Hao Asakura With A Banshee Reader! 👻

For those who don't know, a banshee is a creature from Irish/Gaelic folklore. They're female spirits known for their loud, piercing wails. They're often depicted in white and serve as warnings of an impending death within a person's household. In some portrayals, it's said that each house has its own banshee! That being said, this is the basic information that I'll be basing Banshee!Reader off of.

Funnily enough, he met you around the time of his first death. He heard your piercing screams about a day or so before his death. While he knew all the ins and outs of demons and spirits, he didn't have much experience with banshees like you.

You were the banshee of the Asakura family for a long time, though your existence was often partnered with a lot of their Japanese culture. Eventually, though, you found yourself drifting off and moving onto the afterlife. You were once human, after all. It was only a matter of time before you sought your own peace.

Then Hao Asakura reincarnated for the third freaking time.

To say the balance had been disturbed was an understatement. He wasn't meant to come back, but his stubbornness had fueled his journey through hell. To your dismay, you found yourself being returned to earth too.

While you weren't there for the birth of Yoh and Hao, you grew up having very vivid visions of the chaos that ensued. Do you know why the Great Spirit decided to bring you back? No, but now you begrudgingly found yourself in the Shaman Fight.

You weren't going to join his team initially, but he was quick to seek you out. Despite being consumed with dread, you felt the need to stick close given that you were basically his death caller. A warning of impending doom and inevitable death, if you will.

You didn't like him. His mind-reading power was so freaking intrusive. You started flashing memories of his past deaths in your head just to spite him.

He knew you were some kind of spirit, but he didn't realize you were a banshee until Lady Sati sent Yoh to hell. Since Yoh was an Asakura, you had let out one of your ear piercing shrieks hours before Team Fundari Springs confronted Gandhara. To say Hao was pissed when you finally stopped was an understatement.

He questioned you privately for a long time afterwards, tryin to gauge how much you knew about him. When he finally calmed down, he couldn't help but let a smidge of vulnerability shine through.

"Hah...it's nice to know I'm not alone. You're probably one of the last remnants of my past. I can't decide if I want to keep you around or destroy you."

You two unfortunately grew closer after that. He would tell you snippets of his past and you'd do the same. That's when he learned about how you died before your wedding, which was why you were always wearing white and your signature tattered veil.

He always thought you were pretty, even with your sunken eyes and greyish skin. You were spooky, but he's seen worse.

He encourages you to try and take care of yourself nowadays, but it's not easy to change your spooky ass appearance.

Is he still traumatized by your warning screams? Yes. Does he make you scream at people sometimes just for the hell of it? Absolutely.

When Ryu first saw you, he thought you were the absolutely cutest thing he had ever seen. He had just watched you win your match and he was practically squealing with joy and amazement the whole time.

Once you were properly introduced to the group, Ryu was all over you. He would take every chance he could get to hang out with you, talking your ear off about the most random things.

I personally don't think Ryu would fall in love immediately. Sure, you're so cute and strong, but it would take him a while to realize the true extent of his feelings.

It starts off with a very strong friendship and attachment. He would chat you up and accompany you around the island, casually spitting out the cheesiest pick up lines he could just to make you laugh.

He would tell you about his life and about his dream to finally find his true happy place. This vulnerability makes you more drawn to him, seeing just how dedicated he was to just live a happy and fulfilling life with the ones he loves.

You find his personality hilarious, gravitating to his more goofy and dramatic nature.

Eventually, he'll start getting a bit more shy around. He's still the same boisterous Ryu you know and adore, but he definitely starts getting more flustered the more aware he becomes of his feelings.

His pick up lines start picking up in frequency, most of which he can't help but stutter through when he directs them at you.

He wonders why he suddenly feels so nervous around you, but once he figures it out, he doesn't hesitate to tell you.

I think Ryu would be pretty straightforward when it comes to his feelings. He doesn't have trouble expressing himself, but I do think he would definitely be a bit nervous about it.

