( angst starter sentences. )
“Are you going to leave me again?”
“Be quiet!”
“Do you trust me?”
“Don’t pretend that you cared about me.”
“Don’t you love me anymore?”
“Foolish.”
“Forgive me, please.”
“Get out of my face.“
“Go away.”
“How could I believe someone like you?”
“How could you do this to me?”
“How was I supposed to know?”
“Leave me alone already.”
“I can’t let you go, not when you’re like this.”
“I can’t trust you.”
“I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
“I haven’t been resting. I can’t sleep.“
“I just wanted to help you.”
“I needed you and you weren’t there.”
“I said I was sorry.”
“I thought we were friends.“
“I’m a nobody.”
“It’s too late now.”
“It was hard for me to say goodbye.”
“Maybe, I don’t need your help.”
“Please don’t go.“
“Please, stop it already.”
“Stop lying.”
“Stop pretending.”
“Stop trying to fix something that can’t be fixed.”
“Wasn’t I worth a goodbye?”
“We need to talk.”
“What more do you want from me?”
“You don’t care anymore, huh?”
“You liar!”
“You’re hurting me.”

Her smile got a little sadder as she answered. “My mom got married. Much younger - like 10 years or so. She’s about 20 at heart though, so I guess they’re a good match.” Bella gave a light smile that didn’t reach her eyes. No one that day had asked where her mother way - they all knew, the flighty wife of the chief of police. Apparently Jessica was right about one thing - the Cullens didn’t socialize much. “Phil makes her happy.” Bella wasn’t as sad as she had once been about leaving her mother to be a newlywed, but she could still hear a bit of it in her own voice.
“I’m probably boring you,” Bella looked away from him and down at her hands. His life had probably been so interesting - being adopted by a young surgeon with four other children. She wondered what had happened to his parents - she had no intention of asking because she didn’t intend on offending the most interesting person she’d met that day, but still, she was curious.
AU: I’m Only Human
Edward must have been coming off to her as friendly and open, because Bella seemed all too happy to talk about his life. He wondered if she was getting, bored of telling the same story over and over to people, just so they knew who she was. He had known the Chief himself, but he hadn’t caused any trouble to get on his bad side. Charlie was a good guy; he wouldn’t ever do anything on purpose. ”Uhh, yeah. Carlisle’s very skilled at what he does. Helping patients is what he loves most.”
He wondered how Bella saw him, not attractive wise, but who he really was. Usually girls like her just like to stare at him for his beauty. It wasn’t what he was looking for in a person. He just wanted someone who would love him for him. Bella seemed to be genuinely interested in him though. So he played it off like he wasn’t thinking about her sexually, or anything of that sort. ”So Charlie’s your father? Where’s your mother?” He wondered, curious as he placed a fist under his chin, looking over at her with a playful light to his eyes.

His laugh made her smile wider. The sound was musical. “Why did you guys move here? Char-- my dad said that your father’s the head surgeon at the hospital?” Bella was happy to be talking about anything besides herself - she’d had enough of that today to last her a lifetime. Plus she was interested in this boy - what had Jessica portrayed him as so rude? Edward seemed fine to her. The shadows of unrequited love, maybe? In the short time she knew Jessica Bella figured that it sounded about right.
However uninterested she was in talking about herself Bella felt that she was willing to share with Edward anything he asked of her. She’d unwillingly dished out little tidbits of her life to all the other people in school, but something about Edward’s face made her more willing to share.
AU: I’m Only Human
He could tell from her facial expression, as her eyebrows raised a bit in surprise, that she hadn’t expected him to just start talking. Which was something he never did, but with her, he felt comfortable enough to start a conversation. By this point in time, he couldn’t help but genuinely smile.
”Bella Swan. Glad to be of your acquaintance.” He responded, when she told him her name. It was very typical of teen girls to stutter around him. There always had been some that couldn’t completely speak to him, only broken sentences, but he didn’t care for those girls. With Bella, she seemed a bit more interesting. Edward raised his eyebrows slightly when she spoke about Phoenix, giving her a light nod in return. ”It’s hot up there, isn’t it? I’m from Alaska, we moved two years ago from there to here in Forks.”
Edward wondered what Bella would think of that, living in Alaska…it was cold enough there to freeze to death, but they survived.

