I watched Gladiator II this afternoon. Since it's a sequel to a movie from so many years ago, I thought it was going to be a typical cash-in movie, but I'm pleasantly surprised. It doesn't quite reach the level of the original, because that's a stellar level, but it's pretty good.

92 dead people in a huge storm in my country (valencia community, spain) because the governor of the community decided to end the main disaster prevention service unit of the area because it was an "useless" PUBLIC service, even though every fucking year a storm like this hits the zone.
92 -and counting- dead, tens of missing people, roads, streets and houses destroyed and more than 113k people without light service at home.
climate change kills, and capitalism will let you die

I have an album recommendation for people interested in Greek mythology or even ancient mithology in general.
It is not a very well-known album and since it is by a Spanish artist. If you are from outside Spain I don't think it is very likely that you know it and if you are not from a Spanish-speaking country I see it practically impossible, but it is a very good album, which uses Greek mythology (although there are some references to others as well) as a common thread, sometimes quite literally and other times more metaphorically. I am talking about the album "Quimera" (2019) by Alba Reche, whose cover is the image that appears after this paragraph

Speaking a little more in depth about the album. It is a fairly calm album, which could be classified as alternative music, with a much more acoustic first half, with guitar, piano and very soft percussion, where the artist's voice stands out more than anything and there are several ballads, and a much more electronic second part, although without ever losing the aura of tranquility that characterizes the album.
As for the theme, broadly speaking I would say that it is an album that talks about different types of love, such as "hestia", which is about brotherly love, exemplified by the artist's love for her sister, although there are some exceptions, such as "ares", which as can be guessed from the title talks about war or "asteria", which is a fairly literal transcription of the myth in question. In case you are curious about anything related to the theme of the album, the artist has a half-hour long video on her YouTube channel explaining everything in detail.
Anyway, this is one of my favorite albums and I am very sorry that it is so underrated (largely because it is the debut). Kisses and thank you very much for having come this far.

maybe she’s not marketed towards you personally and the aesthetic and brand she’s currently putting out there isn’t actually designed as an attack towards you and it’s just a tongue in cheek campy subversion of previous era’s femininity and again not designed with your personal feelings in mind at all and it has nothing to do with you?? like i understand stand the need for critiquing in the world but not everything needs to be taken personally
It wasn't personal. I mean, it wasn't even a criticism to her as a person, but the product that's been sold. Anyway, I think you are right in quite a lot of things. Thanks for your answer :)

The message of Sabrina Carpenter's new aesthetic has several things wrong (especially in Espresso and Please Please Please)
To clarify, in general, straight white American women making pop are not my thing, but Sabrina Carpenter is on another level. This is not a criticism of her as a person, but of her as a product, mind you, and I'm going to try to make a constructive criticism, so if anyone responds to me, please do so with respect.
I find it absurd that feminism and human identity in general are all about revolution, social change, and looking beyond capitalism and consumerism, and now Carpenter comes along to hypersexualize herself with an aesthetic that includes pastel colors (including the horrible baby blue, which many people might think I'm exaggerating, but the idea of sexualizing herself with a color traditionally associated with childhood gives me the creeps), pretty, generally "adorable" things, plus perfect hair removal, makeup, and all that. I'm not saying that makeup is bad and that in general it's bad to have a certain self-expression of image, but in this case all of this is encompassed within an aesthetic of "Oh, I'm just a girl, my boyfriend is a bad boy but I'm not going to leave him, long live makeup and consumerism, I'm blonde and American."
I find it very unpleasant and as much as that "I'm just a girl" thing was created by girls as a way of claiming that women can be traditionally feminine without being a vase, as opposed to the idea of a super aggressive "girl boss" that, well, basically rewarded women who had traditionally masculine characteristics, I think it's gotten out of hand and I feel that, although the album may have a deeper intention and all that, the message that all of this aesthetic conveys is that life is much easier if you don't think and look for a hegemonic man and that worries me a lot.
For example, in the espresso video, all the girls are the same, with the same bodies, equally shaved, and they give their perfect boyfriends their credit cards to fill them with whims and that turns my stomach.
One last note is that this whole text is written from the perspective of gender binarism, but of course gender is a spectrum and I feel aesthetics like Sabrina Carpenter's can cause dysmorphia.