Depending on your preference, the confession may or may not be a grand thing. I think he'd definitely try some kind of big romantic gesture, but he's very real and transparent about it.

He starts off nervous, but he gradually becomes more and more serious the more into it he gets. He eventually finishes by saying that he completely understands if you don't reciprocate his feelings, but he doesn't want to lose you as a friend.

When you eventually answer, he's ecstatic to hear you accept his feelings. He can't help himself from picking you up and spinning you around in joy.

Dating Ryu is definitely a wild ride sometimes, but it's definitely worth it. You often have to deal with a lot of his crazy shenanigans, but he makes up for it with lots of affection.

I think Ryu's main love language would be giving gifts and physical affection, but he loves to receive words of affirmation and physical affection in return.

There would truly never be a dull moment with Ryu by your side, and he's definitely a very considerate and understanding partner.

This man would literally do anything for you, no matter what.

However, he appreciated how quiet your mind was. With how often he has to deal with his stupidly loud subordinates, he appreciated having someone quiet like you around to counteract all the noise.

He found your flustered reactions amusing, always prodding and teasing just to see you blush at least once.

What he finds most intriguing about you is your social anxiety. As someone who's used to being charismatic and constantly in the presence of others, he's never really understood the fear you harbor towards social interaction.

When you first tried to explain it to him, it didn't work out. You kept stuttering and trailing off when trying to finish your sentences. Even when he tried to read your mind to see what you were trying to say, your thoughts were too jumbled and scattered for him to make sense of.

It took a couple attempts for you to finally get your message across, and he found your desire for friends absolutely adorable. Although he didn't care for friends, he understood how it was important to you.

"How about this," he proposed with a sultry tone and teasing grin, "why don't I become your first friend? One less towards your goal, right? What do you say, my quiet little shadow?"

When you agreed so eagerly, he couldn't help but chuckle. You were far too cute. He'd definitely enjoy having you around.

Not only were you endearing to him, but you were also quite the exceptional shaman. Not as strong as him, of course, but you could definitely hold your own in a fight.

After every round that you participated in, he always made an effort to meet up with you afterwards. He would praise your abilities just to see your flustered expression, which never failed to make him smile.

One particular day, all the contestants were given the day off to train and rest up. Hao was with the rest of his minions, rolling his eyes at their usual antics. He quickly noticed your absence and decided to excuse himself with a sly lie.

He eventually found you hiding under a tree, staring absentmindedly at the beautiful field ahead of you. He silently seated himself next to you, causing you to jump in surprise.

He couldn't stifle his laughter at your reaction. After managing to calm himself, he casually wrapped his arm around you and snuggled into your shoulder.

"Hehehe...sorry, I just couldn't help myself. You just have the cutest reactions. Y'know...I quite like you. Although I will always focus on becoming the shaman king... Although Hao's tone was laced with sarcasm and playfulness, you could tell he was being genuine with his confession. You decide to answer with a small nod and a proper hug, which briefly takes him by surprise. He quickly melts, though. All that time in hell has definitely left him a bit touch-starved.

He was going to have so much fun with you. For now though...he was content with just resting with you under the tree, without the sound of everyone's thoughts piercing his mind.

Hao Asakura With An Affectionate S/O Who Becomes Distant After Being Called Clingy ❤️‍🩹

Contrary to popular belief, Hao wasn’t the one who called you clingy. After all, he’s been deprived of basic physical affection for 900 years. He’s DEFINITELY NOT complaining about how much physical affection you give him.

Rather, it was Hao’s minions who started calling you clingy. More specifically, Team Flower AKA the three witches.

When Hao had left to take his usual midnight walk, you opted to stay in this time. Once Hao was gone, the three witches openly began to mock you for how affectionate you are towards Hao.

No one knew you and Hao were together, which was mainly for the sake of Hao’s reputation and your own safety, but it still hurt.

