Okay okay okay. Buckle up. I’m gonna be rating the first book in the series.
1. 9/10
2. I think when kelsier killed that nobleman in the beginning of the book. Was immediately hooked
3. Story is well done and it’s a fun premise
4. World building is some of the best I’ve ever seen
5. Not much character development in this book but definitely throughout the series
6. Dynamics were great, I loved the father daughter thing that kelsier and vin had going on
7. Pace was actually well done. I thought that the rest of the books would be them actually overthrowing the lord ruler and was pleasantly surprised when it happened in the first book.
8. Oh absolutely
9. Again, absolutely
10. Probably sazed, they go more into his character in later books
11. Hmm. Probably the one where kelsier is teaching vin about allomancy
12. “There’s always another secret” and “I am the one thing you will never be able to kill, for I am hope”
13. I think the character relationships are what made this book so good. That and the absolute beauty that is a magic system.
14. Not really? I felt like vins whole “trust nobody” thing was a little on the nose but turns out that’s a plot point in the later books so-
15. Ive actually recommended it to multiple people
16. It’s definitely up there, I like the third one best
17. Keep reading, there’s always another secret
ASKING FANS
So, I'm sorry if I'm annoying people with my constant questions, but I just need to have more information so I can know what to expect.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how would you rate the book?
When did you get invested in the story? Please, don't mention a page because it probably won't be the same on my online Brazilian copy, use the chapter number or a reference, like a quote or event that happens there.
How do you feel about the story?
How do you feel about the world-building?
How do you feel about the characters and their development?
How do you feel about the dynamics?
How do you feel about the pace?
How do you feel about the prose?
Do you think it had the right level of eventfulness?
Do you think it had the right level of emotion and intensity?
Do you have a favorite character? You can mention as many as you want, it doesn't have to be just one example.
Do you have a favorite dynamic? You can mention as many as you want, it doesn't have to be just one example.
Do you have a favorite chapter? You can mention as many as you want, it doesn't have to be just one example.
Do you have a favorite quote? You can mention as many as you want, it doesn't have to be just one example.
Is there something that was so great/unique that made the novel stand out for you?
Is there anything you didn't like or even hated?
Would you recommend it to people?
Do you consider it to be one of your favorite novels?
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Thank you for the attention and whoever answers this. 🩷💛🩵

I think we should write more straight relationships with 2010s TV queerbait tactics. Let that man and that woman's lives be horribly intertwined, let them take bullets for the other, let them be each other's meaning but NO KISSING. They are holding each other platonically. You're crazy for reading anything romantic into it at all tbh

Sometimes I think about the ‘okapi’ bit from the finale and yes, it’s known for its levity- but with my Aruani glasses fully on I would like to also point out that it’s also a small glimpse into how much of a bookish nerd Annie must be privately.
What reason would she have within her set of life circumstances to know what an okapi is?? She had to have read about it in a book at some point and committed it to memory. And I doubt Marley was giving her an education on zoology as part of her Warrior training.
So then my next conclusion I jump to is- if Armin spent time talking to her about his theories of the outside world and all the flora and fauna and habitats that might exist, you know she had to be sitting there biting her tongue- because there’s some subconscious part of her that wants to yap back but she can’t blow her cover…
Post-Rumbling, I picture Annie just randomly, quietly, and in that flat tone of hers, sharing little facts or being knowledgeable about things. And it doesn’t surprise Armin at all and he just happily contributes some other nerdy little observation- but to the other Ambassadors it all suddenly clicks. Why Armin and Annie work together.
They’re both nerds.

Szeth: I do not understand, this is that "C&C" game you play with the Kholins, is it not?
Nightblood: Szeth! This is obviously a boardgame, not Kaladin's kink? Isn't it...?
Kaladin: Storm it, Nightblood! It stands for "Crabs and Chasms." By the all mighty, who even explai- nevermind. Storming sword.
Szeth: What is the purpose in having me play this game with you, Kaladin?
Kaladin: Think of it as an exercise in agency. Think of a character you want to play as, and you'll be playing their role in a story we work on together.
Nightblood: And WHY is his ex here??
12124: Sigh. I'm here to moderate as I know all the rules.
Kaladin: Yes, Syl and 12124 are joining us, I felt they should partake in this exercise with us. Any ideas on who you'd like to play as?
Szeth: Something different. Perhaps I could be an edgedancer in this game?
Nightblood: OOOH! CAN I BE SZETH? HE'S THE COOLEST!
...
Kaladin: You can tell the wounded man will die soon without help, what would you like to do?
Szeth: I'd like to heal this man, how do I proceed?
12124: You must roll this die. And the number rolled will correspond to the amount of healing you provide.
Szeth: So this die is an oath stone?
Kaladin: What? No?
Szeth: I cannot act without its limits upon me, can I not?
Kaladin: I wouldn't think of it like that. Shallan explained it as a way to measure someone's skill, power, or capabilities in the game to somewhat emulate the world around us. None of us succeed in every single thing we do, this accounts for that.
Szeth: I suppose.
Nightblood: This is a LOT less exciting than Syl promised. When do we get to destroy evil?? I was told that was part of the game??
Syl: There is evil to destroy, it comes later, and when it does Chullord the Spectacular and Szeth can take care of it.
Nightblood: Wait. The evil is in the game? Can I destroy fictional evil? Surely I can, right?
Szeth: It sounds like you would need to roll the die. Without arms, sword-nimi, I think it is impossible for you.
Nightblood: I have no arms and I must roll.
