Hermes, the Olympian divinity, messenger of the gods, the "psychopomp" ("soul guide") - a conductor of souls into the afterlife (Hades). Also known as "the divine trickster".
Homer, "Odyssey" (10. 135 ff) :
"I was met by golden-wanded Hermes; he seemed a youth in the lovely spring of life, with the first down upon his lip."
Apuleius, "The Golden Ass" (10. 30 ff) :
"A radiant boy appeared, naked except for a youth's cloak draped over his left shoulder; his blonde hair made him the cynosure of all eyes. Tiny wings of gold were projecting from his locks, in which they had been fastened symmetrically on both sides. The herald's staff and the wand which he carried identified him as Mercurius [Hermes]."

DIONYSOS (Dionysus), son of Zeus and mortal Semele, daughter of Cadmus of Thebes. He was the Olympian god of wine, vegetation, pleasure, festivity, madness and wild frenzy. He was usually accompanied by a group of Satyrs and Mainades and his attributes included the thyrsos (a pine-cone-tipped staff), a drinking cup and a crown of ivy.

Homeric Hymn 7 to Dionysos 1 ff (Greek epic 7th to 4th c. B.C.) :
"He [Dionysos] appeared on a jutting headland by the shore of the fruitless sea, seeming like a stripling in the first flush of manhood: his rich, dark hair was waving about him, and on his strong shoulders he wore a purple robe."
Euripides, Bacchae 230 ff :
"Some stranger [Dionysos] has come . . . fragrant in hair with golden curls, having in his eyes the wine-dark graces of Aphrodite."
Callistratus, Descriptions 6 (Greek rhetorician 3rd to 4th c. A.D.) :
"[From a description of an ancient Greek statue of Kairos (Caerus) :] He resembled Dionysos; for his forehead glistened with graces and his cheeks, reddening to youthful bloom, were radiantly beautiful, conveying to the beholder's eye a delicate blush."