When Hao returned, he was visibly irritated and brushed you off every time you tried to talk to him. Eventually, he got so annoyed that he lashed out at you.

“God, so what?! They’re not wrong, y’know. You really are just a clingy little pup. It’s so irritating, it makes me feel so suffocated. Give it a rest, you amateur—“

He immediately shut up the second your thoughts when quiet. When he finally turned to look at you, he almost began to cry himself.

You were crying and looking at him with such betrayal in your eyes. He opened his mouth to apologize, but you ran off before he could say anything.

He slept alone that night, and it was genuinely the worst sleep he’s ever had in his life. He missed having you in his arms, cuddling just like before.

That morning, he woke up looking like a hot mess. No one said a word about it, but Hao was particularly snappy towards the three witches. Sure, it was his fault for snapping at you, but it didn’t stop the fact that the three of them disrespected you in the first place.

He eventually found you after a few hours. He skipped watching the Shaman fights to look for you instead. When he did, he kneeled in front of you and immediately began to apologize.

“Darling rose…I know you’re angry but just hear me out: I’m so sorry about last night. What I said was completely out of line and untrue. I was angry about having my usual walk interrupted, so everything just came out wrong. I don’t think you’re clingy at all…in fact, I quite like how affectionate you are. You know Team Flower are nothing but pathetic amateurs. You mean everything to me. So please…come home.”

He leaned in and carefully kissed your forehead, thinking that you probably didn’t feel like kissing him at the moment. He spent the days after that making it up to you and reprimanding Team Flower.

He made up for it in cuddles and endless amounts of kisses and hugs. He even initiated some affection in front of his minions, much to everyone’s surprise. He quickly shut them up, but he couldn’t help but laugh about it once you two were alone.

He’s still guilty about it, but he’s definitely trying to make it up to you.

Yoh Asakura:

When Yoh first met you, his eyes were immediately drawn to your feline features.

He couldn’t help but be reminded of Matamune, which made him feel a little more comfortable around you.

Your cat-like features are similar to Matamune’s and often send him into stages of nostalgia. Because of this, he often goes out of his way to spend time with you.

He found your supportive personality attractive. Having someone in his corner is always reassuring for him, even if he doesn’t need it.

The first couple times you took care of him after his shaman fight, he was actually kind of surprised.

The rest of the group trusted Yoh a lot, so they often didn’t check up on him unless he was injured. Yet, you made the effort to make sure he was okay even if he was completely fine.

He started to become really appreciative of it, because even if he was perfectly fine physically, sometimes the fights took a toll on him mentally. After all, it’s hard to stay laid back all the time.

The first time you took a massive hit for him, he literally almost broke down. You had taken a hit from Marco, who was always pretty merciless with his attacks.

He was VERY tempted to beat the shit out of Marco, but he knew that wouldn’t solve anything. He quickly brought you to Faust to get you all healed up.

Assuming you got knocked out, he was so relieved when you woke up. He did scold you for scaring him and for being so reckless, but he made up for it in affection.

He would literally never let you leave his sight for the next couple days. Yes, he’s paranoid, but he does eventually calm down.

Ren Tao:

In the beginning of your relationship, he absolutely hated how willing you were to take hits for him. As much as he appreciates it, he does NOT want to have to deal with you potentially dying to save him.

Your neko features never bothered him or anything, but he hates how silently you move around. He made sure to give you some kind of bell to attach to your clothes, so you stop sneaking up on him.

He’s often kinda embarrassed about you cheering him on. It’s nothing bad, it’s just that he’s never really had people in his corner before. Plus, it’s kinda embarrassing when you’re cheering the loudest.

He got super embarrassed when you joined his family in cheering him on. He made you swear you would never do it again.

He doesn’t mind you taking care of his injuries, especially given that he’s the one that normally takes the heavy hits, but he leaves the bigger injuries to Faust.

