hi wait what
I noticed you tagged #diadem of starlight on one of my recent posts and I thought oh, that's an interesting and unique tag! I'll go see what that blog's about and
Iiii am not 100% sure about the oak leaves but the birches/violets thing, hello
I understand that's three different entities there so maybe not actually the same, but
yeah
This is a shrine for Faery Queens, for both the Goddesses I personally work with, and also the Role they share. Each individual goddess will have her own tag, and for now, the tags of my three are:
Fand: crown of pearls Anand: cloak of feathers Aine: mantle of gold

Oof. Yeah. Not engaging in the specific ritual of "saying thanks" does not mean don't show gratitude! That's probably going to be worse.
in search of randomness , just come across youtube short which say : do not give thanks to faeries for gifts or favours . this can be fair enough rule - different social interpretations , whether treat as debt , lie about feelings , or just uncreative script .
...
video then suggest to instead simply nod and walk away . absolutely not , please , find something genuine to say that can prove attention and appreciation !

•Sacred Earth, Sacred Sky is a brand new otherkin zine meant to create representation for alterhumans of color. Our experiences as alterhumans of color are important to hear, though our representation in the wider alterhuman community is incredibly sparse due to us being so fragmented and our unique experiences not being given much attention. This new project seeks to change that sad fact.
•Submissions for this otherkin zine may consist of anything from short stories, descriptions of memories, artwork, photography, or poems. There will be no limit to how many submissions can be presented in this zine or how many experiences you want to share. We do not want to limit how someone tells their story.
•A disclaimer though, this zine is for alterhumans of color to contribute to ONLY. This means you must have a significant amount of NON white heritage to be able to contribute to this zine. We do not promote any sort of "pretendían" mentalities, all those contributing will be asked questions to prove that they are who they say they are.
•Are you an alterhuman of color and who wants to get updates on this zine, or perhaps you simply want a safe space to express yourself around other alterhumans of color? Then join the otherkind of color alliance! This space seeks to provide a safe space away from racism, white ignorance, and discrimination, for alterhumans of color to express themselves and talk about their unique experiences! We promise that we're a friendly bunch of beings!

Wait what? Directory? I missed this.
It's so awesome to see someone wanting to do a directory of alterhumans who are into magic / spirituality / the occult / etc.
It made me think about all the folks I've spoken to or heard of who have these incredibly unique practices that are directly influenced by their alterhumanity. From folks who specifically recreate magical practices from the home of their fictomere, to archetropers who embody their tropetypes as a part of their spiritual practice, to alterhumans who venerate gods from totally different universes/realities/etc. (shoutout to all my Hircine worshippers out there), to otherkin and therians who talk about the important religions and cultural histories of their 'types and have that as a focal point in their spirituality... There are so many hundreds of wildly interesting lives that folks are fearlessly carving out for themselves in the way that fits and feels best, whether that's creating something brand-new from the ground-up or building off of pre-existing notions in fantastical ways in regards to their spiritual and magical practices and thoughts, and it's so goddamn cool and inspirational.
I wish there was a collection or zine of folks just talking about this.

Ye Auld Glamourbombs
I was going through old LiveJournal memories links (a sort of bookmarking function, for those of you not familiar with the LJ/Dreamwidth site features), as I'm thinking of finally deleting one of my LJ accounts... I had a whole category for posts in the community glamourbombs. This is just a selection. (Some of the others, I was kinda "meh" on reading them just now; and a couple were like... yeah, in 2005 you maybe could have done that without getting shot, but you'd be taking your life in your hands, now.) Some of the following are more about general philosophy/technique than specific prompt ideas.
Glamour vs. Glitter
Fae trees on maps
Tailoring to your audience
Faerie treasure maps
The Glamour Bomb Squad
Engaging with the chemically enhanced outside of clubs
Catching Robin Goodfellow
Faerie Forum, Downtown
Save Pixies!