being a romantic era poet: a quick how-to guide
walk around in nature contemplating Things. start hiking, swimming, sailing, rowing, shooting, riding, etc. for inspiration
be obsessed with the french revolution and related enlightenment-era figures like rousseau, voltaire, mary wollstonecraft, and madame de staël. be more disappointed by napoleon bonaparte than you are by your own father.
speaking of fathers, your parents and most of your other relatives are all either dying or dead or emotionally abusive. if you have any siblings (full, half, step, or adopted) who DIDN'T die tragically already, then you may choose to be close to them. you also may end up being much TOO close to them. various circumstances may also ban you from seeing them.
be at least slightly touched by madness and/or some other severe illness(es) including but not limited to: consumption, horrors, syphilis, deformities, lameness, terrors, piles, boils, pox, allergies, coughing, sleep abnormalities, gonorrhea, etc. — for which you must take frequent bed rest and copious amounts of Laudanum (opium derivation)
consider foregoing meat and adopting a vegetable diet instead to purify the spirits. you may also abstain from alcohol for the same reasons. alternatively, you may attempt the veggie diet, end up rejecting it, and becoming a rampant alcoholic instead. in romanticism there is no healthy medium between abstinence and excess.
reject, or at least heavily criticize, christianity. refuse to get married in a church and consider becoming a fervent champion of atheism. alternatively, you may embrace catholicism, but only on an aesthetic basis. eastern religions and minority religions are also acceptable, only because they piss off the christians.
if you’re not a self-hating member of the aristocracy and instead have to work for a living, do something that allows you to benefit society, be creative, and/or contemplate life. viable options include, but are not limited to: apothecarist, doctor, teacher, preacher, lawyer, farmer, printmaker, publisher, editor. there is also the possibility of earning a few coins from your art. if you were cursed to be born a She, no worries. we believe in equality. you may choose from these occupations: wife, nanny, housekeeper, spinster, amanuensis (copy writer for a man), lady’s companion, divorced wife, singer/actress/escort, widow, regular escort, tutor, or housewife.
speaking of sexist institutions, try rejecting marriage entirely. Declare your eternal devotion to your lover by having sex with them on your mother’s grave instead.
if you do get married — elope, and only let it be for necessary financial reasons, or to try and save a teenage girl from her controlling family, or out of true love with someone you view as your intellectual equal, or because your life is so racked with scandals and debt that you can only clear your name by matrimony to a wealthy religious woman as your last resort before fleeing the country.
After marriage, quickly assert your belief in the powers of free love and bisexuality by taking extramarital lovers and suggesting your spouse follow suit. If they cannot keep up with your intellectual escapades then consider leaving them. Later on, propose a platonic friendship with them following the separation, or beg them for reconciliation.
If your marriage is happy, try moving in with another bohemian couple to shake things up. Alternatively, you may die before the wedding for dramatic effect.
If you beget children (whether in or out of marriage, makes no matter), do society a favor by choosing to raise them with your beliefs. Consider adopting orphan children, or even non-orphan children. If their parents are poor enough they probably won’t mind. Try kidnapp— I mean adopting — children off the side of the road if you can.
DIE but do it creatively. ideally young. ideas: prophecy your own death, lead an army into war and then die right before your first battle and on your deathbed curse everyone and demand to see a witch, write a will leaving money to your mistresses or some random young man you have an unrequited romantic obsession with, carry a copy of your dead friend's poetry and read it right before you drown so that your washed up corpse can only be identified by his book in your pocket, die while staring at your lover's shriveled up heart that you keep wrapped up in a copy of his own poetry and then be buried with it, die of the poet's illness (consumption) while your artist friend draws you and then be buried with your lover's writing, get mysteriously poisoned (by yourself) after a series of scandals and accidents and then have your family announce that you were killed by god, die from romanticizing poverty or receiving bad reviews from literary critics, die from walking or horseback riding in the cold and the rain while poeticizing, etc.

All of all quiet on the western front (both book and film)
Punching Nazi’s in the face
Turned up earth

If that makes sense, but hope they help you find the right tunes for your mood setting needs
Feel free to suggest more to the list or help me sort them better, I tried to describe what the songs felt like but some might be strange or unfitting bc I didn’t know how to best describe them lol just let me know!

Time to overanalyze one comment from Mugen Train
At one point, I think either while he’s dying or while he’s being a little bastard and talking to himself about all his future plans in a gay femboy voice you’d expect to find in a hentai, Enmu makes a simple comment about the Upper Moons.
He says something along the lines of, “The Upper Moon ranks haven’t changed in a century”, thus implying that they haven’t changed - in members or in positions - for at least a hundred years. That leads to two things that led me to realize.
Realization one - Daki & Gyutaro.
When Daki and Gyutaro were transformed into demons, Daki/Ume was thirteen, and Gyutaro was 26.
When they were killed in The Entertainment District arc, she was 113 and he was 126. Implying they’ve aged exactly one hundred years. If we take Enmu’s comment into account, this means that Daki and Gyutaro would have had to become Upper Six within their very first year of being demons, as the ranks haven’t changed in a century. Making them the only demons to have risen not only to Twelve Kizuki, but to Upper Moon within one year.
Realization Two - Douma.
This second realization also has to do with Daki & Gyutaro. Douma is 133, and became a demon at twenty.
This means that when he met Daki and Gyutaro, he was only 33. But that’s not the important part. It’s the hundred years part.
Douma was only Upper Moon Six when he turned Daki and Gyutaro into demons; he was the lowest rank of the Upper Moons, but higher than a Lower Moon.
If the Upper Ranks haven’t changed in a hundred years?
That means Douma rose from Upper Six to Upper Two in a single year.
He went from the lowest rank in the Upper Moons to being the third most powerful demon in existence… In one year.
As he mentions during the Upper Moon Meeting, this is astounding in comparison to, say, Akaza. Akaza is roughly 218 years old, approx., and he’s Upper Three. It took him two hundred years to reach Upper Three, and meanwhile Douma - only 133 years old - is already higher ranked than him, in a much shorter span of time.
Douma is fucking powerful as hell, you guys.
(…I had to make it about Douma, as usual)
