Asa's not a big horror movie person, but he's trying to get out more, and he'd heard about it so much at the library... so here he is. "Oh, no not yet. Please, grab a spot. Honestly, the more people close-by the less terrified I'll feel, I think." He admits.

Although Eleanor wasn't a big fan of horror movies, she found herself at Technicolor Theater's Scream Day celebration. She had been invited by one of her friends to watch The Silence of the Lambs, a classic, that was being shown on the outdoor screen. After grabbing some popcorn, Eleanor roamed the lawn for a good place to lay out her blanket and sit. She came across someone sitting alone and approached them. "Hey," she smiled softly. "Is someone sitting over here by you?"

A tattoo chosen by the winner... Asa sits at the bar with his cocktail and can't help a small laugh. The soft shirt he's wearing is short-sleeved for the nicer weather, and definitely shows off two arms covered in ink. His neck, chest - what's another tattoo chosen by a handsome stranger? "Sounds like fun." He says honestly with a small nod. Shy, but... willing. He's not one to normally down hard liqueur, but how can he refuse? "Depends on the shots, though. What're you drinking, love?"

Asa grew up in a small family home in a town on the outskirts of Dublin. Both parents were devoutly Catholic and the whole family walked to church multiple times a week. He worked summers helping clean up the little church-house in the valley and his father often pawned him off to ‘learn a hard day’s work’ at various places in town. Despite his father having plenty of money and working at a bank in the city, Asa was often treated like he had to provide for his family as well. He wanted to spend time with his siblings but it often fell on him to get a job first, to get his license, to get into college. There was immense pressure from his family at all times to be the model son.

He had always been introverted but starting in high school, he started to rebel, getting angry at his parents and lashing out at them. His father had just started a very high-profile job in the government and his 13 year old son was the least of his issues. Eventually, Asa was sent away to a home for ‘troubled teens’ and was essentially beaten into submission by orderlies and people who did not care about his wellbeing or his mental stability. He was treated like a problem, like an inmate in a prison at the age of 14 and was kept there for years due to his father’s negligence and lies. Saying after Asa came back for a short time once that he was still ‘acting up’. That they had failed and he would expose them if they didn’t forge documents to send Asa off to a mental institution.

Through it all, Asa was manipulated into thinking he was the problem. That he had done so much wrong that he was being punished, and would continue to be for the rest of his life- tormented by the Devil. Because of his father’s lies, he was in and out of a few psychiatric facilities, given experimental (and illegal) medical treatments, and treated as insane. His father was a constant terrifying presence in his life, always finding a new place to send him off to in Ireland, Wales, and London.

Asa changed the course of his fate when one day his father pushed him too far- after another heated argument and further tries at manipulating him to go back to an in-patient facility, Asa murdered his father. He was lucky- his dad never spoke about his son to others due to his immense disappointment, so Asa fleeing to the U.S. was done as covertly as possible.

After moving to the US, he created a large court case to take down the corrupt mental hospital he'd been in back in London - St. Irene's. With meticulous organization and gathering evidence, Asa was able to get the place shut down and several of the doctors sent away to prison - and he in turn won a huge settlement. He did art- something he’d loved to do throughout his time in and out of facilities, and in the past few years he's created some children's books that have done well on the market, the second one even hitting the NYT Bestsellers list. He’s a bit withdrawn and quiet, awkward with making friends.

He remembers his name - of course he does. Impossible not to, when they'd been in that damn elevator for close to an hour. Not much to talk to while you repeatedly hit the emergency button and wait for any fireman or repairman to show up. "Far more space out here." Literally and figuratively. He listens in curiosity. A Leo. That makes sense. "Loyal, confident. Natural born leader. A bit stubborn, though." Asa nudges the other's arm cheekily. "I don't know as much about the rising signs. I think that's... how you appear to people? And cancer is nurturing and compassionate... so that's very sweet actually!" He ducks his head. "I'm a scorpio. Which is apparently a bit scary and intimidating."

