     “you don’t need me, hm? even when you decide that rushing right into the very center of a group of enemies is a fool-proof, logically-sound idea?” linhardt folds his arms. a smile is tugging at his lips and he’s doing his utmost to conceal it. “the amount of times i’ve had to direct my healing magic towards you, specifically, caspar… i almost wish i kept score through the years.” 

     admittedly, there’s nothing one-sided about what they have. linhardt knows that caspar has done his utmost for him in battle, as well. that he’s taken blows meant for linhardt on countless occasions. that he’s charged at enemies whose bows were set in linhardt’s direction; arrows positioned to pierce through him. it’s been like this ever since they were in school, fighting rogue bandits in the countryside - and it lasted them throughout the war, as well. 

     “…but it certainly would be boring without you at my side,” linhardt states. “that i’ll agree with. i’d likely be sleeping my entire life away if i didn’t have you there to wake me up.” it’s impossible to conceal his smile any longer. 

     “seems like we’re stuck with each other, doesn’t it?”

A smile slowly came to the edges of his lips before he pressed a kiss to Caspar’s cheek. Despite them being friends for almost a decade at this point, his friend always brought out a sense of childlike innocence within him. He thought of their youth and similar notions behind hushed walls where no one could see. Though he longed for the freedom to make his own decisions on who he should be with and how he should approach such a question, he wanted to keep his feelings to himself where they would eventually rest.

❝ Ah, you have some training to attend to, don’t you? I’d love to spectate on your performance, but I’ve got a bit of other matters to attend to… ❞
