After seven minutes of uncharacteristic silence—yes, Diluc counted—Kaeya clears his throat and sets down his drink, swirling the liquid around in his glass and carefully avoiding Diluc’s gaze. “Hey, so I want you to meet someone.” His attention preoccupied with the inventory clipboard in his hand, Diluc doesn’t bother taking much time to formulate a response. “What,” he tosses out absentmindedly, almost as a joke, “you want me to meet your boyfriend or something?” Kaeya blinks, his posture visibly stiffening. “Huh,” he remarks. “Didn’t know your informants were that adept.” “Of course they are; I only hire the best of the—” Diluc stops dead in his tracks as his brain finally catches up and processes Kaeya’s words. “Wait. You have a what?”

Alternatively: A grave error in judgement on Kaeya's part leads to the introduction Diluc and Albedo to one another. Saying the two dislike one another would be perhaps the greatest understatement the nation of Mondstadt has ever heard.

It's finally out! So sorry again for the wait 😅

I strongly advise everyone that reads this to not take this too seriously, because I sure as hell didn't. Genuinely, though, this is the most unserious fic I've written in a while, and I had a lot of fun with it. (Okay, let's be real, I say that about every fic, but it's true! I love doing this so much 😊)

at this point, EVERYWHERE in genshin is the place for people with family issues. hell, ballads & brews was practically an event for people in mondstadt with daddy issues 😭

maybe it’s just mondstadt though. with venti, alice, and varka’s apparent adopting issues

Nod Krai predictions

(in no particular order)

something will happen to varka that will disable him from being the grandmaster anymore

albedo and wanderer will become a much more popular ship

diluc will show up/we will learn more about his possible connection with nicole

mondstadt once worshipped the moons

wanderer is in nod krai for revenge on il dottore / to finally cut all ties with his past

albedo will meet up with varka & the knights of favonius ‘s expedition

we will meet thoma’s mother and jean & barbara’s father as npc ‘s

rhinedottir lore drop/ rhinedottir will show up at some point (lore drop pretty much confirmed as we know we’ll be learning more about her in 5.8 with the new boss)

pyro gnosis will end up in the fatui’s hands

varka will already know about kaeya’s origins, atleast to an extent

il dottore will remember wanderer / know about wanderer

sandrone will be the fatui boss battle

my thoughts for mond once worshipped the moons were actually not from the nod kai teaser, but from the ballads and brews event!

i’ve seen a lot of people speculating about what varka’s statement means in the trailer. but the letter + mondstadts name meaning + varka’s relationship with alice leads me to believe varkas in nod krai looking for a power of some sort relating to the moon. “a dangerous secret from days long past”. from mondstadts past perhaps?

it’s been pretty established there is a disaster coming about in teyvat. but a key thing i feel people have forgotten, is that it’s Alice who is knowledgeable about this. “Teyvat's borders have grown fragile these past two years”

alice, someone who varka knows very well. i feel it’s very likely alice could have warned varka about the coming disaster, and so varka sets out on an expedition to find this “dangerous secret”, to protect mondstadt. something so important that he takes 80% of the knights.

personally, my bets are on varka’s there to find + get something, or here’s there to protect this “dangerous secret” in someway.

mondstadt is like, crazy old, and with all the moon symbolism it already has, i’d be surprised if they didn’t ever worship the moon

also shoutout to wanderer taking a gap year to study up and go to university before getting revenge on his enemies. peak haterism. study up king.

if varka traded the horses, watch kaeyas “about varka” voice line change to “this bitch…”

Considering that Nod-Krai seems to be an archipelago, I will not be surprised if Varka traded the horses for a ship (unless those horses gained the ability to walk on water/someone with a Cryo Vision ice bridged the entire cavalry to wherever they are in Nod-Krai)

Ignoring the Mondstadt in the captions, Varka is either a) going to kidnap Columbina, b) kidnap the actual moon from the sky a la Gru from Despicable Me, or c) launch himself onto the moon using the power of 90% of Mondstadt's army, beating the Fatui space program and probably cracking the fake sky in the process

i’m rooting for the diluc works with nicole theory over the nicole is dilucs mom theory

don’t get me wrong, both are super cool, but personally i think there’s more evidence for the former rather than the latter. (i can go more in depth on this if anyone wants) and i think it would be really interesting for diluc’s character

not to mention the odysseus-athena parallels

my gosh hoyo is dropping lore after lore after lore

song of the welkin moon concept overview was sick though, lots of food for thought

i’m definitely a kaeya has spent time in the abyss truther. while i wouldn’t be surprised if hoyo decided not to do that, as it looks right now, it feels very probable.

it would be so interesting if at some point in a dain quest, we got more information on actual abyss dwellers. because skirk and childe cant be the only one’s, there has to be more that ended up in the abyss for whatever reason and managed to survive. or even just accessed the abyss.

abyss civilizations are honestly such an unexplored concept in genshin that i hope we get explanation on. i do think it’s something we could learn more about in nod krai, with nod krai being the first nation after khaenri’ah to be affected by the cataclysm + the wild hunt.

So, I have to admit, I never subscribed to the idea that Childe got the lighter streak in his hair from the Abyss (I always thought it was just a design choice to make his hair more interesting to look at)... until today, when I decided to go through every character in the game and check their hair for shits and giggles.

What I found is that nobody except Childe, Skirk, and Kaeya have the streak. Sure, lots of characters have different colored parts of their hair, but they're always either dyed or there's multiple of them, compared to the single, clear highlight in the Abyss Trio.

The closest I could find was Kuki, and even then it's a little different.

I think what really sealed the deal for me was Skirk. Since her hair is already practically white, you can only see the streak close-up; it's nearly invisible from far away. There's no other reason to add it, so it must be intentional.

What's interesting to note is that nobody from Natlan has the hair streak, either, so it's probably something that only comes from prolonged exposure.

Anyway, I don't know if this actually means anything, but it is something to look out for in the future.