He does occasionally get flustered when you’re bandaging him up, since he normally does it himself. It’s also just a weirdly intimate thing for him because you’re fully touching him.

The first time you took a hit for him, he literally almost killed you himself when you woke up. He was so upset about you risking your life for him, no matter how many times you explained to him that you were okay with it.

He loves you a lot, so he hates seeing you injured. As much as he appreciates it, he also gets pretty paranoid about it afterwards.

He’ll cool it once you tell him to, but he often keeps an eye on you now whenever you both are on the battlefield.

Hao Asakura With An Innocent Looking S/O Who's Secretly Strong! 💥

When he first met you all those years ago, to say you shocked him is an understatement. Yet, he immediately found you attractive. I mean, c'mon. A innocent shaman like you who's somehow able to beat anybody's ass? How could he not want you?

He finds you especially intriguing if you purposefully act innocent. Now, if you actually were just innocent and dense, he would also find it adorable. Would he exploit it? Yes. Does he still love you? Absolutely.

The first time he saw you fight, he was honestly a bit tense. Your opponent and his team were twice your size, which did worry him a bit. Imagine his surprise when he watches you singlehandedly beat up the biggest guy on the opposing team.

He showered you with praise afterwards, but mostly in private. As much as he's enamored with you, he has an image to uphold. Though, he makes it kinda obvious that you're one of his favorites.

He also finds your ironic strength reassuring. As powerful as he is, he can't always be there to protect you from harm. However, once he realized that you could take care of yourself, it helped put his mind at ease.

To say you two are a power couple is an understatement. Once word got round that you were Hao's partner, you inevitably had a lot of targets on your back. However, once everyone got to see your obnoxious amount of strength, a lot of people backed off immediately.

Introducing you to Yoh was...something. Yoh had actually had a couple friendly interactions with you, but finding out you were Hao's partner was a literal shit storm. Yoh was screaming. Horohoro was screaming. Manta and Choco were screaming. Twas a lot of screaming.

Hao was pretty shameless when showing you affection later on in the relationship. Once he finally gets comfortable with you, he's not afraid to get a little handsy. It's also because he's spent thousands of years alone. The poor guy is touch deprived.

When he eventually put his plan to become Shaman Kind in action, he was anxious about your reaction. He was ecstatic when you agreed to it though. Plus, you would be useful in achieving his goal.

During the final battle inside the Great Spirit, he found himself looking for you. He held you close during the entire confrontation, refusing to let you go no matter how much everyone told him to do so. After his mother knocked some sense into him, he realized that he couldn't keep you with him if you didn't want to.

He gave you the choice of either living or staying with him. If you chose to live, he'd be upset but would watch over you. He would wait for your inevitable death to reunite with you again.

If you chose to stay with him, he'd be over the moon. He'd hug you tight and, when everyone was gone, he'd quietly cry into your neck or shoulder. You just made him so happy.

Overall, your innocence and strength would be weird to him at first. However, he'd eventually come to love you and your weirdness.

As you and Ren trained more frequently, he found himself growing more and more enamored with you by the day. In all honesty, he just couldn’t help it. At this point, why try to fight it anyway?

Ever since you landed your first hit on him, he’s only seen you improve. From one hit to two, to three, and eventually it became a proper hand-to-hand sparring match. You even managed to give him a few bruises.

Although your technique isn’t refined yet, you’ve certainly been able to keep up with him. Sure, he lasts much longer than you do due to his stamina, but you’re getting there!

He starts letting the praises slip out more freely. How could he not when you were improving so well? Of course, he’d make sure to correct you as well.

But as the two of you got closer, you started confiding in him about how you truly felt. You started admitting how despite all the training, you still struggled with your self esteem.

You often compare yourself to the others, recognizing that you are nowhere near their level in terms of strength. It made you feel helpless, as if all of the training was for nothing.

You admitted to your fears about disappointing him, especially because of how much time he put in training you. It felt like you had to meet his expectations, or else it would've all been for nothing.

