being a psych therian is a trip bc in some cases you can sorta see the strings that control the system. i wanted to be a dog (at first), then other kids treated me like a dog, then my ex-partners treated me like a dog, then professionals treated me like a dog, like dude everyone on the fucking globe treated me like a dog my whole goddamn life. and now some of those same people are upset that i grew up to be one. unbelievable

I'm so... I'm so confused...
Someone just went off at me in a comment, not on here, for using "delusion/s/al" and "mentally ill" in my info-graph about how physical identifying nonhumans/alterhumans exist and have been a part of these communities since the beginning, telling me that they are, and I quote...
"slurs created by doctors and therapists to demonize and strip agency from anyone whom they deem “not normal”."
Like... what???
I can't...
please someone try and explain to me what the fuck is going on here???

Nonhumans are here, even if you do not see us. We always will be. We are often hard to spot, but can be found doing all the things a human might.
A cat went to work at an event stall for a mental health service.
A massive sea serpent wanted to go to science class because it enjoyed it more than the rest of those living in its shared form.
The void sat down, huddled up in a blanket, to watch a tv show with its partners. It had to stop watching after a bit, but enjoyed spending time with those close to it anyway.
A wolf went to a psychologist appointment and gratefully drank the hot chocolate they were offered in the waiting room.
A shapeshifting being of pure darkness spoke publicly about trans rights in front of politicians and then went to the pride festival he helped fight to keep alive.
A dragon went to school so the others sharing his human body could have a break.
A manifestation of the fear of madness itself sat in the food court at the mall eating mochi and drinking tea while waiting for its friends to get back from shopping.
A witch drew a picture of his cardinal bird and shared the work he was so proud of with his friends.
A cockatoo borrowed the next book in his favourite series from the school library and almost couldn't wait the whole day to go home and read it.
An alien went camping and watched the birds outside and the way the wind made waves and patterns on the water.
A fallen angel went shopping for sunglasses to shield his eyes from how bright the sun was.
A harpy went shopping for new plants to look after. He named a few because he loved them so much, and sent pictures to all of his friends.
An anthropomorphic hedgehog traded Pokemon cards with his peers at school. He was happy with his collection.
You may not see us, and you may feel alone, but you are not. We are just hidden. We are in more places than you'd think, and in the places you'd least expect. We are complex, we are valued, and we are here.

I had a coworker laugh today and say; "We can't line them up boy girl because what if one of them is non-binary or identifies as a wolf?"
This was a joke to her. A mockery of the very idea of being either of those things. She did not say this in the spirit of progression.
I had to sit there, both non-binary and non/alterhuman, realising that to this woman both of those things are linked. Not just linked, but identically ridiculous and worthy of mockery. Otherwise, why start laughing at the suggestion? Why would she and the person next to her be chuckling hard enough to go red? What was funny about the statement, other than the implied stupidity of the identities? Nobody else laughed, and the subject was quickly moved on and taken more seriously. Because yes actually, the person who brought it up had in fact at her last school stopped lining kids up boy-girl because it was pointlessly gendered and didn't always solve the 'messing about in the line' issue just because two kids of the 'same gender' were next to each other.
Anyway my point is, when people like this and many more like it already link queerness especially transness with non/alterhumanity in a negative way, I don't think we should be shy about doing it but in a positive way too. Let's reclaim this link between identities by promoting the beauty and validity of both of them.

The wolf's fangs are like knives. They are made for killing, but their kills are utilitarian. To the wolf, killing is surviving. Killing is its nature. The wolf's fangs are utensils first and weapons second.
The bison has no pragmatic excuse for its horns. The bison doesn't kill to survive. Killing is not in its nature. The bison's horns are like swords, only there to hurt others in the name of self-defense, or to spar in the name of pride.
Humans fear the wolf's fangs because they understand the effectiveness of a pragmatic utensil. But humans are not the prey of wolves.
Humans should fear the bison's prideful defensiveness, for when your only protection is a sword, your only defense is a swift and ruthless offense.

