I'm finally launching the new video project to wish Chris Colfer a 🎂Happy Birthday🎂 from all of us! The title will be "How you make a difference"

For those new to this, I've been organising videos for his birthday for TEN years now 😱 I try to get together as many people as possible, I choose a theme -something about Chris obviously, ask people to send a pic or video and then I edit everything together! What I love the most, and hopefully he likes too, is putting together messages from his fans from all countries and ages, all brought together by love and appreciation of him.

This year's theme will be "how you made a difference" + ..aliens 😜 to support his new book! Hope you'll participate!

You'll have to submit TWO PARTS, so you have to send either 2 videos or 2 pics, one for each part!

➡️PART 1) I want you to share the reason why you think Chris made a difference, it can be in the world, for you, whatever.

HOW TO SUBMIT: You can:

-🎥 record a video of yourself telling about why he made a difference. Video lenght: max 20 seconds

or

-📸 write down the reason why he made a difference on a cardboard, take a pic of the cardboard with yourself in it if you want. Pic: max 3 lines sentence

->the video can be of yourself talking, appearing or not appearing if you're camera shy, or showing the cardboard

->the pic can be of yourself with the writing, or just the writing

➡️PART 2) I want you to wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY with an ALIEN- THEMED pic or video! It means you have to include something alien related to your vid or pic, such as:

an ufo-themed t-shirt, a print of the cover of his upcoming book "Roswell Johnson saves the word", drawing of something alien-related to show in the pic/vid, you dressed up, you showing some alien themed book, being in an UFO relevant place.. whatever comes to your mind!

HOW TO SUBMIT: You can:

- 🎥 film yourself wishing him a happy birthday with the alien related detail

or

-📸 write down the birthday wish on a cardboard with the alien related detail and take a pic with yourself in it if you want.

->the video can be of yourself talking and not appearing if you're camera shy

->the pic can be of yourself with the writing, or just the writing

CHRIS COLFER'S BIRTHDAY VIDEO 2023!

Hi! With great joy I'm ready to launch, hopefully with your help and participation, Chris Colfer's 2023 birthday video, "From then to now"

I've started thinking about all the years we've been knowing Chris and following his amazing career, his projects and achievements. Related to this, I focused on the fact that since last year we've been celebrating the anniversaries of his book's publications and on how proud he is of being an author... and that's when the inspiration for the video came! We will be going down the memory lane, thinking back to when we first knew him, up until now!

Here are the instructions to participate in this year's project, if you're doing the video you can send just one, if you take pics you'll have to send two, one for each part!

I want you to share:

➡️ the first memory you have of Chris, how you got to know him, the first moment you thought how amazing he is

➡️AND then your favorite quote from his books! Plus wish him a Happy Birthday!

You can either:

Hope you are all ready to take part in a new project for Chris' birthday!

Last year has been amazing, let me remind you that Chris told us we mean the world to him! ❤️

So I hope you will take participate in this year's project, I couldn't be more grateful for each and everyone of you participating!

As usual, I don't do this to get attention, and you know you are all free to make him your birthday wishes, but I love the idea of showing him how much he brings people together. That's why, in addition to all your individual tweets, I hope you'll want to join me in this project, to let him have a video full of love and positive thoughts from many different people.

Here the 2 parts that will compose the video, please submit BOTH of them!

PART 1: I want you to choose a WORD that defines what his books mean to you.

i. e. "your books mean magic to me" "your books make me happy" "your books inspire me". Be creative, think of everything positive his books make you feel!

I decided to make again a video for Chris' birthday this year. Spreading love is always the right choice and we all need it during this rough time.

I need to say a BIG thank you to the many people who supported me last year when I was doubting myself, you know who you are, and to those who every year keep participating. And a thank you in advance to anyone who will take part in the video this year.

This is the theme I came up with, hope you'll like it ❤️

Do you make costumes for yourself or for others to purchase?

I got a few messages like this one in my inbox asking if I sell costumes or make costumes for others, so I thought I'd address this topic!

Sorry, I don't sell costumes and I don't take commissions.

First of all, I leave that to professionals who have studied how to properly sew. I'm just a self-taught costume maker, I never learned the techniques, I create costumes that fit myself, that way I can undo and redo as much as I need when I get it wrong 🤣

Even if I'd probably be able to make costumes for others, I don't feel like I could achieve the quality needed to actually sell them and I wouldn't feel comfortable with making money from something I do for fun whose copyright belongs to Chris.

Thanks for asking anyway, I'm flattered! ♥️

Hi everybody, here we go with Chris' 30th birthday video, "you mean happiness to us".

I thought I would use as an inspiration this difficult time we're living, trying to dispel the negative thoughts with good and positive ones.

We are all being affected by the situation on different levels.

I've read many of you are using Chris' books to get distracted, feel better, escape from reality for a while. Not to talk about the teachers reading his books for their classes, or the parents entertaining their children.

That is the theme of this year's birthday project.

