General tumblr reminder, since some people don't know: If the person's URL has "deactivated" plus a string of numbers (a date) after it, that means that they manually deleted their own blog. It doesn't mean they were banned. Banned blogs don't have "deactivated" after them and will just be the normal URL you can't click on or interact with. They look very similar and function the same, but they were caused by two very different things.

So this topic fascinate me to no end. As a swede growing up in the late 90s/early 00s, there was only one friend whose family asked me to go wait in their room while they had dinner. Occasionally you were expected to go home before the family had dinner, but that was mostly when I was young enough that you were supposed to be home early anyway.

On all other occasions, I would be offered a seat at the table if I was still there once dinner rolled around.

If it wasn’t lunch/dinner time I were almost always offered at the very least a sandwich, which we are pretty big on as an in-between-meals snack.

I have no statistics about this other than lived experiences and what I hear/see around me, but I want to say that at most visits to other peoples homes you will be offered fika. Fika between breakfast and lunch is usually sandwiches and fika in the afternoon is usually cinnamon buns, cookies or other sweet baked goods.

I’m very curious as to the very obvious correlation of more likely to be offered food the more south you get.

Will you receive food at someone’s house as a guest?
