coach taking to "someone" when mari was down in the cave with him

- simone and sammy i feel like is careless writing and catering to fan service unfortunately

- lottie's dad might just be a short one off of "hey, he thought lottie was crazy and punished her for it only to go 'crazy' himself. the world is so tragic and poetic and ironic" type of thing but not really any other reason

i dunno, i do think it's still careless writing in spots and maybe more to be found out later. but personally i'm trying not to read too into it and get frustrated by the nonexistent subtext:/

so....does anyone know who burned the cabin after all? What about the man without an eye and other's Tai initial purpose? Anything about Javi's friendss??? How about Sammy and Simone, outside of the five second cameo they had in that one episode? Why we are introduced to Lottie's father when Lottie is already dead? I guess we will never know bc the show doesn't seem interested to answer any of them.

It's so funny because analysing Nat Yellowjackets I'm like yeah so obviously she doesn't follow the law and is very comfortable taking risks others find unacceptable and she used to scam people and run cons so clearly at some point the nihilism got to her and I'd love to see more of that because it makes sense that she'd wrestle with the guilt of eating Jackie and Ben and enjoying her purpose as the hunter and leader even if she was the one to get them home. The jealousy Shauna feels towards Nat's goodness is entirely one sided because Nat doesn't see herself as Good in any way she just clearly sees them all as people trying to do the best they can. And she definitely never forgave herself for her own complicity in Ben's situation, perhaps some of her rejection of society once they get back is driven by her understanding of what happened to her once she actually did Belong for once, and how that fear of being an outcast again led her to make the wrong choices at crucial moments.

And then actually watching Yellowjackets I feel like a football player watching Messi win the championship and score a hat trick. THAT'S WHY SHE'S THE GOAT! GREATEST OF ALL TIME! MVP! THE BIG DAMN HERO AND ONE TRUE QUEEN! JACKIE'S SUCCESSOR AS CAPTAIN THE MORAL COMPASS AND HEART OF THE TEAM SHE'S THE BEST DAMN PERSON IN THIS SHOW WITH THE HEART OF A CHAMPION AND THE SOUL OF A SAINT NAT SOMETHING CATHOLIC SCATORCCIO YOU WILL LIVE FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS AS THE KING YOU ARE!!!

it's crazy to me that almost everyone on the team had their own view or lens through which they perceived who jackie was. but what's even crazier is that, out of all of them, natalie probably got the closest to seeing her simply as a person. somehow, it was nat who acknowledged her death, took care of her remains, showed vulnerability and apologized to her. and even months later, you can count on her to keep jackie's memory alive, mentioning her, and still seeing jackie as the captain.

and the fallout from it is going to be glorious to see. especially now that they'll be forced to face the reality of it with the hikers -- something they've never really had to do before.

The transition from eating someone out of unthinking desperation (Jackie) to by choice out of necessity (Javi) to choice out of punishment (Ben) to presumably choice out of self-preservation is such a chef’s kiss. What a microcosm of society. We had to. We had to. We had to. You could never understand that we had to.

Had to just means so many different things.

i wish we could find out just how pre-planned out each of the plot points were. like, the parallel between nat volunteering to help shauna with adam's body and the butcher being nat's punishment. too many things happening now in the S3 teen timeline line up with the S1 adult timeline but still. By design or by chance?

if nat hadn’t killed ben, shauna would’ve never become leader, which means they would’ve never had that ritual for ben, which led to lottie screaming, which led to the hikers finding them, which could lead to the yellowjackets killing the hikers because they saw ben’s decapitated head, which could lead to a search party being sent out for the hikers but instead of them being found it’s the yellowjackets.

nat killing ben was what ultimately got them rescued, ben really was their bridge home, just not in the way they thought.

ok so i totally 100% agree with this but (im sorry don't come for me) i think this is looking at the situation with a 2020s perspective and not a 1990s perspective. and birders would have most of their life memories coming from the 70s/80s when people used to leave their houses unlocked and walk around in the middle of the night without fear of being kidnapped/killed/etc. so dumb as they were, and it was so dumb, they probably would have never guessed going toward the screaming would result in them dying other than them saving whoever was making the noise

Like yeah it sucks that those birders are about to get ritualistically hunted, butchered and consumed by a soccer team of teenage girls but if I heard that many people screaming in the forest at night I don’t care if I have pepper spray or a fucking 12 gauge I’m out of there hiking the other direction back in my car within the hour pushing 90 on a 75mph road calling the police like man I just heard like 20 girls chanting awooga awooga and screaming bloody murder in the night like idk sucks for them but couldn’t be me
