Dude... I am SO incredibly invested in the camboy au, holy shit. I don't even read Canmei that often but honestly the way you write them got me incredibly hooked, and then you added Son Siwoo the Menace/Mess and a rare Kiingen in there and I am. hi, i love your writing, especially mad scientist incorrigible! rulehends feels so much more popular to me than the number of fics for them on ao3 would suggest, and i think that's in large part thanks to how popular you are! similarly, i also see a lot of rulehends fics, especially recently, where their dynamic & personalities feel a bit reminiscent of how you write them (not in a bad way, of course — i think you just set a high standard!).

to that end, do you recall any rulehends fics on ao3 that have influenced how you think about the ship? or any rulehends fics, in general, that you especially enjoy?

I'm very flattered that you think I'm influential and popular in the fandom! The second one is sort of hard for me to tell because I don't have social media other than tumblr, but I have had a surprising number of supporters reach out to me in DMs or comment on my fics. It always feels amazing to hear that people enjoy my writing and my interpretations of our beloved League pros, so thank you very much for reaching out!

I have also noticed that many of the more recent rulehends fics tend to have similar characterizations to mine, although in my read, most of them are either a lot fluffier or a bit cruder than my takes. The rulehends dynamic is ultimately about a balance between flirting and fighting, and it's interesting to see which side of that scale different authors lean toward.

In terms of fics that influenced my take on the ship, keep in mind that when I first started writing Mad Scientist Incorrigible a little over a year ago, there were basically no English rulehends fics on AO3 - it was literally just Aurelion8 and mythicessence, then I was third on the scene. Of those two, I'd say that Aurelion8's writing resonated with me and shaped my writing more. I am still of the opinion that we're still here is the best rulehends fic on the site, plus it was one of the two fics that inspired me to start typing out and posting my lolrpf ideas in the first place (the other was lightning storm by sightstone). I do also think that some of the seeds of the MSI fic were sown by Aurelion8's maybe, a fic about Lehends sleeping with Faker while in an ambiguous situationship with Ruler. In chapter 5 of MSI, when Siwoo almost moans the name 'Hyuk-ah' while sleeping with Geonbu, it's a very subtle homage to maybe, in which Siwoo starts moaning the name Hyuk-ah/Hyeok-a while sleeping with Faker - in both cases, he's thinking about and wishing he was with Jaehyuk instead.

As for other rulehends fics that I especially enjoy, I kind of already answered that in this ask, but to reiterate:

As for more recent interpretations, I personally favor what I'll affectionately call grungier takes on the ship - fics like bye, birdie and dinners and free will - because to me those feel raw and real in just the right ways. There honestly aren't that many rulehends fics on the site, though, so if you're a fan of the ship, you might as well read all of them. I'm sure you'll find some that you like, and if you don't, I know that I will be adding more to their ranks in due time :)

How long have you been writing? You seem to be very skilled in pacing stories

Hi, and thanks for the ask and the compliment! I don't think I've gotten that one before, and I really appreciate it; I think pacing is one of, if not the hardest part of writing.

If you count sprawling paragraphs in an iPad notes app, I've been writing ever since I was ten years old. My first published fanfic was a few years after that, so going with that date, I'll say that I've been writing for about nine years now. During that time, I also got a university degree in creative writing, but both my professors and I will tell you that that basically means nothing - I only mention it because I was highly focused on my writing for about four years of my recent life.

Funnily enough, I think a lot of my pacing choices come from my personal tolerance for what I can/want to write - I can usually write only 2,000 to 4,000 words in one sitting (we'll ignore the fact that I wrote all 10,000 words of Unleashed Power in one night - CanMaker doesn't count, that ship gives me super powers), so I'll fit my shorter fics and chapters of longer fics into that duration. For a bit more context, whenever I start a fic, I don't usually do a super thorough outline, but I do bullet point everything that I need to have happen, almost like a to-do list of what to write.

I think I tend to keep things pretty short, but to quote a piece of writing advice I once got, 'if you aren't excited to write it, your readers likely won't be excited to read it.' I always use that as a copout whenever I hit a part of the story that I'm not super invested in lmao - I first ask myself whether it's actually necessary to include, if I can't cut it or work around it in some other way, and if the answer is yes, I just keep it concise. Then I can move onto the parts of the story that I'm actually hyped about.

