Le pont de la Tournelle depuis par le quai D'Orleans de l'ile St Louis. Paris 1996. From my project ''Paris que j'aime'' The Tournelle bridge was completely rebuilt in 1918. The bridge is dominated by the statue of Sainte Genevieve patron saint of Paris by the sculptor Paul Landowski. The statue "looks" east because from there, from Attila onwards, the enemies of the capital came… To the left in the reflection of the sun is the famous gastronomic restaurant ΄΄La Tour d'Argent''. The tower behind is of the famous university "Jussieu"-Paris VII.

In 2006 the fortresses were exhibited at the Byzantine Museum, ''Byzantines Fortress in Greece'' then, in 2007 the French Embassy in Athens undertook major exhibitions on the ''Fortresses of Greece''-''Chateaux forts de Grece'' in Rhodes, Kalamata, Patras, Athens, Nafplio. The malvicino soit mauvais oeil, was built by the Flemish knight Jacques d'Avesnes in 1204 at the beginning of the great siege of Acrocorinth by the Franks (1204-1209) (mainly Lombards), by the King of Thessaloniki Boniface de Montferrat, leading figure of the Frankish conquest.

In 2006 the fortresses were exhibited at the Byzantine Museum, '' Byzantines Fortress in Greece'' then, in 2007 the French Embassy in Athens undertook major exhibitions on the ''Fortresses of Greece''-''Chateaux forts de Grece'' in Rhodes, Kalamata, Patras, Athens, Nafplio. To κάστρο στη μορφή που σώζεται σήμερα είναι Φράγκικο. Κτίστηκε τον 13ο αιώνα στα θεμέλια ενός παλιότερου Βυζαντινού φρουρίου που είχε κτιστεί στη θέση αρχαίας ακρόπολης.

Υπήρξε ένα από τα πιο σημαντικά κάστρα στην Πελοπόννησο επί Φραγκοκρατίας

In 2006 the fortresses were exhibited at the Byzantine Museum, ''Byzantines Fortress in Greece'' then, in 2007 the French Embassy in Athens undertook major exhibitions on the ''Fortresses of Greece''-''Chateaux forts de Grece'' in Rhodes, Kalamata, Patras, Athens, Nafplio. Near the archaeological site of Paleopolis, (the most important in Samothrace and one of the most important in Greece) 4km north of Chora, on a hill with a beautiful view, stand the three towers of the Gateluzos, which remind of the short period when the well-known Genoese house defended the island. Despite the name "Paleopolis Towers" that has prevailed, these are not individual towers, but the ruins of a regular medieval castle of the 15th century.

Το περίφημο ''Φραγκόκαστελλο'' λόγω του φαινομένου του αντικατοπρισμού των λεγομενων Δροσουλιτών,χτίσθηκε απο τους Βενετούς όταν κατέκτησαν την Κρήτη,τον 14ο αιώνα.Πολλές ανακατασκευές έγιναν κατα την διάρκεια των αιώνων.

Το Φραγκοκάστελλο θα παραμείνει ως μνημείο του λεγόμενου Βασιλείου της Κρήτης της Γαληνοτάτης Δημοκρατίας της Βενετίας που διήρκεσε 450 χρόνια.

Despite its history, Byzantine, French, Ottoman, Venetian, Russian, French, English, the fortress remains with all the elements of the Venetian fortification architecture of the late 17th century. It is located at the entrance of Lefkada. One of the mildest fortresses, due to the lack of altitude. Worth.!