Affection Starters!
“Your hair is so soft…”
“It’s too cold! Get back here…”
“No, I’m not letting you go. It’s too early to get out of bed.”
“You’re so cute when you pout like that!”
“C’mere, you can sit in my lap until I’m done working!”
“Surprise tickle attack!”
“Share your jacket, I forgot mine.”
“Just relax, I’ll wash your hair for you.”
“I’m not going to stop poking you until you give me some attention.”
“I didn’t mean to leave you alone for so long—come here, I missed you.”
“Are you wearing my shirt?”
“Ssh, you’re safe. I wont let go of you.”
“What, does that feel good?”
“HA! I found a weak-spot on you, didn’t I?”

Bella felt a little flutter in her stomach when he said her name. She needed to put a stop to that right now - there was no point in even entertaining interest in this boy. Not when she was so ordinary and he looked... She saw the smile on his face and her heart skipped a little. Like that... she finished her initial thought. She took half a second to feel bad for herself before she answered him.
“The high in Phoenix was 89 today.” She knew she sounded sad but she couldn’t help it. She was sad. She knew coming here was the right thing to do and that Renee would be happier this way. But at what cost? She thought, remembering that the high today in Forks was a balmy 58 degrees. “Alaska?!” She asked, probably sounding a little rude. But the very thought of living in Alaska was obscene to her. “Forks is bad enough, I can’t even imagine Alaska,” She laughed. “Forks must have been a nice change for you, then.

Bella’s eyebrows raised a bit. It was silly that she was surprised that he’d introduced himself, but the only prior introduction she’d had to Edward or his family was that they didn’t talk to anyone. She swept the wall of hair that’d fallen between them when she sat down over her shoulder and looked up at her new lab partner.
“Hi,” She’d managed, once again taken aback by how attractive he was. He was slim, no bulky like his brother who looked like he ate nothing but steak and protein shakes. He looked more similar to his other brother, who was also slim, but blonde. She didn’t even want to think about how beautiful his sisters  were. “I’m, uh, Bella Swan,” She continued, though she was sure he knew. Every other student in this school seemed to know exactly who she was before she even arrived. She felt a pang for Phoenix again. It was nice to have someone introduce themselves instead of just jumping in headfirst into Bella’s life - she wasn’t super comfortable talking about herself. But, unfortunately, it was probably the polite thing to do in this situation.
“I’m, uh, from Phoenix. Arizona. I just moved here.”
AU: I’m Only Human
It’s almost over. I got through lunch, now just biology and gym. Ugh, Bella frowned visibly. Gym. She clutched her books tighter as she walked to biology, now not only uncomfortable because: 1) It was cold and rainy, the opposite of everything she’d ever loved thus far, 2) people were staring at her, and now 3) she would have to suffer through gym with all these green-world people. She’d completed all her gym credits in Phoenix, but obviously Forks was designed to be her own personal hell. At least she’d taken AP Bio before, so maybe this class wouldn’t be terrible.
Bella arrived at her biology class, her new-student-sheet already in hand. She placed the paper on her teacher’s - Mr. Banner’s, apparently - desk and was extremely grateful that he merely pointed out her seat instead of making her introduce herself to the class, which was nearly full by the time she arrived. She turned around and saw what was obviously her seat, the only half of a table that was available and almost dropped all her stuff.
Edward Cullen, Jessica’d said was his name when Bella asked at lunch. She’d explained the Cullen family’s situation, but she hadn’t lingered on the subject. They don’t talk to anyone. A moot point - she’d seemed bitter. It would have made Bella smile if she wasn’t being decidedly unhappy in her situation. Bella looked down at her feet as she walked to her seat next to the elusive, beautiful man. At least sitting next to him would make her feel ordinary in this awful town. She didn’t speak as she set her stuff down on her side of the table and sat in her seat, head still down.