just think about ... how to even say ? suppose , how kossai experience and observe faerie existence in contrast to folklore and expectations - would be curious to hear thoughts from other faerie folk here too .
people tell stories about faeries and other mythfolk , and that is part of what make up folklore . even still , for various reasons faerie was not necessarily word of choice , even in english . these stories might come from particular regions , but also share aspects with neighbours , and sometimes even strangers farther away - to point that faerie can be unclear designation for those who study folklore .
as well , not all faerie kith have folkloric counterparts - whether because these folk stay hidden from humans through history , particular stories end up lost to time , humans observe but never find any way to categorise more specifically , only seem to emerge long after storytellers die down , or otherwise .
sometimes , someone is mythfolk that could easily categorise as faerie , but that individual reject place among faeries . sometimes , whether someone fall under category is just unclear , especially as words might refer to several different ideas and stories . other times , faerie might have form that resemble some other mythfolk , but those creatures largely not faeries . is aos sí faerie ? sure , until god . is mermaid faerie ? yes , and no , and sometimes in between . is dryad faerie ? probably not , until yes .
also , faeries not really geographically bound . even different otherworlds and underworlds that associate with particular earthly regions could potentially have entrances anywhere , especially as humans of those regions move around world and bring echoes of history along . even so , that is not to say that other regions simply " misidentify " faeries to be something else , or that faerie is correct universal term - those creatures and mythical peoples still very much separate .
faeries can be born - though that word choice can sometimes be can of worms too - in these worlds beneath earth , or , up on surface . as kossai experience and observe , but still would not say universal , such earth-surface faeries can form core connections to aspects from environment of birth . that is not to say inherently protector or guardian , but that might consider such to be important part of selfhood , and reflect this aspect bodily in some way .
all of this to say : fuck if even faeries know how to define faerie sometimes , ha ! still , appreciate those who read into faerie folklores - can definitely find patterns of faerie traits and what set faeries apart from humans and other creatures alike , just ... sometimes more wibbly than , say , what define humans . sometimes easier to define specific kith that fall under umbrella of faerie , but even then might just need to flip table and be done .

The toadstools grew in a perfect ring the width of a child’s hula hoop.
They were upside down and clinging to the ceiling like stalactites.
“I have concerns,” she said.
“So do I,” they said. “If I step under it, does it count as stepping into a fairy circle? I mean, if a plane flies over a fairy circle it doesn’t count as stepping into it, but do the same rules apply if you’re walking under a fairy circle?”
“Right.”
“Actually, what is the area of effect for a fairy circle? Is it like a sphere that has the same circumference of the circle, so if I just duck underneath it I’ll be fine? Or is it a cylinder? How far up does the cylinder go? Or down, in this case.”
“Right.”
“Some of the many mysteries of the fey we may wonder about forever.”
They continued to stare up at the ring of toadstools. Thoughtful seconds ticked by.
“See, my concerns are mostly about how much moisture you have in your room.”
“Sorry?”
“You have mushrooms growing out of your ceiling.”
“Oh.”
She patted their back with sympathetic pity. “I appreciate that you live in a world of whimsy and delight, and I don’t want to squash that because I love you, but I also really don’t want you to die of black mold.”
“She’s right, you know,” said the goblin sitting upside down in the circle.

[Image description: A photo of four people splashing in a river in a forest. Three of them are dressed as fierce mermaids or water spirits, mouths open with many sharp teeth, and are dragging the fourth under the water to drown them. A huge thank you to my friends for helping me with this shoot back in 2020. :) You know they truly love you when they’re willing to jump into a river with you first thing in the morning. ♥️
Wishing you all a warm and safe summer weekend.

[Image description: Four photos at different angles of a person wearing a black dress modeling a piece of wearable art made of copper-colored wire, twisted into the shape of plant stems twined together. It loops around their neck like a halter and around their waist as a belt. It's adorned with copper roses, iridescent green-blue-purple beetle shells as leaves, and many smaller bits of stone and bone at the end of the wire "fronds".]

Been working on this piece for a while! 400+ individual pieces of wire, featuring cicada wings, beetle shells, bones, fossils, and more, along with handmade copper roses. And it glows in the dark!

my mum doesn't even realise she's otherkin lol
my entire life she's referred to herself as a pixie, and today i told her there's an entire community of people like her, who identify as pixies and fairies and whatnot.
her response? "i'm not like them because they just identify as pixies. i am a pixie." oh girl...
