It's hard because bio rps for Harry Potter don't seem to do that well? You could always consider making it semi-appless perhaps?

Yeah, we tried to make it more skeleton & just give people a bit to go off of so we wouldn’t have a ton of the same type of characters. We could potentially make it semi-appless but I’m not entirely sure how to go about that. Our application was already fairly short as we wanted people to be more creative with it as opposed to writing a biography & a para sample. Thank you so much for the insight! We will definitely take this into consideration for where to go with Ascendere!

Is this rp still happening?

Right now, Bee & I are still debating what is going to happen with this roleplay. We didn’t get the amount of interest/traction that we had anticipated seeing how many people were excited about this roleplay when we were still releasing teasers on the teaser blog. We though we would have gotten this up & running by now, but the interest hasn’t been here. We really, really don’t want this roleplay to die, but we can’t open with only one application. We’re still deciding if we want to continue this, but we’d love some opinions if any of you have any about what to do now. We love this roleplay and would absolutely love to continue it if a good amount of interest is still there.

Could you explain the genealogy of the Potter-Weasley clan a bit? I'm confused as to who is related to whom and how that's all worked out.

Okay so the Weasley family is pretty big, so this is how it’s all laid out. For each set of parents, the children are obviously siblings, and then all of the children are first cousins. 

Bill & Fleur - Victoire, Dominique, Louis

Percy & Audrey - Lucy & Molly

George & Angelina - Fred & Roxanne (second batch)

Ron & Hermione - Hugo & Rose

Ginny & Harry - James, Lily, Albus

Additionally, Joely Delacour is first cousins to Victoire, Dominique, & Louis through their mothers. This image should help give a nice visual representation of this generation & how they’re all related. They do have Teddy under Victoire, however, which is a bit weird as it makes it look like they are her son when in reality the two ex’s.

Are you accepting OCs?

Right now, no. I don’t think we will either especially as we leave so much room up for interpretation for the characters. We will, however, be planning a few OC-type characters (non-canon) that will come into play during the next batch.

We do still have a couple more skeletons to put out. Two of them are Lorcan Scamander & Rose Granger-Weasley. the last skeleton is taken which is Ana Dragomir. I’m currently on vacation, but I will talk to Bee to see what we can do about getting those out as soon as possible!

What are you looking for in terms of extras in your applications? And how writing heavy do you think actual roleplaying will be? (Like, general one paragraph gif paras, or some five paragraph replies, or general quick gif chatting...?)

Honestly, we don’t have anything specific in mind in terms of extras. You can literally do anything you want for it; it’s mainly a way for you to expand more on the character you’re applying for so we can better see your vision. this could be a rant about how much you love them or headcanons about them or even graphics. The sky is the limit. 

As far as writing heavy, I’d say it will probably be a medium though much of this will depend on our roleplayers. We both love writing paras, but always value quality over quantity. That said, we would prefer our players to stay away from quick one-liners as those make it difficult to progress the plot. I personally prefer paragraph gif chats, though I do like some writing heavy longer paras as well.

BACKGROUND

Your mother once voiced her surprise that flowers didn’t bloom where you walked. You were a thing of beauty and grace from the time you were born, oozing charm and kindness. People were surprised how you never faked how you felt. They were surprised you weren’t spoiled, they were surprised that you weren’t bitter below the surface. You were always just pure, genuine Rosa: sweet as fairy floss, and bright as the sky. Worries never got to you, not like your sibling. You could figure out the solution to a problem with a long night’s thought combined with effort and desire. You knew the value of hard work. You knew that you might not get everything handed to you in life. Days and months and years passed, and still you floated on air. You weren’t ruined by the world. You weren’t fazed by how terrible some could be.

Everyone told you that James Potter was the most arrogant person to walk the halls of Hogwarts since, well, James Potter. You didn’t really talk to them until a professor assigned the two of you to work on a project. They didn’t seem as terrible as people made them out to be. Soon enough, you found yourself talking with them until the early hours of the night ( an invisibility cloak came in handy ), and every spare moment you had was spent laughing and just enjoying yourself. You’re glad you came to know them.

Molly Weasley » friend/interest.

They bring you flowers, and you swoon. Molly was introduced to you by James, and your heart hasn’t found a steady rhythm since. You talk about ice creams and siblings, and life and love -- Merlin, every minute you spend with them goes by too quickly, and time passes too slowly when you’re without. You genuinely like them, and your feelings are strong. You know you should tell them; it’s just a matter of when and how.

Lysander Scamander » annoyance.

