- Sevika had been the queen's loyal queen's guard for years now. She orders, and Sevika follows.
- But that didn't mean she didn't have a mind of her own.
- she had been a bystander and a live witness to all the atrocities the queen put you through after your father's death. she had no limits to her cruelty to neither you or the people.
- your kindness and strength shines in the castle filled with animosity and violence.
- qhen the knight failed in a mission to take down a rogue guard that had went against orders and tried to assasinate the queen, you had come to her defend and begged for her life to be spared, and so the the queen made her your personal guard instead.
- you were glad for it, happy even. blind to the plans that had began unveiling under the queen's thumb.
- Sevika were to watch your every move, as to relieve the queen of her paranoia that you were secretly going to rebel against her to take your rightful place as queen. and then at any sign of it, she was to kill you.
- as Sevika herself expected, you were nothing but kind and obedient, in fear of the lashings that you or the other servants may recieve in response to any flaws you present.
- you would smile and beam at her, the pureness of your heart lives on despite everything.
- but just because you were good didn't mean you were stupid. you were incredibly capable, you learned from the servants how to clean up well, cook and bake. you've read almost every book in the library.
- you knew every single hidden doorways and the routines of the guards through pattern recognition and befriending the servants. and you knew when to stay passive, learning that the only way to survive this is to be smart in the way you move and carry yourself.
- she first saw an active act of disobedience from you when she had caught you sneaking out late at night to join the people for the festival of lights.
- the people were starving and dying and yet they had hope, joy and love inside of them still.
- you talk and treat the people like your own family, giving food you had cooked yourself as much as you could to those who needed it the most.
- the people listened to you, they waited as you passed the food, commanding the crowd to prioritise the mothers and the children, making sure no one gets left behind nor do they overstep.
- you held your own ground like no one she has ever seen, carrying the bags filled with food over your shoulder with a fire in your eye and endurance in your body.
- she only reveals herself as you made your way back to the castle.
- you didn't bother lying to her. The fear in your eyes immediately melted into acceptance as awaited punishment. But Sevika did not tell the queen, nor did she scold you for your behaviour.
- The older woman had instead got on her knees and swore her loyalty and allegiance to you that she vowed would last until the end of her days.
- your relationship dynamic has shifted since then.
- to everyone else, it remains the same. but the both of you could feel the change.
- now everytime your eyes met, respect and adoration lingered.
- gentle touches slowly began woving themselves in your rare intimate interactions with her.
- Sevika became enamoured with you. she tried her best to learn more about you, your conversations became less formal and more playful, testind the boundaries that existed.
- the two of you would go on walks in the woods as everyone else slept.
- she would pluck you apples and watch you befriend the deers and caterpillars. always at arms reach, always catching you before you fall.
- cold winter air bites the skin, but she is always there to keep you warm. and you are always there to warm her heart.
- Once the queen noticed the newfound protectiveness she held for you, her paranoia began.
- she had ordered a different guard to spy on you both. all the late night rendezvous were caught on and only fueled her hatred for your existence.
- she had decided that the best punishment she could give Sevika was to make her be the one to kill you.
- and the knights must serve when orders are given.
- and so with a blade in hand, Sevika had guided you deep into the forest, exposing her orders to you and watching the love and light you held for her fade away from your face. It only took a second before she pulled your hand into hers and sliced your finger off, wincing as the painful scream you let out.
- she worked as quick as she could bandaging the finger up and rushing you deeper in the woods as you fought against her, confused and in pain.
- "i will find you again." that was her last promise to you before you were shoved away into nature, forced to run for your life as she returned back to the castle with your finger to convince the queen that the job was done.