Not only that, but your feelings for him only added to the pressure. You did try to confide in Yoh and the others, but their advice didn't ease your anxiety.

In the meantime, you began trying to hone your skills by yourself. You would practice whenever you had the chance, even if it meant hurting yourself in the process.

You would spar with Anna for hours on end, much to her dismay. When she wasn't available, you would be working out and conditioning your body until it became physically impossible.

He inevitably began to notice, much to your dismay. He started getting suspicious and worried for your wellbeing. Eventually, he confronted you on it.

"Ren, please! It's not that serious!" You pleaded as he began bandaging your fresh bruises. He had caught you in the midst of your work out session, forcing you to stop despite your persistent protests. He eventually got tired of your squirming and summoned Bason to hold you in place.

"You're a healer, yet you can't even be bothered to take care of yourself. Do you realize how stupid you are for doing that?! Pushing your body over the limit without break won't benefit you at all! Even I know that!" He scowls as ties the bandage around your arm. He quietly seethed as he began putting the supplies away. You couldn't bring yourself to say anything. You knew of his past and how his father ruthlessly pushed him to the edge, so you understood where he was coming from.

"I'm sorry, Ren. I just want to be stronger." You whisper with your head hung in shame. The weight of your stupidity finally hits you as your body begins to feel sore. Your eyes well up with tears, but he suddenly leans in. With a gentle hand, he wiped your tears away.

"Bastard...you could've hurt yourself. You are strong. Plus, physical strength isn't everything. I'm proud of how far you've come, and I don't say that lightly." He scoffs with a much softer expression. Suddenly, he presses a soft kiss to your forehead. Afterwards, he takes the first aid kit and heads to the door.

"Get some rest, idiot." He whispers softly before walking out, leaving you alone with your thoughts. You gently touch your forehead, then bury your face in your hands. Fuck. That felt good.

hello! if you don't mind another shaman king headcanons request, I've got one;

Hao with a reincarnated reader who used to be his lover in his past lives. so much potential for this one, and i personally have much ideas for it, like reader doesn't remember past life but gets flashes time and time again. maybe reader doesn't necessarily support his actions in this life so she/they (I'm not picky) try to encourage him to let go of his anger or something. Maybe past reader iterations only supported him out of love for him, not necessarily bc they believed in his cause

Hao Asakura With A Past Lover Reincarnated Reader! 📿

Oh, how he remembered you. Though, then again, how could he ever forget your face? The love of his life, finally reincarnated once again. The only issue? You didn’t remember him this time.

It was a pain in the ass trying to find you again. At first, he tried searching for you himself in hopes of getting you to join him again. However, when that didn’t work, he grew irritated and just decided to wait it out. You’d find your way back to him eventually.

And he was right. The moment he saw you, he couldn’t stop the grin that formed on his face. He was a little agitated that you didn’t remember, but he could wait. After all, he had waited centuries in hell just to see you again. He could wait just a little longer for you.

But then you started getting defiant. When he realized you weren’t on his side anymore, he almost went ballistic. Had it not been for the fact that he had a facade to maintain, he would’ve burned the island down right then and there. How could you, his darling sweetheart, defy him like this?

That’s when he began to remember. He looked back on his previous lives, thinking about the way you used to act. He remembered the thoughts you used to have, that feeling of reluctance whenever you defended him. He realized at that moment just how much he took you for granted.

After getting his head straight, he stopped pursuing Anna and focused his attention back on you. Anna may have his shikigami, but you had his heart. So, after prying his way into your mind, he began making you remember.

At first, he did little things. He used certain phrases and compliments, little things you used to love hearing him say. Whenever you would pause and stare blankly, he’d read your mind and relive those fragmented memories with you. It almost looked like your head and heart were hurting every time it happened. Little did you know that your reaction hurt him too.