They have gotten under your skin since they sat next to you after being sorted into Ravenclaw, but you knew them before that. You know it’s mean, but you just can’t help the frown that crosses your face when you see them. Maybe it’s the way they’ve always had things figured out -- like you, but better. Maybe it’s the way their name has prominence in a way yours can’t mirror. Maybe it’s the fact they don’t have anything better to talk about than magical creatures. You understand the allure, you understand what family they are from -- but still you get frustrated at their singular mind. You would even talk to them about quidditch if they wanted to -- though, you do have James for that.

would you rather see an app for cristian or rohan because i have so much muse for both. i mean on one hand i usually play characters like cristian and i love doing so a lot, but on the other rohan has a lot of potential for development and it'd be interesting.

In all honestly, I would love to see an app for either -- I know that probably doesn’t help you decide. Cristian is honestly a character I want to see played, but you are right -- Rohan at the moment does have a touch more potential for development. 

If you’re having trouble deciding, my tip to you is maybe start musing  and writing for both! Start a mock blog, or even write in-character a sample or drabble. See if you have more inspiration for one over the other. If you need any help, prompt-wise or if you have any questions, please ask!

Louis Weasley is a sixteen year old ⅛ veela wizard who attends Hogwarts. They were sorted into Hufflepuff.

BACKGROUND

It is a strange thing, to be a fighter and a dreamer. To have this sense of wonder in the world and want to keep it that way. You always had that childlike fascination with the magic of the world you grew up in, even as you heard tales of when the world was a dangerous place. You grew up in a loving household, some might even go as far as to call it perfect. You are more thankful for that than you can ever admit. You know that not everyone is as lucky as you have been. You went to Hogwarts behind your sisters, fully ready to be a part of the world they told you stories from. It did not disappoint. You found yourself there, a more grown-up version of the naive child you had once been. But still, you saw the good in the world. You have always seen things as they are, sometimes terrible and awful. But you see them as they could be with the right amount of fight. You are determined to make the world a better place than it was when you entered it. Your parents grew up in a time of war as did their parents before them. You’ll be damned before you see the children of your generation or any future generations have that same fate.

Victoire & Dominique Weasley » older sisters.

Having Victoire & Dominique as your elder sisters was a blessing and a curse. You were destined to follow after two bright witches with their flames burning bright. It was lucky you were able to keep up in the areas that mattered and that you didn’t care in the areas you fell behind. You were close to them when you were younger, especially with Dominique. But you each found your own lives. Or rather, you and Victoire did leaving Dominique wondering what happened. Vic barely speaks to the family now, and you're far too busy with you own friends to spend time with your other sister. And you can’t deny the regret this fills you with, though you know that one day you will be closer than ever. 

The Potter-Weasley Clan » extended family.

You admit, you may have largely ignored most of your cousins for shenanigans with Hugo, but that doesn’t mean you love them any less. Though you’d love to think you’re close with James, you know that they’re more concerned with quidditch and their hair. But nevertheless, you have always looked up to them. Lucy sort of scares you, but in a good way. The kind of way that lets you know that the witch would kill anyone who hurt your family. Either way, you know you’re lucky to have a family like yours even if they are a lot to live up to.

Hugo Granger-Weasley » bros.

Something clicked with you and Hugo from childhood. Every time the two of you would get together, you’d find some way to cause chaos. Neither of you were particularly mischievous on your own, but together, there was always something going on. Some might have said you were like your uncles, but you knew the two of you would never rival Fred and George. To say Hugo is your best friend is a complete understatement. If you didn’t know better, you’d say they were your other half. The two of you bring out the absolute best (and in other’s opinions, the worst) in each other. But that has never meant a thing to you because you know that Hugo will always have your back just like you’ll always have theirs. 

Cristian Fortescue » partners in crime.

You met Cristian through Teddy, not expecting to gain another friend. They were shy, much more reserved than anyone you really hung out with. But you weren’t going to settle for letting them sit int he shadows while everyone else had fun around them. Once you got the older wizard to start coming out of their shell, you began inviting them places with you and Hugo, creating a trio that balanced each other out well.

We would like to apologize for the lack of skeletons the past few days. Both of us have had really busy schedules. As of right now, we still have four open skeletons left to release (Rose, Louis, Rosa, & Lorcan). We will be having two skeletons come out today and hopefully the final three tomorrow. But in the meantime, we’d love to get some questions and apps to keep the main active!

