Eero Saarinen's TWA Flight Center in New York, designed in the early 1960s, is a standout of Mid-Century Modern architecture. The futuristic curves of the building made it an icon of the Jet Age. Photo by Ezra Stoller, circa 1962.

Submissions Open!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(First and second place, Season One)
It's official: submissions are opening for the second round of the Book Cover Tournament. Do you have covers you love? Saw in a bookshop and couldn't get out of your head? Are you using the gorgeous but little-known Lithuanian edition in order to lure people into reading your favourite novel? Use the form below to submit covers to battle it out in the Cover Art Showdown!
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScIhA4uFLaRM5DP7uzo1r67tBowEQG9VXTPRt22_mD3Bv1amA/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=114471559063208631210
There's no limit on submissions per person. The first season had a bracket of 676 covers, and I'm looking to meet or exceed that mark. Submissions will remain open until early September.
Not accepted:
Major nudity (other NSFW content may be filtered at pollrunner's discretion).
Covers which ran in Season One.
Comic book, graphic novel, webcomic or manga covers (ebooks and light novels are fine).
Fanmade covers (unless they have later been published).
Please do not submit multiple covers in the same series by the same artist — your favourite one or two will do. Multiple editions of the same book are not only accepted, but encouraged.
Tagging for reach: @tournament-announcer, @specificpollsaboutbooks, @haveyoureadthisbook-poll, @art-that-fucks-you-up-tournament, @who-do-i-know-this-man

Round 4 - Set 24
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Left: Pond Water Crowfoot 1895 by Eero Järnefelt
Description: painting showing water as it ripples softly, wetting the stones of the shore. Crowfoot, a small, white flower, blooms on the surface. Though the water partly reflects the blue sky, the red bottom of the pond can be seen through it, with its rocks and plants.
Propaganda: I have a lot of good memories of swimming in forest lakes, and this painting evokes such a strong sensory memory in me. I can feel the coolness of the water, smell its sweet scent, hear the gentle waves lapping at the shore. The painting might not look like much, mostly brown water with one tiny plant, but I think it perfectly represents the peace and beauty that can be found everywhere if you just pause to look.
Pond Water Crowfoot 1895 by Eero Järnefelt. Oil on canvas. The art is 39 × 28 cm. The art is in the Finnish National Gallery (link here). The art was photographed by Yehia Eweis.
