Technology can predict heart attacks
A new technology that can flag patients at the risk of deadly heart attacks years in advance has been developed. The technology analyses computed tomography (CT) images of the fat surrounding the arteries to detect the inflamed plaques that can cause heart attacks.
It uses a new biomarker, called the Fat Attenuation Index (FAI); the challenge for doctors is knowing which plaques are most likely to cause blockages. The team has shown that the most dangerous plaques release chemical messengers which modify the surrounding fat.
People with abnormal FAI had up to nine times higher risk of having a fatal heart attack in the next five years. Importantly, these patients would be the ideal candidates for aggressive medical therapy.

Chiamata ECOVACS AIVI (Intelligenza Artificiale e Interpretazione Visiva), porta l’esperienza su tutto un altro livello.
L’idea di base nell’utilizzo dell’intelligenza artificiale è che gli aspirapolvere e tutti i prodotti dell’azienda diventano più Smart man mano che li si usa. Imparando infatti dall’esperienza (Machine learning), sono in grado di assecondare sempre meglio i nostri bisogni.

Technology can help you quit smoking!
Researchers at the Case Western Reserve University created a new system that senses smoking movements, sends motivational text messages and videos to help users quit smoking. This is possible thanks to wearable sensor technology to develop an automatic alert system to help people quit smoking. The smart-phone app, which initially worked only on Android-based operating systems, automatically texts 20- to 120-second video messages to smokers when sensors detect specific arm and body motions associated with smoking. Ming-Chun Huang, a researcher, said "We've been able to differentiate between a single motion, which could be confused with eating or drinking, and a sequence of motions more clearly linked to the act of smoking a cigarette. The field of tobacco control has really adopted mobile technologies because many people won't come in for therapy".

APPLE AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES
Apple has upwards of 66 autonomous vehicles on the road in California and it is continuing to test its testing their autonomy. The company is still not the most prolific tester of autonomous vehicles in the state though, with GM Cruise leading the way at 117 cars with 333 drivers. Waymo is in second with some 72 cars and 411 drivers.Apple comes in next with 66 cars and 111 drivers. While the company is testing autonomous vehicles in California, it does not yet hold a driverless car permit; this means that their autonomy is still not a 100% certain. Apple’s end goal with its autonomous testing is still unclear. In May Apple signed a deal with Volkswagen: under this agreement, the company plans to turn Volkswagen’s T6 Transport van into self-driving shuttles for its employees. Apple will continue to expand its self-driving testing in California and around the country during the years , especially as its partnership with Volkswagen ramps up.