BACKGROUND

You were like your mother in the way that you lost yourself in books. With a blanket wrapped around your shoulders, you would curl up in armchair,  and not move until the next day’s sun began to shine through your window. Unlike her, though, it was never knowledge you sought. It was escape. You loved the idea of being in a world that wasn’t yours. It wasn’t that you were unhappy, or discontent with the life you were given, you had just always been the sort to seek more than you were provided with. Your eyes searched for worlds on stars when you looked up towards the sky, and your heart jumped at the possibility of adventure any time something new and exciting occurred. Your time at Hogwarts has been spent wandering the halls and the staircases ( an illusive map still isn’t in your possession, much to your chagrin ) and all too often you find yourself lying on the quidditch pitch, watching your classmates zoom above your head. With a dreamy gaze and a tendency to need to be called back down to reality, it is no surprise that people whisper your name when your back is turned. They say your head is in the sky, that you have a brain and you just don’t use it. You have never understood why they think their words will get under your skin.

Rose has never been a stranger to you despite how different the two of you are. They come to you when they need a break from their stressors, when they just want the sight of a familiar face, and you go to them when you need help looking at something with a more serious head. They’re your polar opposite, but that has never stopped you from getting along. They might not understand your desire to keep your head in the clouds, and you’re not sure why they believe it’s up to them to change the world.

It’s a miracle she didn’t contact your grandpa Weasley, in all honesty – the echoes of the last howler from grandma Molly still reverberate in your ears. It was all in good fun, though – everything you did with Louis was. You just wanted to see what you could do, what you were capable of – if anyone challenged you, it was Louis.

Lysander Scamander » former housemates.

When they introduced you to their grandfather, the Newt Scamander, you nearly combusted right there. It was an amazing experience, and you could never thank Lysander enough – if anything, it solidified your friendship even more. Their dreamlike focus on plants and animals was near similar to how you lived your life every day. Cool, calm, and collected. You’d admire their passion, their drive. You almost wish you had a singular focus like them.

what are some ideas for jobs?

There really are endless ideas! For certain characters, you could have them be a professional Quidditch player. Some could work at the Daily Prophet, like Joely does. There are countless options for jobs at the Ministry -- auror, obliviator, and the list goes on! I don’t think we would be opposed to having someone be a teaching assistant at Hogwarts, either.

Aleksandar Krum is a twenty-two year old half-blood wizard who attended Durmstrang. Currently, they are {occupation up to player}.

BACKGROUND

Cameras flashed around you from the moment you were born, stories were written before you could even say a word. People just clamored to know the firstborn of the famous Viktor Krum — Bulgaria’s quidditch darling, and Triwizard Tournament participant — what would you achieve in your lifetime? The question was asked at every interview and at every dinner that you attended with your parents. The smile that came to your face was well-practiced, and your voice was smooth when you said that you were still figuring things out. It was obvious that you had the same quidditch prowess as your father, and many teams had come to scout you, but you never felt quite right in the sky. Still, you could never turn your back on it. You resembled your father in all ways — in appearance, in mannerisms, but never in wants and desires. But no matter how much time passed, you could never break free of the model the world had molded you into. The strong stance, chin raised and shoulders back. Words lingered on your tongue, there was so much to say, but still you stayed stoic. Some called you cold, some called you a duplicate. You called yourself trapped.

You know both of the Dragomirs because of school, and you never had a problem with either. They were nice to you — that’s what mattered. While in school, you would say you got along with Ana better. They didn’t walk around you on eggshells, and you appreciated that. You liked their liveliness. Now that you are out of school, you’ve been spending more time with Anton. It is no slight against Ana, but you just wind up with Anton more often. They’re different than their sibling, but you can appreciate their ability to listen. They’re easy to talk to.

For what it was worth, as much as you would like to talk about something that isn’t quidditch for once in your life, James’ passion and enthusiasm for the sport is intoxicating. When they talk about flying or getting the quaffle through one of the hoops, you find yourself looking at the sport through a new lens. You don’t have the heart to tell them you’re disillusioned with the sport. If anything could break their heart, it might just be that.

Joely Delacour » flatmate.

You had known her for years when out of the blue she asked you to share a flat with her. You had no reason to say no — you knew no one else in London at the time – so the next thing you knew you were sharing a flat with Joely Delacour. You remember the little girl she used to be, wild and eccentric, and you are glad she has grown up a bit. Still, she’s easy to live with, and makes sure you get out of the house instead of just sulking.

Teddy Lupin » friendly.

You wouldn’t have expected the auror to be so friendly — you were expecting someone stiff, and serious — but then the first thing Teddy did when you met them was down a drink and then change his hair to a bright maroon as a part of a dare. He is the epitome of ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’. You appreciate how he always has a joke ready to tell, and you appreciate how in the blink of an eye he can go from laughing to giving sage advice.

Cristian Fortescue is a seventeen year old half-blood wizard who attends Hogwarts. They were sorted into Hufflepuff.