Θα ξεκινήσω αυτήν την μικρή ιστορική περιήγηση με τον εξαίρετο Κώστα Ουράνη...''Το κάστρο του Αβαρίνου: Σ’ ένα άγριο κορφοβούνι, κατάντικρυ στη Σφακτηρία, απ’ την οποία μόλις το χωρίζει μια στενή λουρίδα από άβαθα νερά, υψώνεται ένα κάστρο εφτά αιώνων. Δεσπόζει πάνω από τον όρμο του Ναυαρίνου κι απ’ την απέραντη φωτεινή θάλασσα, σα μια σιωπηλή και ακίνητη βίγλα των οριζόντων. Είναι το κάστρο του Αβαρίνου. Χτισμένο το 1278 από τον μπάϊλο του Μορέως Νικολό ντε Σαιντ-Ομέρ, στάθηκε για αιώνες ένα κάστρο που γνώρισε μια πολυτάραχη ζωή και τις πιο ενάντιες τύχες. Φράγκοι και Ναβαρροί τυχοδιώκτες, Βενετσάνοι και Τούρκοι, το διεκδικήσανε με την ίδια λύσσα. Άλλα φράγκικα κάστρα είδαν κ’ ευτυχισμένες μέρες γαλήνης. Άκουσαν τραγούδια τροβαδούρων και είδαν έρωτες που άνθισαν, μεσ’ από τα δυνατά τους αγκωνάρια, σαν αγριολούλουδα ανάμεσα σε βράχους. Το κάστρο του Αβαρίνου δεν γνώρισε παρά μόνο την αγωνία εχθρικών πανιών στο θαλάσσιον ορίζοντα και τις άγριες κραυγές του πολέμου. Σήμερα, ερειπώνεται κάτω από το γλαυκό φωτεινόν ουρανό πέτρα με πέτρα, τόσο αδιάφορο για τα καράβια που περνάνε μακρυά, όσο αδιάφορα το βλέπουν και οι ταξιδιώτες να διαγράφει πάνω στο κορφοβούνι του τους ψηλούς ξεκοιλιασμένους πύργους του. Ενα απο τα πιο ενδιαφέροντα καστρα της Ελλάδας. Ο μεσαίωνας και η φραγκοκρατία σε όλο το μεγαλείο. Yψώνεται στην κορυφή του λόφου της χερσονήσου του Κορυφασίου, στη βόρεια είσοδο του Κόλπου του Ναβαρίνου ή Κόλπου της Πύλου έχοντας, σύμφωνα με τον λογοτέχνη Κώστα Ουράνη, «μια θέα εξαίσιας γαλήνης και φωτεινής απεραντωσύνης» Και λίγη (δύσκολη μεσαιωνική ιστορία λόγω ευρείας διαπλοκής...) Η ίδρυση του κάστρου στην κορυφή της άκρας αυτής αποδίδεται στον Νικόλαο Β΄ του Σαιντ-Ομέρ, κατά το 1278.Σύμφωνα με το Χρονικόν του Μορέως, ο Νικόλαος Β΄ Σαιντ-Ομέρ, ο αποκαλούμενος από τον τότε ελληνικό πληθυσμό επίσης ως «Σανταμέρης» και «γερονικόλας», αυθέντης και βαρώνος των Θηβών, όταν ανέλαβε τη διοίκηση του φράγκικου πριγκιπάτου της Αχαΐας (Μοριά) έκτισε το φρούριο για τον διάδοχο και εγγονό του (και σε άλλες πηγές ανιψιό του) Νικόλαο Γ΄ Σαιντ-Ομέρ, τον μετέπειτα και βάιλο του Μοριά, κατά τη διάρκεια της φραγκοκρατίας και του Πριγκιπάτου της Αχαΐας. Ο Νικόλαος Β΄ Σαιντ-Ομέρ έχτισε επίσης και άλλα κάστρα, όπως π.χ. το Κάστρο των Σαιντ-Ομέρ που τμήμα του διασώζεται ακόμα και σήμερα στη Θήβα, προκειμένου να προστατέψει την περιουσία της δεύτερης γυναίκας του, της χήρας του Γουλιέλμου Β΄ Βιλλεαρδουίνου, πριγκίπισσας Άννας Αγγελίνας Κομνηνής, Αγνής για τους Φράγκους, κόρης του Έλληνα δεσπότη της Ηπείρου και του Δεσποτάτου της Ηπείρου Μιχαήλ Β΄ Κομνηνού Δούκα...

Palamidi is the epitome of the architectural fortification art of the Peaceful Republic of Venice. Early 18th century, Hesperia was one of the best fortresses in Europe at the time. In the dramatic siege of 1715, in the last Venetian-Ottoman war (the 7th in a row), it did not withstand the siege, except for 9 days… Let it remain a reference for Nafplion and Greece.

Monemvasia…! The Middle Ages in its glory, as well as the renaissance… The place where I started my photographic journey in 1981… From Byzantium, to the Frankish Empire, to the Despotate of Mystras, to the Venetocracy, to the Papal rule and to the Ottoman laziness until liberation… the rock will remain there as the "Gibraltar of the Aegean" and in its ultimate end to rise the church of Agia Sophia, octagonal style, after the dome of the 14th century…

Το Χλεμούτσι το γνώριζα απο την μελέτη μου στην μεσαιωνική ιστορία...Το απαθανάτισα το 1986,όταν πραγματοπίησα ενα ρεπορτάζ για τα φρούρια της Πελοποννήσου. Ειναι το μοναδικό διατηρημένο ''φραγκικο'' φρούριο-κατοικία,μεσαιωνικής αρχιτεκτονικής του 13ου αιώνα. Χτίσθηκε μεσα σε 3 χρόνια(1220-1223) απο τον περιφημο Γουλιέλμο Βιλλεαρδουίνο-Guillaume II de Villehardouin Πρίγκηπα της Αχάϊας... Απο το φρούριο υπάρχει μοναδική θέα στο Ιόνιο,με τα νησιά Ζακυνθο και Κεφαλονιά. Απο τα φρούρια με την πιο ενδιαφέρουσα μεσαιωνική ιστορία της Ελλάδας. Αγαπημένο...
