So the sacred month of Hermes approaches! And if I feel like doing something for it this year, I'm gonna try to adhere more closely to the Hellenic calendar for this one. So if I'm not mistaken, it would start on the next new moon...which is May 7th I think?
There comes a time with any project where you have to be like “do I actually want to make an entire music video, or do I just wish an entire music video existed”, and sometimes you realize it’s the latter and it’s best to simply cut the project short. Anyway here’s this.
Fandom: Hades
Song: Glitter & Gold by Barnes Courtney
Programs Used: Clip Studio Paint (Animation), iMovie (Combining w/ SFX)
a part of adult life you never really realize as a child is the constant need for bowls in so many different sizes. you're always doing something and going "man i wish i had the right size bowl for this" no matter how many bowl sizes you have
you have to stay alive. you're going to be such a beautiful middle aged freak. young freaks will see you in the street and know that things can be okay.
You're just a mammal. Let yourself act like it. Your brain needs enrichment. Your body needs rest. You feel hunger and grow hair. You need to pack bond with other sentient things so you don't become unsocialized and neurotic. You are biologically inclined to seek dopamine and become sick when chronically stressed. Outrage about hedonism is made up to place moral value on taking pleasure in sensory experiences. I am telling you that if you don't let yourself be a fucking mammal, as you were made, you will suffer and go insane. No grindset no diets no trying to be above your drive for connection. Pursue what makes you feel good and practice radical rejection of the constructs meant to turn you into a machine. You're a mammal.
Just a list of some ideas from someone who's been discreetly celebrating pagan/witchy holidays for about four? Five? Years on and off.
I don't practice all of my suggestions because I live in a strict home, but I did try and include some ideas that are do-able in more lenient living situations.
Please reblog and add any suggestions that I didn't think of!
Wear firey/bright colors to emulate Beltane's fire festival properties.
Create a Poem or two in honor of Brigid
Listen to music with "poetic" vibes or "fiery" vibes
If you're able to-- light some candles or burn incense. Battery operated candles can also be a perfect substitution!
Cook a nice stove-top meal (the flames of the stove can symbolize the flames of Beltane).
If you can't use a stove but like spicy food, maybe try and get some spicy treats and treat the heat of the spice as being symbolic of Beltane's flames!
Meditate to the sound of crackling flames. Or just meditate in general!
They say the veil between worlds is thinnest on both Beltane and Samhain... Sooo I like to wear a head covering when I go out (and it can be as simple as a bandana or a headband!)
I also like to sit and listen to windchimes, ring bells, and admire my suncatcher because they capture the "otherworldly" vibes Beltane can bring!
If you can, have a bonfire! You can always invite friends/family and have a party but use the time to secretly admire the flames.
I am an absolute weirdo so one of my favorite nighttime activities in place of a bonfire is to sit in my pitch-black room at night and chant some of the poems I made earlier in the day!
Don't feel bad if you can't do any of them for any reason. What really matters is you're here and doing your best to carry on <33
Blessed Beltane!