He would eventually come out and flat out tell you what he was doing, who he was, and all that. He hated that look on your face. You looked so upset with him, which only hurt him more. He watched carefully as all of your old memories suddenly flooded back to you, causing you to hold your head in disbelief and agony.

He slowly reached out, mumbling little praises and apologies. He pulled you close, closing his eyes as he breathed in your scent for the first time in years. He kept a soft grip on your wrist, using it to gently pull you closer. He placed his thumb on your pulse point, gently caressing it as he nuzzled into your neck.

The two of you stood there for a while, breathing slowly as the sun set. After a few minutes, he lifted his head up just enough to whisper into your ear.

“We meet again…my divine. I won’t let you go again. Come home with me…let me fulfill my promise and make you my queen. I’ve missed you. Hell was lonely without you.”

He then looked into your eyes, silently pleading for you to accept his offer. He read your mind, listening carefully to your racing thoughts as you tried to figure out what to do. All the while, he kept staring at you through hooded eyes filled with nothing but a burning adoration that had been simmering for centuries.

But you didn’t accept. Well, not in the way he thought. Instead, you cupped his cheek and gently rubbed your thumb under his eye, which he happily leaned into. He kissed you slowly, gently, knowing the familiarity put you both at ease. But it was what you said that shocked him.

“Hao…let go. Please. How long have you been stuck on revenge, knowing those who have hurt you are gone? Hao…I don’t want this. I want the truth. The real you. The you that didn’t rely on mind reading, killing, and intimidation to get his way. I’m sorry, but I just—“

He shut you up with another kiss, a more desperate one this time. His body trembled as you forced him to confront the reality he didn’t want to accept. He knew you were right. Those who made his life miserable were gone. What would his mother think if she saw him like this? He didn’t want to think about it.

He leaned into your touch as you cupped his cheek. He wanted to hide in your touch, just like he used to all those years ago. He reluctantly pulled away, staring at you through hooded eyes in a silent plea. When you didn’t budge, he sighed and realized what he had to do.

“I won’t give up on being King. I’ll put my plans on hold…but only if you become my queen. Additionally, if there is no change in this cruel world…then I will do as I said I would.”

You nodded reluctantly, but it was enough for him. Suddenly, he scooped you up in his arms and carried you home. As the two of you laid together, tangled in each other’s arms, Hao finally felt at ease. He’d wait…just for you.

“Y/N…” Hao mumbled, looking at you with a bored expression on his face. When you turned to look at him, he beckoned you over, silently pulling you into his arms. It was weird not hearing your thoughts anymore.

“Why did you stay?” He asked bluntly, not wanting to beat around the bush. It’s not like he ever did around you, but he still wanted to get his point across. “You could’ve gone back…lived your life. Yet, you chose to stay here with me. Why, darling? Why did you stay?”

He looked at you with a blank expression, but his eyes spoke volumes. Deep down, his mind was plagued with doubt, confusion, and fear. Fear that you had stayed behind just because of him. Fear that he had kept you from living your life. Sure, he normally wouldn’t care after years of solitude in hell, but you were different. You were his love and he never wanted to treat you wrong.

“Why? Cause I wanted to.” You said matter-of- factly, as if the answer to his question was obvious. It surprised him, weirdly enough. He didn’t know why he didn’t expect that answer. After all, it was YOU. The weird, impulsive, silly you. Yet, he wouldn’t trade you for anything.

“I see.” He mumbled, still not entirely convinced. However, those thoughts quickly disappeared when he saw you trying to tickle him. You knew he wasn’t ticklish, but you did it anyway. He couldn’t help but snicker at your pathetic attempt.

“Pfft…enough, love.” He chuckled softly, gently petting your head as you continued. He sighed happily, pulling you into his lap in order to pull you closer. He nuzzled his face into your neck, breathing in your sweet scent.

“I love you, my divine.” He whispered into your ear, gently playing with your hair. “I love you too, Hao.” You whisper back, smiling softly as you close your eyes.