The voice next to him comes as a surprise, and a welcome one at that. Being stuck in an elevator with someone sort of bonds you, as mildly traumatic as the situation was. “i’ll take polluted night skies over locked elevators any day, believe” august replied in perfect agreement, the memory of being stuck flashing back before his eyes. a nightmare. “my younger sister loves astrology, has done my chart? she tried to explain it to me but it wasn’t sticking, but I enjoy the mysticism of it all?” he knows this one, it’s easy as pie “I’m a leo, and apparently a cancer rising, if that means something”

Asa doesn't know either. He's there because it's better than being cooped up in the flat - and after that massive storm and all the snow, he's just happy to be out. A jacket keeps him as warm as he can be, pink cheeks and a hot coffee keeping tattooed hands as warm as possible. But more importantly, he recognizes the other. Darksome eyes widen just a bit - such a small world. "I'm glad we both survived our elevator encounter and came out to look at the stars." The Irishman jokes sheepishly. "I don't... know exactly what all this is? But I think astrology is very interesting, and I wanted a hot drink and I'm a sucker for the night sky." He grins. "What's your sign, then?"

fifteen years of new york city night life, most included whiskeys at dive bars which turned into whiskey at fancy bars and now look more like taco trucks at midnight after a long day of work. socializing isn’t always in the cards, long hours and exhaustion can shake up any lifestyle, but there’s something to be said about a large gathering of people just to experience the beauty the world still has to offer. “ya know, this has never been my kind of thing, even with the clearer skies back home, but i’ve got to say, there’s a certain appeal to all of this astrological shit, isn’t there?” words spilled in a southern drawl, almost gone but still hinting there, august stops to take a drink of the coffee they had brought with them, cinnamon, oat-milk, too many sugars, “I gotta be honest though, I have no idea if we’re supposed to be looking for something in particular or if we’re just out here to look at the sky? either way, i’m enjoying it.”

Something about Onyx relaxes Asa - perhaps it’s his mutual love of oddities, good books, a warm spot in the sun to read. A gaggle of cats. Asa finds that the cat sitter sometimes sounds like someone stepping out of a time machine, but he can’t say he minds it. It makes the compliments and kindness feel even more genuine and unique. 

Asa flushes. “Pictures… I took a few, but. I don’t know, I’m no good at selfies.” But he carries back their tea and sets the mugs down. Only then does he shift to sit beside Onyx and take his phone out. He seems to contemplate before turning the screen. The green velvet fits him impeccably- and it’s a photo in the hotel room, probably beforehand. When Asa had felt confident, a slight tilt to his hip, a nice cummerbund with dark fitted trousers, dark raven hair brushed back. A hand settled into a pocket, camera angled at a ritzy hotel bathroom mirror.

“You’re welcome to any books you’d like to read, love. You know that.” He adds quickly, looking embarrassed about the photo and chuckling. “I should’ve just shown you the suit. I have it, in the suitcase.” 

Onyx, sharing a similarity with Asa in being reserved and contemplative, doesn't feel compelled to fill every conversational gap. He values moments of silence, finding solace in quiet companionship. While not always initiating dialogue, he actively engages in meaningful and thoughtful conversation. Previously engrossed in "Wednesday: The Bible of Dark Culture: Vol. 1 - A Dreadful Debut," his attention is reserved for the cats as one noses at the socks covering his ankles. He leans in his chair, giving his hand to the kitten for them to sniff.

Onyx observes Asa cradling Starla with a subtle smile, savoring the authentic bond between the illustrator and his feline companions. "I'm delighted to see you back, and it warms my heart to witness the cats' evident affection for you," Onyx remarks, infusing his words with a conversational warmth. As Asa recounts his experience at the event, Onyx listens attentively, nodding in acknowledgment. "Opting for green velvet was a good choice," he comments, his chartreuse eyes radiating approval. He's perhaps biased, green happens to be his favorite color. "Do you happen to have any pictures? I'd be keen to have a glimpse."

