❄ WINTER OMENS BIG BANG INTEREST CHECK ❄

Hello everyone! This is an interest check post for a winter themed Good Omens big bang we are planning to run, with the estimated posting window spanning from mid-December to the end of January, and an estimated word count of minimum 2000 words.

We know, we know, it's June right now, no one wants to think about winter activities. But as the posting period would be in winter, we thought it was the perfect time to run an interest check to see if there are enough people interested.

For the event itself, any kind of work that is centered around winter (winter activities, winter holidays, wintery vibes, etc.) would be welcome, both AU and canon setting. It is a loose theme, so you can get creative with it. Works can be as fluffy, angsty, smutty, or whumpy as you like.

One thing I adore about good omens (and our flag means death, the magnus archives and a few others, but this post is about good omens) is that none of the queer characters ever actually have a label, and coming out or homophobia isn't really a thing. Bit of a rant under the cut (longer than expected)

The lack of labels is wonderful. Crowley and Aziraphale are never stated to be "gay" or "asexual" or any specific identity which you could say is because theyre not human and don't need our labels, but none of the human lgbt characters do either. Ninas current partner has a gender neutral name and us never referred to by any pronouns so we can decide in our minds who they are. I personally see Nina as bisexual and maggie as an ace lesbian, and neither of those things are contradicted by canon! And if you see Nina as a lesbian, or maggie as pansexual, that's okay, too. The only thing that's canon is that they're wlw.

And no coming out or homophobia either! There's no point where any of the characters struggle with their or others gender or sexuality. Crowley's gender presentation is fairly fluid but neither he nor Aziraphale has any issue with it. Maggie doesn't have some tragic backstory about her parents kicking her out for being queer (A common trope in lgbt+ stories), she only is upset that Nina already has a partner. Any characters with they/them pronouns have them instantly respected by every character, even without them saying "hey, my pronouns are they/them" and having an arc of self discovery.

Because that's not what good omens is. It's not heartstopper or love simon. All this to say that Good Omens really is such a breath of fresh air in terms of queerness and i hope the finale keeps this up.
