He’s got the two photos selected in their chat, all he’s got to do is hit send, but his thumb trembles and hesitates above the button. He takes a deep breath and thinks maybe a caption will make this slightly more… professional. Professional? What the fuck? Acceptable?  Anyway. God, this is dumb.  ‘Progress update,’ he types. ‘Focused on sides and core this week.’  The message goes to read a few seconds later. It’s late, which means Sam’s left the base by now and is probably at home, and if he’s not at home, he’s having beers with Bucky at that bar they like. Joaquín really fucking hopes he’s not having beers with Bucky right when he's about to get nudes from his team mate. The silence stretches on for way too long. No typing bubbles, nothing. He starts regretting his cocksure actions just a little when ten minutes pass and there’s still no reply. That delete button glares at him, and he’s about to hit it when Sam’s reply pops up.  ‘Damn,’ Sam says. ‘That is some progress, J.’ Joaquín flips out. He tosses the phone aside, stares at it with a huge, fat smile on his face. There is no way Sam said that and if he did he’s got to be fucking with Joaquín because that was flirting right? That was Sam hitting on him.

maybe when they laugh together and for a split second he sees his face in joaquin’s ???

i can imagine him being very protective of joaquin in that aspect.

think the first time joaquin gets hurt, he thinks about the day riley passed, and panics.
