Goat and Sheep Astragali Bone Oracle sets have been added to the shop! We are adamant about ethically sourcing our materia and strive to procure as much as we can locally, however these bones were acquired from a Mongolian farming family, where the shagai divination system originated, and we are pleased to support their small business.

As we devour the flesh of the animals that nourish us, we're grateful to their spirits, we're grateful for the generosity of the land and the abundance it has provided us, and we're grateful to be alive, as one may never know which breath will be their last. What are you grateful for?

Happy All Souls' Day! A lovely day spent honoring the forgotten dead at the cemetery, and wildcrafting Mourning Cypress (Cupressus funebris). This harvest will be placed to dry on our altar, and utilized in our next batch of Spiritus Incense.

Cronewort Bone Oracle - A one of a kind set of four blackened Deer Astragali fixed in Mugwort Spagyric Shellac & Black Poplar Unguent, with Black Goat Leather Casting Pouch.

The spagyric essence of the Mugwort plant (Artemisia vulgaris) serves as the menstruum for the shellac resin, an entirely natural sealant. Once cured, the bones are polished with an unguent crafted of Beeswax, Olive Oil and Black Poplar buds (Populus trichocarpa).

Commenced under the influence of the Full Taurus Moon and proceeding lunar hours; in dedication to Artemis of the Wilderness, Mistress of Animals.

Ceremonial flames devour our initial offerings of the season. A sacred pyre unveils the wapiti spirits we venerate, as the calls of elder beasts and hooves on damp earth echo through the perfumed smoke cloaking the forest.

The hunt of the Blóðstjarna clan has begun, and tonight we are blessed with the first harvest. A somber evening, the moon graced us with her waxing face while the elk in the hills sang a mournful dirge, as a bloodline procession occured through the field; a ceremonial removal of a majestic buck to whom we are ever grateful, and shall honor his body, soul, and spirit.

While Vex is out hunting this morning, I've spent the early dawn hours out in the garden, sipping coffee while the crows sing, tending to our hens, and harvesting more mullein and cleaning skeletons. Everything we harvest, everything we create and provide, is seasonal and limited, always crafted in small batches, under the appropriate celestial influence. Most of our raw ingredients, both plant and animal, are sourced locally and by the generosity of the land.

Our Samhain Special sold out quicker than we anticipated, and as such I was inspired to dig through our collection of carcasses to procure more vertebrae. Maceration takes time, decay takes time. I utilize a biological washing powder with proteases to aid in the bone cleaning process. I hope to have more available within a few days, and if so the sale will resume and should arrive just in time for Samhain celebrations, however there are only 6 jars remaining of our Spiritus Incense, crafted on the autumn equinox, and so, will remain limited.

The seasons harvests have been fruitful, and as October peaks we spend our shorter days preparing for the imminent freeze. We empty the maceration buckets, flooding the garden with decay to lend nourishment to our plant allies through the winter. Sifting and sorting through remnants of bones and mummified or preserved specimens and animalia to be utilized and revivified as ritual objects, talismans and fetishes.

All animal materials we use are local, humanely and ethically acquired, and in compliance with the law. We scavenge and collect carcasses we find, maintain sustainable hunting practices, and encourage our neighbors to utilize their entire animal harvests, graciously accepting all that they will not use.

Four Deer Astragali naturally stained through putrefaction, while our other sets are macerated to remove any remaining flesh, maintaining their natural bone ivory charm.