I almost never end up needing to stretch things out longer - people have places to be and sleep to get, and I'm personally not really the slowburn type - but in the few cases I do, like if I want to build up more for a dramatic reveal or something, I'll just focus on being descriptive and setting the scene.

At the end of the day, pacing is an artistic choice, and I tend to think my style is fairly quick and punchy. I'm glad that it hits for you, and I wish you the best of luck with any writing you might do, as well!

Hi, and thanks for the ask! Oh boy, do I have thoughts:

As someone who watched the series live, I kind of wish I hadn't lmao - they were both really brutal games in that the kill score was close until the very end, but the difference in laning prowess resulted in Nongshim slowly getting choked out until the games were unwinnable. The series wasn't won through strong teamfights or interesting macro - it was just Gen.G having significantly stronger fundamentals and playing a clean game. Which, good for them, but doesn't exactly make for super fun spectator sport.

I will say, however, that watching Lehends perform his signature Nautilus trick of flashing to redirect his ult is always a treat, especially when he's performing it on Ruler. The cams didn't show Ruler's reaction to that play, but I bet he was grinning to himself while gray-screened. Very few supports can pull off that mechanic, and none better than the man who invented it.

Lehends emoting back-and-forth with Chovy at the end of game 1 broke my heart, actually. The two of them are so silly, and bros let bros pad their K/D/A at the end of a won match. I think they definitely miss each other - I recently learned through a Lehends stream that Chovy's parents and Lehends's parents became friends through their sons working together, and now, if either set of parents is having trouble getting in touch with their son, they'll ask the other set of parents to ask their son for help. I absolutely love the idea of Lehends scolding Chovy for ghosting his parents and telling him to call his mom back, or on the other side, Lehends going on a bender or sleeping around like crazy and Chovy telling him when he gets back that his dad wanted to speak with him. They truly are the besties of all time.

Ofc, Chovy wasn't the only one getting emote-y - Canyon threw out an emote for like the first time in ages when he trapped Jiwoo's Zeri in the wall. I swear, this Gen.G roster is making him a lot sassier, probably by forcing him out of his shell more (I made a joke to a friend about the increase in alphas on the team making him more territorial lmao). I am here for the more assertive boo-bear, and love to see him having fun. Poor Jiwoo, though.

Finally, Ruler threw out the Rammus okay emote while chasing down Lehends's Rakan at the very end of the series, and I do find it hilarious that Chovy's the only one who got an emote back. Lehends just kept running away, and Ruler kept chasing him. I kind of feel like Lehends was disheartened by the series a bit, ngl - as I said before, both games were really brutal, and although Gen.G were the clear favorites, I think he was hoping to take at least a game off of them.

Which brings us to the grand finale: the fist-bumps. I'm sure I'm not the only one who was looking forward to watching Lehends's interactions with his former teammates following the legendary fistbump-hug-hug-hug-asspat sequence from last time. Today, he wasn't feeling it, though - after fistbumping Duro, he immediately put up his fist between Ruler and himself, signaling that he would stick to the classic post-match greeting. He didn't even really look Ruler in the eye - he did for a second, but then swallowed and looked down at his fist instead. Ruler wasn't here for that, though: of course he needed to give Siwoo a pat on the back as well while walking away. I think he wanted his hug, but respected that Siwoo needed space. And then Siwoo's little twitch of a smile after Jaehyuk couldn't see him anymore... These two are killing me. I'm sure Jihoon caught the look on Siwoo's face, though. Maybe he'll stir the pot about that later...

I did, naturally, consider writing a post-match fic for rulehends, but I opted to drop my royalty AU fic for them instead because that's been brewing ever since roster announcements and I wanted to get it out there, so hopefully that was enjoyable! I am planning to write more AU stuff for CanMaker next, since they play each other tonight and it feels like I haven't written them in ages, but that might take a few days to finish just because my fake work (what pays my bills) is busy and keeps distracting me from my real work (posting League of Legends pro-player fan fiction on AO3). I have also been thinking about One2eus again after last night's match, so maybe there's also something for them on the horizon? We shall see.
