That Scene
Tumblr media
I first thought Neil looked beautiful with that crown.
Tumblr media
Then he took something from the drawer and I thought he was going to run away from home.
Tumblr media
Then he sat at the table and now I knew.
“A life changing movie”

Do you guys know my cat?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He’s the kind of cat who meows for attention until 1 a.m. and then curls up to sleep on you. But just when you’re ready to spend time with him, he’s the one who’s already fast asleep.

I Went to the Woods
"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, To front only the essential facts of life, And see if I could not learn what it had to teach, And not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Suck Out All the Marrow of Life
"I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, To live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, To cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms, And, if it proved to be mean, then to get the whole and genuine meanness of it, And publish its meanness to the world; Or if it were sublime, to know it by experience, And be able to give a true account of it in my next excursion."
Tumblr media
As you can see, these are two different passages taken from the Walden book. But in Dead Poets Society we see them combined. This mixing did not spoil the meaning and in fact made it even more beautiful.

Edison's Invention of the Telephone
Friend: Was there electricity in 1950? Me: Are you serious? Existed even in the 1880s Friend: Wasn't the telephone invented in the 1970s? Me: No! I think it was towards the end of the 1800s, maybe the 1850s. Friend: Whoa. I meant the little phone, invented by Edison. Me: Are you serious?? Friend: What are you saying? Why are you so serious. Me: What does Edison have to do with this? Graham! Friend: Oh, Graham Bell. I confused. Sorry. Me: Btw, electricity was invented in 1752. Friend: Wow how smart people are. I don't understand yet.

How can you be so sure you haven’t taken the blue pill?
Who Am I??
Yes, you probably guessed it from the name, and no, I’m not going to spell it out for you…
Rest assured, this blog isn’t going to be your typical "Gossip Girl" scenario. First things first, remember this: you hold all the power. You can choose to keep reading or close this tab right now, can’t you? -I don’t think so.
Alright, we’re drifting off topic. So, what is the topic here? Hmm, what even is this page? Honestly, I have no idea. Maybe we should start with something a bit philosophical. No, not the kind of philosophy about authors or trivial nonsense like "Why is the door red?". I'm talking about real philosophy. Or at least what I consider to be real philosophy.
Have you seen The Matrix?
Tumblr media
I see some hands raised, so I guess some of you haven’t. Well, this is about a highly debated philosophical idea or maybe it’s not debated at all, and I’m just the one who gets lost in these thoughts. To sum it up, this philosophical thought challenges the reality of the world. Alright, I can sense some religious readers rolling their eyes already. Trust me, I neither have the time nor the desire to start a conversation about religion or other belief systems. As people often say, "Tastes and colors are not to be argued." (This is a Turkish expression. In English we can say "To each their own".) For me, beliefs are off the table for debate. Isn’t arguing about tastes one of our favorite conversation starters, though?
Anyway, back to the point. The Matrix makes us question the reality of our world. It gets you thinking, “What if… what if this isn’t real? What if this is just a playground created by my mind? Or maybe we’re far into the future, and they’ve frozen me—or just me—and my brain is making all this up?” And so on, and so on. You can come up with countless variations. The Matrix is just one of them.
Here’s a conversation between Morpheus and Neo -two characters from the movie-:
youtube
"Do you want to know what it is?" -Neo nods in agreement- "The Matrix is everywhere. It all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look at your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work, when you go to church, when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth." "What truth?" Neo asks. "That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else, you were born into bondage. Born into a prison that you cannot smell, taste, or touch. A prison for your mind… This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes." -As Neo is about to choose- "Remember, all I’m offering is the truth. Nothing more."
There’s no need to tell the rest. In my version, Neo takes the blue pill, and the movie ends.
So, how can you be so sure you haven’t taken the blue pill?