oh you're a tiktok otherkin? that's fine! oh you're otherkin for fun? that's also fine! oh you identify as otherkin as a coping mechanism? that's okay! oh you identify as otherkin but not spiritually or psychologically? that's alright! oh you're otherkin but sometimes or partially you still identify as human? that's totally okay! oh you're otherkin but you don't shift? that's totally alright! oh you're otherkin but your kintype(s) are not common? that's totally fine! oh you're otherkin but your kintype(s) are common? that's completely okay!
these otherkins don't harm our community as long as they're respectful to us and we're respectful to them, there's no harm in anyone <3

I’m nonhuman
not in a “I’m trapped in a human body and hate it” kind of way
or a “I was sent here for a reason” kind of way
but more like “I’m a dog disguised as a human pretending to fit in so I can enjoy the benefits of humanity such as chocolate, video games, and collecting cute things”

Static image version of a previously posted video. All images are ALT text, but I shall also paste the text here:
COMMUNITY PSA: A reminder that those who identify physically as nonhuman are welcome and have always, and will always, be a part of the therian, alterhuman, nonhuman, otherkin, and similar communities, and can use ANY of these labels.
Whether their reason for identifying this way is spiritual, due to delusions, trauma, mental health, conditions such as lycanthropy or zoanthropy or is similar to the notion of "this is my body, and I am nonhuman, therefore my body is nonhuman" is their business and theirs alone.
People outside of the communities will always find a way to dislike us, and trying to cater to them by putting down other members of these groups will never make them fully accept us. Playing into the "Us vs Them" mindset only pushes the community apart.
All I hear when I see videos and comments from fellow therians, nonhumans, otherkin and alterhumans talking about these identities being ONLY non-physical is, "well, we OBVIOUSLY don't identify physically as animals/etc. We're not like those CRAZY people!"
Which is not only ableist but paints those who do identify physically in a bad light, whatever their reason may be. Delusions and mental illnesses that may cause them does not mean the identity of that individual is fake or wrong. So treat others nicely, even if you may not understand.
Not only that but delusions and the mental illnesses that cause them do not always equate to distressing or bad. Unlearn the idea that such things are an indicator of something being wrong and so has to be fixed because that mindset hurts many who live unbothered lives with them.
All of my accounts will always be safe spaces for those who have physical nonhuman and alterhuman identities. Just as they will be a safe space for those whose identity is non-physical. The only one who can decide what and who you are is yourself.
Stay true to yourself! Ignore, report and block the haters! Your happiness is more important than their ideas of you!

For those calling for dehumanization, please read
I don't see this a lot in the alterhuman/nonhuman communities, but I still do on occasion and I feel like something is being misunderstood here. To be not human is not to be dehumanized, that is not what the term is used for! It doesn't mean "to be considered not human", it means "to be considered less than human". Being nonhuman doesn't mean to be dehumanized, dehumanization is not a good thing! Being treated and treating others humanely is! Even animals should be treated humanely!
Dehumanization is a very real issue minorities face all over the world. To be dehumanized is to be stripped of rights, autonomy, selfhood, etc, to be treated as lesser and worthy of nothing. It's troubling to occasionally see people in the alterhuman/nonhuman communities asking for such a thing, presumably not knowing the weight and connotation of the word "dehumanize". Please please please stop it, dehumanization is not something we as a community should be asking of anyone.

Pro tips from a therian who was open about being a therian in high school for others currently/about to be in high school:
If you wear a tail to dances, hold onto it when out on the dance floor because freshmen will pull on it. Anywhere crowded really depending on your school you're gonna want to hold onto it while walking.
REPORT PEOPLE. If they bark at you, report it. If they pull your tail, report it. If they yell at you, threaten you, throw food at you, etc, report them. It dosnt matter if you're reporting so often it annoys the school staff, do not let those people feel like they can continue their behavior because it is not appropriate.
If you are someone who likes to fight back, do not bark or meow whatever back at them. Here's alternatives though: make direct eye contact with a blank/dead stare for an extended period of time. Bring a bag of dog or cat treats to give them. Say "badboy/girl! no barking/meowing!" in the tone of voice you'd use for an animal or say "whos a good boy/girl??".
Be yourself, don't let the bullies stop you from being you because dollars to donuts you're gonna inspire others to be themselves as well (I know from experience) and it'll draw the right people towards you.
that's all I can think of for now but those are my best tips, stay strong and don't let bullies get to you! you are valid and awesome