I want you to focus on the POSITIVE THOUGHTS that Chris and his books inspire, to help you holding on when you need it the most, or the HAPPINESS he brings to your everyday life.

I want you to wish him a happy birthday while explaining, in a video or a short letter, how Chris and/or his books inspire positivity and help you deal with your everyday life.

The detailed instructions:

-lf you make a video (as usual recommended for a more personal message❤️, but not mandatory)

1)you wish him a happy 30th bday

2)you explain how&why he inspires positivity when you need it (it can be his books or about him, his singinig/acting.. anything)

3)you can also show in the video the results of his positive inspiration if they are artistic- like drawing, creating costumes, performing; otherwise, it's fine to just explain your emotions.

Video max 2 minutes long!

-If you write him a letter:

1)you wish him happy 30th bday

2)you write in the letter how&why he inspires positivity when you need it (it can be his books or about him, his singing/acting.. anything) and you send a picture or a scan of the letter. You can also send an additional picture of yourself, to show him our lovely faces in person. ❤️ In the pic you can also show the results of his positive inspiration if they are artistic- like drawing, creating costumes, writing.

The letter can be up to one page long, but it has to be a VERY CLEAR PIC and perfectly readable. It's better if the letter extends orizontally and not vertically (explanatory pic attached), so it shows bigger in the video.

Don't forget to be very enthusiastic, colorful and fun about the BIRTHDAY WISH , it's his 30th and this is first of all a bday video!!!

My Chris' signing costume, the making of

I thought I'd post here the making of the costume I wore to Chris' signing, partly because I was SO HAPPY of how it came out, then because many people asked and complimented me, so hopefully this might be interesting for someone.

Everything happened so fast it's still a blur, I always dreamed about meeting Chris and in my head I would make him the best gifts, tell him so many things.. yeah, sure 🤣

I decided I would put everything into a costume which could celebrate all his books, as the ultimate praise after so many years following him and his achievements. I wish I made him a costume, too, I've always wanted to do that, but I barely finished mine in time. I actually gave him a little gift I threw him in a bag without even showing him 🤦‍♀️ and I didn't even take a pic of it. It was a pencil holder I decoupaged with pages of his books. Attached to it, a 3d monarch butterfly which had the titles of his main books impressed on the wings. It looked cool 😬

Anyways, back to the costume. I worked hard on it every evening and night for the 2 weeks prior my departure. It had to be perfect and it had to show all my love, respect, gratefulness for him. That's what I tried to tell him: the costumes aren't just costumes, there's so much more behind; they have been my way to feel better, to keep my mind occupied, the only thing I could think of creating when I felt like I wasn't good enough for anything. And also a way to show him how much his art is appreciated, important and inspiring.

That's why hearing him say the costumes make him smile all the time was the best compliment in the world.

I started by scanning and laser printing on paper the books' spines, then I applied them on a 3mm foam and covered them in vynil glue to give them a plastic and sturdier finish.

I sew a faux leather corset to which I applied golden lace decorations (I wanted the dress to have this vintage/patchwork/decadent look).

Then I glued the books' spines to the corset-it's been hard to respect the bodice shape.

The sleeves had a medieval shape, I sewed on the them the books' covers which I HAND PAINTED ON FABRIC one by one. Sorry for the caps, but it's been one of the longest and most difficult things to do. No one believed they were hand painted, you can see the wip in the pics 😂 I used a grid to have the main reference of proportions, then drew on fabric with a charcoal pencil, then painted with fabric colors (which are quite dense, if you dilute them the color won't show, so I basically use them pure and doing details on such small figures is SO HARD).

For the gown, I again scanned some pages from the books and had them printed on fabric, trying to create different shapes. I sew a simple golden asymmetrical skirt, applied the pages to it (I had to replace them 10 times before it looked OK 🤣) and added some golden tulle/fabric in random places to give the skirt a more asymmetric-layered look.

I also made a pink foam hairpiece recreating the ATOM fairies' wings.

.. and that's all folks!

The best thing is that I was able to wear the costume and lace the corset all by myself - with some serious contortions, but I managed 😂

I had the best time and my trip has been worth every single minute, I got so much love and smiled all day long -I still am smiling! 💕

Chris' birthday project 2019: Dear Chris, Happy Birthday! Love, us"

So, I felt a bit nostalgic lately, remembering how much I loved writing letters, how romantic and magic it is to receive and write them.

I thought it would be nice, in a world where social media and instant messaging have taken up our way of communication, to go back to how it felt to write down our feelings, in this case how we feel about Chris and to wish him a Happy Birthday.

What I'm asking this year is to write him a SHORT letter containing a birthday wish and a SHORT sentence about anything you want to write to him.

I'll obviously gather all the letters in a video, so it's more immediate for him to read them, but I thought I will also send him a scrapbook by mail with a collection of all your messages I will print and put together, so the letters will keep their meaning.

