I have been to several ranches and you can actually smell the distinct scent of cow shit from more than a mile away. Cows are lovely, even majestic creatures. They are also as filthy as an animal can reasonably evolve to become. Would not be surprised if some biologist out there seriously thinks that they shit so much as a defense mechanism.
