The fondness in Jon's voice when he says, "that'll be our Gerard." makes me want to scream because they didn't even know each other and yet Jon likes him. Jon doesn't speak about anyone like that. Jon has heard enough about Gerry in the tapes and notes that he's formed an opinion of him. He says "our Gerard" the way others speak of a family member. In the same way someone would lovingly call a cousin a brat. Jon likes Gerry.

I would like to congratulate Jon and Martin to graduating from main characters to " vaguely described, mysterious figures connecting seemingly unrelated stories". This is like retirement for Magnusverse protagonists honestly.

the key difference between lena and elias is that elias would force the archival team into doing awkward team building exercises like trust falls whereas lena would rather shoot herself

I’ve said this before but I think all sci-fi and fantasy adventure needs a little bit of horror as seasoning. It doesn’t need to be full sci-fi horror or fantasy horror but a little bit of scary adds flavor. Build a world and then explore the fucked up implications of that world a little bit