BACKGROUND

Behind the freezers of the ice cream was an easy place to live. There was something to separate you from the world, and a few steps in any direction was someone you trusted wholeheartedly. You grew up with your tongue sugar-coated, and your fingers sticky. If only it could have stayed like that forever. Hogwarts came as a shock. Rosa had spoken of it in awe, their voice reverent, yet you saw it and your heart stopped. It was imposing -- the people, the castle, just simply everything. Rosa kept an eye out for you, but time found you retreating to the common room whenever you did not have class. It was an easy place to hide. People tried to break your shell, housemates and strangers alike, but the number dwindled as time went on. It was Teddy Lupin who stuck with you until the very end. They helped you make the quidditch team, and then suddenly you had a new safe place. Being in the sky with a very singular goal was relaxing. All that mattered was you and the snitch. You wished you could stay up there forever, but the future was coming closer with every breath. The idea of playing professional quidditch is appealing, but you are unsure if you could deal with the attention, the cameras and the reporters and the countless stories. You still have a year to figure things out. You hope that is enough time.

It was not you who gave you both the title of rivals. You think it was the quidditch commentator -- the Jordan one -- but you’re not quite sure. You didn’t mean to cause a stir, but when you caught the snitch before them in your first game against them your fourth years, tensions increased. You’ve only ever been polite to them despite their handshake that grips just a touch too tightly. You don’t take the insults they say during the game to heart. Maybe after graduation you can end the feud.

Louis Weasley » partners in crime.

Teddy hung out with them a handful of times when he was in school and he always invited you along, but you always felt like a third wheel, and after some time you turned the offer down. But it took one midnight trip to the kitchens with the Weasley, and suddenly you regretted not becoming their friend sooner. They’re coaxing you even further out of your shell, and you’ve made a friend in their cousin, Hugo, too.

Lorcan Scamander » pseudo brother.

The Scamanders had been friends of Teddy, and Teddy liked to say any friend of his was a friend of yours. You never believed him, but Lorcan was easy to talk to. They could keep a conversation going even when you weren’t up for talking. Where Rosa was all smiles all the time, Lorcan teased you goodheartedly, their jokes wry and dry. You appreciated their jabs, and they never let you win a race on your brooms just because you were younger.

BACKGROUND

One half of a whole, you thought you would live your life with your twin by your side always. The two of you were heads and tails, and for the longest time that did not matter. They had your back, and you theirs. Wasn’t that what counted? From the beginning, you were a curious child, less sullen than Lorcan. A question could fall from your lips at any moment, and when you went to bed, your dreams were filled with the wonders that had still been in your mind when you had shut your eyes. There was never any doubt of what you wanted to do with your life. The name Scamander held a certain reputation, and you were going to be the next in the line of Magizoologists your family produced. School was a breeze – herbology was your focus, and you made fast friends with Hagrid – but you couldn’t wait to leave. You had never been the sort to like being cooped up inside, and when you graduated it was no uncommon thing for you to be found sleeping underneath the stars. While you have known who you are and what you want for years, you watched Lorcan struggle. It became tense between the two of you, and slowly but surely you have stopped talking. You miss them, but you have your job. You have your career – the one that you love, and have worked so hard for. You won’t let their childishness ruin it for you.

How long has it been since you have talked to them? Weeks? Months? The idea of that is unfathomable, but no one can doubt that you’re just as stubborn as Lorcan. You casually bring them up in conversation, you ask their friends how they are doing. You do miss them, but you have your pride.

Rosa Fortescue » acquaintance.

You met them at the ice cream parlour. They were behind the counter, helping out their sibling. Then you saw them on the street in front of Helga’s Herb Shoppe, and you talked to them to be polite. It was only after seeing them in a multitude of places a handful of times that you found out they were James’ best friend. You’re not really sure how to talk to them, and somehow every time the topic of conversation ends up on demiguises or nifflers. They never tell you to stop, but they never get too involved.

Anastasiya Dragomir » intrigued by.

Their reputation proceeds them, and you can't help but be fascinated by the socialite. They are everything you're not -- glitz and glam to your mucked-up wellies and grass-stained pants -- and the idea of ever being as wild as them is unfathomable. You couldn’t be compared to them in any way, but you find yourself wanting to know them, or at least wanting to find out what it’d be like to live in their shoes.

James Potter » longtime friend.

For what is was worth, James always would listen to your ramblings about unicorns and occamies with a seriousness unmatched by anyone except for maybe your father or grandfather. You’ve wondered if they only listened because they knew you would play quidditch with them later, but in the end it didn’t matter. You were friends. They were easy to talk to, they were easy to be around. Lately, you’ve noticed they have a similar temper to Lorcan. They make you miss your twin even more.
