Headcanon: Florida is a tattoo artist. Miami is the most tatted city in the US, so you know Flo definitely wanted to see what the hype was about.

Flo is covered in tattoos, mainly of his native flora and fauna, though he definitely has a couple disney ones too.

When I saw the tags for Alaska x Texas x Maine, my brain was so out of it (I only got 4 hours of sleep and taking a plane ride soon, I hate planes so much 😭😭) I thought Maxaska was Alaska x Mexico... I literally said outloud in front of my roommate "Go off Alaska, get yourself a country". I need a 5 hour nap so badly...

Headcanon: One of Ohio's favorite bands is Black Veil Brides. Lead singer Andy Beirsack is from Cincinnati.

Ohio listens to emo rock when he does cardio, powerpop when he swims, and country when weightlifting

Oregon is a pacifist. His homicide rate is just 3.1%, exactly half of the national rate.

He has 2 times as many veterans that served in the Vietnam war than any other conflict. Seeing how his people's service impacted them soured him against the military, and he is quick to point out nationalist messages in the media.

Him and Washington have been best friends for as long as they've known each other. They aren't dating or consider themselves to be a qpr, but they are still life partners. Oregon doesn't see the need for labels, and Washington is chill with that

As a ship? Tbh I don't ship Hawaii with anyone. I actually don't feel comfortable making headcanons about her since she doesn't even want to be a state.

Alaska I ship with Maine bc of @dailymothanon 's beautiful art.

And obvs I ship New York and California.

Besides that, Alaska and Cali are bear friends, and Alaska and Hawaii are besties. I don't think Hawaii cares about Cali either way

Midwest HCS please? Any midwest is good but Wisconsin and Indiana are my favorite boys. Whatever is on your mind!

Goats are Wisconsin's favorite animal. He ranks #1 in the US for milk goats.

Wisconsin has a close friendship with Germany, as his population has a 36.1% German ancestry and also bc of their shared love of cheese and beer.

He can speak a little German and Spanish, but is only fluent in English

Out of all the states, he's one of the more "just an average guy" kind of person, as he tends to rank more in the middle in birth and causes of death data.

Florida and Cali head-cannon?

Florida divides his time between California and Louisiana. I consider all of the former Spanish states siblings, but Flo and Cali are like, extra siblings. Back in the day, Texas used to be part of the squad, but as he became more bitter, he withdrew and disassociated with the rest of them.

Florida has less control over his internal politics. As an individual, he agrees with Cali more, but he's heavily controlled by his senators and governors. He embraces the chaos as a way to hide this from other states

NY and California are in a qpr/ non-sexual relationship. They've been together since the 70s when Cal started trying to get clean.

Only 4.9% of his population is without healthcare coverage, so he's a big advocate for affordable heathcare.

Whenever he vacations somewhere out of the US, it is always to Italy or Ireland. His population is 11% Italian and 10% Irish, which is double the national average.

He speaks many languages, but other than English, he is most fluent in Yiddish.

He never brings it up in meetings bc it would set Texas off so bad, but he's a proponent of open borders. A 5th of his population is foreign born. If it was up to him, he'd open Ellis Island back up

Headcanon: when Texas is feeling particularly bitchy he'll call California Poppy to mock the close friendship they once had. This used to really upset Cal, but now he just calls him Tejas in response.
