I am sad to hear the passing of one of my favorite inspirations when it comes to illustration in children's literature. I had the opportunity to meet Jerry Pinkney at a library conference so many years ago. He was so pleasant and he signed a copy of ‘The Lion & The Mouse’. I found this copy a couple of weeks ago in my studio and was still in awe over this book. 2020 may not have been the best year, but the best thing I can say that came out of this year is that I had the opportunity to see a book I worked on get published and another book in the process of getting published.
