thinking about ben and jack's relationship again...... i think that while eventually they become extremely close it takes a Long Time to get there. not only do they clash because they were some of the first to arrive and had to sort their shit out quickly + both have their own control issues but like. they both harbor a deep resentment and jealousy for being unable to have the other’s experience.

ben wishes he didn’t remember the cult. he wishes he didn’t remember his death, his transformation, his literal decades of isolation and torture. he would kill to be in jack’s shoes. sure, losing all his memories would suck a bit, but it’s not like his life before the moon children was much better. he’s always said he wishes he could play his favorite video games for the first time again

but jack desperately wants to remember. wants to know who he was, how he became like this, whether his transformation was of his own will or not. he’s haunted by the person he used to be. he’d do anything to have even the slightest memory, any semblance of a connection to how he became the monster he now is. he’s never good at dealing with situations without answers

and they can’t understand why the other thinks the way they do. jack thinks ben is selfish and childish for his desires, while ben thinks jack is stupid and naive. why would you want that fate? why would you want something they consider to be worse than death?

guys, i think the hermits are going to accidentally start a prank war again. because just like last time, a game of telephone has begun. first, false made iskall's build into ''false beans,'' her shop from the previous season. however, to give herself plausible deniability, she signs it with "love, Joel. x" due to his username, smallishbeans.

next, iskall sees this, and completely believes it. he thinks it was joel who pranked him, and as he says to pearl while showing off the sign, which he kept even after tearing the prank down, "joel gave me a kiss." in his most recent video, he pranks joel by sending him loads of anonymous messages in order to completely spam and fill his inbox, preventing him from getting any more mail, with notes such as "thinking about you. x"

of course, joel is going to have absolutely no context for this, because he didn't make the initial prank. so who is joel going to assume sent him all those messages while he was away on holiday? well, i have a guess.

the one issue about the hermit post system is that when you receive mail, the shulker box doesn't state who sent the mail, unless the sender wrote their name down on a piece of paper. because of this, hermits are able to frame other hermits by sending mail using another hermit's name, while the real sender is left anonymous.

while joel is away in japan for two weeks, it's a perfect time for pranking!.....etho

-on stream, cleo said that they are planning on filling joel's mailbox with love confessions from etho. for example, "this made me think of you" and "do you like me? check yes or no."

-someone left a "love joel x" sign at iskall's base. as a response, iskall is spamming joel's mailbox with love letters and flowers, saying "hi x" and "thinking about you x". the thing is... iskall didn't leave his name on any of the notes he sent.

alongside cleo's love confessions from etho, it is very likely that joel will think iskall's love letters are also from etho. it's boutta be the "joel xo" and etho statues all over again

anyways, the hermits are having too much fun with the mail system, which is great because pearl, etho, and tango worked really hard on it. all i know is that when joel comes back online, he's gonna have a big surprise waiting for him lol
