Tangent on using her hair to signal personal growth

she relaxes and straightens her hair (rejection of herself), then does a big chop in part 2 starting her natural hair journey signaling her starting to accept herself as she is!!! hair is so important to black girls especially, and i wanted that metaphor (and visual aid) to be present in all the mcs in wolf grrrl. ik many a girl who can relate to wearing straight hair because it feels more "acceptable" or "easy."

lunes tail (straight hair or not) is always her natural hair texture. her wolf fur is also curly :)

anyways its so interesting to rewatch it in full because i also watched it while it was airing. like I used to HATEE the townie episodes, but theyr so much more endearing now cause im not waiting for a plot point to get wrapped up in real time. im also astonished about how gay it actually is!!! its sooo much gayer than i remember. every ep with ruby and sapphire i felt like i was interrupting something so much lesbianism....id love to see how itd be like without the network interference and censorship. still rewatching future but i need to get more gay and weird with my ocs immediately!!!!
