in ecology we hiked out to a forest to study the succession of oak trees with maple seedlings and saplings :)

is saying “horses” when you pass a field of horses a midwesterner thing or a whole ass national thing bc ive never been in a car when we passed a field and somebody has to just say Horses in a monotone voice and we all look and nodd and keep drivin

a few weeks ago me and @doqtooth (@eurycantha) went to a prairie and scavanged a juvenile raccoon skull!! pics to come in the future

also i got an interview for a research position identifying new species of fig wasps in latin america! i’d be doing a lot of classification of morpho-soecies and DNA collection and analysis

You laugh at this but my college fiends and I deadass took an 8 hour “day drive” to southern Illinois to watch the solar eclipse a few years back and ended up on a 12 hour drive home because of traffic

That rabbit/hare post is messing me up. I’d thought they were synonyms. Their development and social behavior are all different. They can’t even interbreed. They don’t have the same number of chromosomes. Dogs, wolves, jackals, and coyotes can mate with each other and have fertile offspring but rabbits and hares cant even make infertile ones bc they just die in the womb. Wack.

hot take: if ur vegan/vegetarian and you eat agave syrup over honey.... ur a bad person and i WILL go off about it

at this point I’m starting to distrust all vegans not even just the preachy ones, because it really does mean that you’re incapable of doing your own research or recognising shoddy sources and that has a lot more implications than just being vegan and none of them are good