In response to Asa's open invitation to linger, Onyx expresses gratitude, "I appreciate and accept the generosity of your offer. your home always exudes a welcoming ambiance." The reference to the inclement weather outside prompts Onyx to cast a contemplative gaze toward the window. "Your book collection is quite impressive. Once I conclude the one borrowed from the library, I would be honored to peruse your assortment." He adds, a subtle smile gracing his lips.

23. would your muse be good at recognizing their partner's needs right away, or would it take some time?

It would probably take a little bit of time - but Asa also isn't great with understanding every nuance of human emotion and social cues. He would probably figure it out though. And probably wouldn't be with someone who he didn't think could meet his needs (and him for his potential, hypothetical boyfriend)

"Wh- what about him? Did he say somethin' about me?" Asa's face is beet red, setting his cocktail down with a soft laugh. "No, he's... I mean, y'must have seen him. Absolutely gorgeous, isn't he? And... we've definitely um. He's been to my flat, we've. Yeah." Asa shakes his head, as if trying to clear it so he can speak. "I dunno. His energy's infectious. Gets me laughing and... well. Other things. and. Maybe I should text him."

27. is your muse more confident or shy when it comes to approaching someone they like?

Asa's pretty shy in general, but he has been trying to be better about showing his interest. He feels things intensely and sometimes he's worried that he'll be 'too much', or maybe he's gotten ahead of himself. But he's working on it!

14. what traits does your muse want to avoid when it comes to choosing a romantic partner?

He's not 100% sure. He's still learning what to watch out for. But Asa definitely needs validation - someone who can communicate and reassure him. So someone who's very closed off, can't convey their own needs, and can't give that validation and praise probably wouldn't work for him.

Asa is gay!

Nope! Asa can be sexually adventurous but it takes a lot to get him to that place, due to the many years his sexuality was repressed and he wasn't really able to explore or figure out the things he likes. He's done some occasional kinky stuff but not this, yet.

9. is your muse monogamous or polyamorous? would they be interested in a polyamorous relationship?

In a relationship, Asa has to be monogamous. His emotions run too high, he's a little insecure, and he gets too attached to someone to want to share them. He's fine with having a non-exclusive dating situation while he's still getting to know someone, but he's not cut out for polyamory sadly.

11. how comfortable is your muse with their appearance and their body?

Asa's working on it. He's adorned his body with countless tattoos to try and help himself feel better about it. But he sometimes feels like he's aging too quickly, feels weird about certain parts of him. He's got some grays coming in, his crow's feet, wrinkles.

24. is your muse proactive in communication with their partner(s), or is this something they need to work on?

He is, sometimes to a fault. If Asa's fond of someone, he sometimes ends up texting them too much, wanting to be around them more and more often. He will communicate his feelings but sometimes his wording is odd so it can seem intense. He's still figuring out how to navigate his own intense passionate emotions and regular society.

He's still getting used to this environment, but it's better to immerse himself in queer culture... right? He has a fruity cocktail and he's wearing nice but move-able clothing and he's trying to talk to people. And dance. But past a certain point, he just feels like an inkblot on a kaleidoscope. Doesn't know the music, doesn't know the lingo. Eventually he's mixing his drink and hears something familiar. Asa turns to the person beside him, a nervous smile. "I actually know this song... first one of the bloody evening, isn't that terrible?" He asks, as I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston roars from the speakers.

5. what is your muse's ideal first date?

Asa is normally just happy to be asked. He's a bit of a shy and awkward person at times, so being taken out on a date on its own is very exciting to him. But he does love experiences - museums, art galleries, botanical gardens. A beer garden or even just spending time at someone's house with dinner and wine would be nice, too. He just likes spending time with people and getting to know them. And he's very affectionate and touch-starved so maybe he'd wanna hold hands or something I dunno....
