Burn Brighter

Summary: (it's on fanfic.net and there is no summary so my summary is the summary this time).

This is an Arthur/Eames Inception fanfiction. It's beautifully written, and even though initially, I didn't ship them, I really loved the movie in general and this fic made it so much better. It captures the universe of Inception really well, and is mostly told from Arthur's point of view, so there are many tangents on his life. It is extremely slow build, and, as the author adds in the notes, basically a "love song to the whole Inception 'verse".

The Things That Want to Let Go

Summary: 'Arthur is expected to be a lot of things, but he gives himself one weekend to forget all those things he’s supposed to be.'

When I first started reading it, I thought it was going to be all smut, and I wasn't really in the mood but I was bored so I figured I'd go ahead and read it anyways. I was happily proved incorrect, as it is actually a really cute, beautiful little piece. The beginning is kind of bittersweet, and Merlin is just perfect. Would definitely recommend!

The Cure and The Poison

Summary: 'Dean doesn’t know what to do after leaving the Army but Castiel has an offer of another way to serve his country – join an agency determined to track down a massive threat to National Security. A threat his brother is inextricably entwined with.'

Basically, a secret agent AU which I found during my binge on Fed-type job fics. There's a lot of cute stuff between Dean and Cas, but there's also a lot of plot and action, and Cas is a bamf agent and Dean is a soldier and it all adds up to a very interesting, if brief, story. Everyone was very in character and the writing was pretty solid as well.

the precision of the fall

Summary: 'They used to be called The Family Winchester. People came from miles around to see their act, knowing their names and faces before the circus even rolled into town. Life was shiny with salt and sawdust, sequins and smiles. Now, all that was left were a few crumpled posters, an empty bunk next to Dean's, and the leather-gripped knives hidden in the trick pockets of his vest.'

For some reason, I crave circus/carnival AUs, I find them incredibly nostalgic, and this one is written very well and I enjoyed it very much. The little nods to canon were great, and Castiel and Dean were written very in-character. It's really a beautiful AU, especially as the reader is shown bits of the brothers' pasts.

Summary: 'Merlin listens to the radio, Arthur stalks Merlin, Morgana lives to create chaos in Arthur's life, and then everyone goes to McDonalds! Also love happens.'

Merthur AU in which Arthur co-hosts a radio program with Leon, which Merlin happens to listen to. Romance ensues, I won’t spoil anymore even though you’ll probably figure it out.

Dean hates Christmas, which is why he's hiding away in a café late at night on Christmas Eve. He never expected to find Castiel there.

AU where Dean and Cas get snowed in and stuck in a bar on Christmas Eve, do a lot of talking and instantly fall in love. It’s really well written, just enjoyable to read, kinda a one-shot, and whoops there’s smut too.

One of my absolute favorite college AUs, wish I could read it a million times over, I highly recommend it!

The Inexhaustible Silence of Houses

Summary: 'Almost two years after the world doesn't end, Castiel falls from grace—and loses his voice in the process. Dean and Castiel fall in love with the strange little house on the end of Swallowtail Drive, and for a little while life is as it should be—sweet, affectionate, and beginning afresh.

But more and more Castiel sees and hears things in the house that beg the question of whether or not a place itself can be alive. The walls and rooms seem to shift and grow and breathe, and one night, Dean comes home from a hunt changed in a way that Castiel cannot explain. In the months that follow, their domestic bliss takes turns for the dark and sour, and the confusion of their circumstances will ultimately test everything Castiel knows about the man he loves, and everything he believes to be true.'

This was probably the most haunting fic I have ever read, written beautifully and potently, read with care. Warning: Angst! I won’t say much, but I’ll say this:  I’m warning you now.

Absolute favorite HS AU, I specifically love how they portrayed Castiel, giving him a little more complicated of a life which really parallels the show well.

The Best Years of Our Lives, My Ass

Summary: 'AU after Season 8, episode 6, "Southern Comfort." Dean goes to sleep in a motel room in Texarkana, and he wakes up 17 years old, in his childhood bedroom in Lawrence, Kansas, 1996. He has no idea how he got there, why his parents are still alive, why his brother is an adorable freshman with no memory of his adult life, and why the only ally he has in this place is the angel he left behind in Purgatory – somehow also 17 years old. They have to get out, that's the important thing. Only, falling in love with his angel wasn't a part of the plan....'

Definitely one of my favorites because it has canon elements (it comes from canon!verse), and the way both of them act is extremely adorable (except when there's high-school angst) but it's very good and I highly recommend it!

End!verse AU, even though it's a WIP, it has quite enough substance to keep you satisfied for a while (it's verrrry long). It's also one of my absolute favorite End!verse fics, it's extremely angsty and messed up and I thought they captured the dark atmosphere of 2014!verse very well.