These are the instructions :

1) WRITE CHRIS A SHORT LETTER CONTAINING :

-DEAR Chris, (it has to start as a letter, of course!)

-A BIRTHDAY WISH

-ONE SENTENCE ABOUT ANYTHING YOU WANT TO TELL HIM (Please, don't write long sentences, it wouldn't be easy to be shown on a video, we want to send an immediate and easy message to him)

2) YOU CAN CHOOSE TO SEND ME THE LETTER:

-either as a video where you first show your letter and then you read it (please prefer this if you can!) - > if you send a video reading the letter, I need you to also send me a clear pic of just the written letter, to add it to the scrapbook.

-or as a picture with you in it, so you write your short letter on a cardboard and send a picture of you holding it - > again send me a separate pic of just the letter without you in it, for the scrapbook

-or as a pic of your short letter without you in it

RECOMMENDATIONS:

-Messages in your own language are very welcome and much appreciated, but don't forget to send a translation!

-Make your letter beautiful and artsy! Be original! Film yourself while writing the letter, read it in a beautiful place with a great view, use a cute writing paper, draw something in it.

-If you send a pic, write in big letters, preferably black on white, and send a clear pic in a good light!

-I STRONGLY ask you to prefer videos of you talking, or pics of yourself, because it's so much more meaningful to show him our faces and voices. But if you aren't comfortable with this, just a pic of the letter is ok as well!

Morina's costume, a WIP

Hi!

I'm so glad to come back with a new post and a new wip! On Halloween I posted pics of my newest costume from #TLOS6 by Chris Colfer, Morina!

Since I work hard on my costumes, I really wanted to post some pics of the making of, so here we are!

I forgot to take pics while cutting and sewing the lilac and violet skirts, but that's just very basic.

It's been the belt and horns that took most of the time to be made, so this wip is basically. about those 😁

I first made the belt out of paper to find the right proportions, and I cut the horn's patterns as well. The horns are then made with 5mm foam.

I then glued the horns together and used some gesso to smooth the edges, then I put some Flexipaint primer and then painted them.

The horns are then fixed to the wig with bobby pins, but I'm going to fix them on a headband to make them stay more firmly and prevent them from slipping.

The belt is again made with foam, primed with flexipaint (it's the best primer to keep the paint from cracking if it gets bended) and then colored with acrylic spray paint. I then painted the small lines by hand.

The squid on the central part of the belt and the stones along the belt are made by hand with a mouldable polyester thermoplastic which acts like clay when warm, then becomes strong plastic when it cools.

I glued everything together, then sewed by hand the black lace.

The black frame around the aqua gem is made with black pearls glued on a foam layer.

To make the skulls stay in good position on the skirt and not just hanging down, I interlaced the chains with wire. I then sewed the chains to the lace.

I sewed the bustier, made the collar putting a stiff lining inside to make it stand, then sewed it to the bustier. I then added, sewing by hand, the feathers.

This heap down here are the 2 skirts and the black pettycoat I put under them to make the skirt look wider.

I painted my skin with lilac Kryolan aquacolor, the color looked already great, I just added some darker shades to make the cheeks more hollow and the facial expression more dramatic. It took A LOT of time to make the color smooth.

That's all! Next post will be some pics of me as Morina, hopefully I'm making a proper photoset soon - those were taken in our garage by my husband, and I terrified some kids which were doing trick or treat in our apartments block 😂😂😂

Chris Colfer's Birthday video: “This is me..thanks to you!”

New project for Chris’ 28th Birthday!!!

Chris inspires so many of us, he makes us dream and smile with his books and his kindness. I'm sure he changed our lives and who we are in a way. It can be something big or something small, but he did change us for the better.

So, this is what this year's video will be about, inspired but the beautiful song “This is me” from The Greatest Showman. The way Chris changed us and made us better, whether it's our personality or our life.

PART 1

I want you to send either a video or a picture telling him BRIEFLY how he changed you, how he inspired you. It has to be just one sentence: “I am stronger because of you” “you changed the way I feel about..” “I met so many friends thanks to you” “I had the courage to start acting/singing/writing because of you”. As usual you can make it more special by adding his books, dressing up, whatever you prefer. Be honest, make it personal, make it SPECIAL. Lets show him the difference he has made and keeps making. You can film yourself, or write the sentence down on a cardboard and take a pic

WISH HIM A HAPPY BIRTHDAY AT THE END!

I will add the tag #thisisme on every video/pic.

TIPS: -If you take a video, try to go outside, vids taken inside are always very dark. -If you take a pic, REMEMBER TO BE IN GOOD LIGHT AND WRITE VERY BIG, thick, dark letters on a lighter background. Pics are often very dark and hard to read. Prefer pics made with the back camera instead of selfies!

PART 2 *optional (for those who want to do more):

I want to put together the “This is me” song during the video (if enough people are participating), not necessarily singing it, just the lyrics, so if you feel like it, ask me to give you a line from the song you will have to either read on video, sing, or write the line on a cardboard and take a pic of it.
