I need to say something and I need y'all to be calm
if it isn't actively bad or harmful, no representation should be called "too simple" or "too surface level"
I have a whole argument for this about the barbie movie but today I wanna talk about a show called "the babysitters club" on Netflix
(obligatory disclaimer that I watched only two episodes of this show so if it's super problematic I'm sorry) (yes. I know it's based on a book, this is about the show)
this is a silly 8+ show that my 9 year old sister is watching and it manages to tackle so many complex topics in such an easy way. basic premise is these 13 year old girls have a babysitting agency.
in one episode, a girl babysits this transfem kid. the approach is super simple, with the kid saying stuff like "oh no, those are my old boy clothes, these are my girl clothes". they have to go to the doctor and everyone is calling the kid by her dead name and using he/him and this 13 year old snaps at like a group of doctors and they all listen to her. it's pure fantasy and any person versed in trans theory would point out a bunch of mistakes.
but after watching this episode, my little sister started switching to my name instead of my dead name and intercalating he/him pronouns when talking about me.
one of the 13 years old is a diabetic and sometimes her whole personality is taken over by that. but she has this episode where she pushes herself to her limit and passes out and talks about being in a coma for a while because of not recognizing the limits of her disability.
and this allowed my 9 year old sister to understand me better when I say "I really want to play with you but right now my body physically can't do that" (I'm disabled). she has even asked me why I'm pushing myself, why I'm not using my crutches when I complain about pain.
my mom is 50 years old and watching this show with my sister. she said the episode about the diabetic girl helped her understand me and my disability better. she grew up disabled as well, but she was taught to shut up and power through.
yes, silly simple representation can annoy you if you've read thousands of pages about queer liberation or disability radical thought, but sometimes things are not for you.

This is EXACTLY the hill I want to die on.

I know it’s not hard to point out reactionaries hypocrisy when it comes to like safe spaces or hug boxes or whatever but genuinely how much of an echo chamber do you have to exist in for you to think this is a reasonable thing to say

Punk History Resources: Vol 2
This is a compilation of resources found and recommended by various alternative bloggers, each of whom are credited for their contributions. This started because I was getting SO MANY asks about resources such as videos, books, and websites to use to learn about punk history. Admittedly, my own list wasn't that long, so I thought it was best to reach out to some others and share their knowledge with everyone. Now, I'm hoping to make this an annual occurrence, where we all share our knowledge with each other. So thank you again to everyone who helped out with this!!

Making my battle jacket 1# !!
Hi, this is my first battle jacket, so if someone can give me constructive advice in the comments I'd be really happy :)
------
I got the jean jacket from my brother. Even if it didn't fit me, I still think it looks cool!
The first thing I did was turning the sleeves in (idk how 2 explain it in detail).

After I got it, I started to cut one of the sleeves off. I cut it in the middle, before I took it off completely.

I did the same thing with the other sleeve, in reality, it's the same process in both.

And this is what it looked like when I put it on!

(Btw, this is what the sleeves should look like after, or smth like that)

If anyone can give me tips on how to make/sew patches on the jacket I'd really appreciate it! Thx 4 reading :3

So I found Aaron Bushnell's reddit and went through his comments/posts. That young man was well read and stable as they can be. Nothing in his writings pointed to someone who was "unstable" or "brainwashed".
He held leftist and anarchist ideals. He belong to the ACAB subreddit. He recognized the evil of the US Military even though he himself was a part of it. He hated TERFS and called out fatphobia. He understood the dangers of white supremecy and the evils of capitalism.
He had a cat. He liked the show fleabag and played elden ring.
Apparently in his will he wants to leave any money in his name to palestinian relief funds. He was trying to find a new owner for his cat.
Rest in peace Aaron Bushnell. The world won't forget & we sure as fuck won't let the media paint you out to be some crazy conspiracy theorist who had no idea what he was doing.

A stereotype I hate is the one that believes that latinos are all black, are in a bad economic position and don't know shit. First of all, there's a huge diversity in Lationamérica. Yes, there are a lot of POC people, but not everyone's black. Second of all, not everyone is in a bad economic position. There aren't many high class latinos, but there sure are a lot of medium class people. And third of all, we do know a lot of things. Some people can actually have a good education, and they can have a ""fulfilled"" life (if I can put it like that). An example of the three is myself, actually. I am pale af, I'm in a medium class in economic position, and I have a good education (english isn't my first language but I'm still the top of my class in the language, and I can speak a bit of portuguese too, as well as my dad).
There isn't only one type of person here, gringos. Ah, y otra cosa, algunos de ustedes (no todos) realmente necesitan más clases de geografía

Don't forget about the Palestinians.
Don't forget about them now.
Don't forget about them tomorrow.
Don't forget about them in a week from now.
Don't forget about them in a month.
Don't forget them next year.
Don't forget them in 5 years.
When the history books start to update, don't let them put lies in there.
When documentaries come out, boycott the ones who call this a victory for Israel.
When books release talking about soldier's personal experiences with Palestine, remember the victims. Remember the truth.
Don't forget about what we've seen.
Don't forget about what we've heard.
Don't let them tell lies about Palestine.
Don't forget about the Palestinians when the world tries to make this go away.

i didn't realize how fucked up everything got with the Nex Bennedict story. I was pissed when I found out a little while ago that they were a nonbinary 16 year old that got beaten to death. but I thought that there was no way the people who hurt them would walk away with no consquences. then I found out that to some people Nex was out as trans and I was even more pissed his life was taken because it hadn't even really started. now I find out he didn't die because he was beated. he died because all the shit that they put him through (because you know that if it gets to the point where someone beats the shit out of you they've been saying things for a long time and you can only imagine what they're saying as they beat the daylights out of you) that after getting attacked he took his own life. the assholes won.
guys.
im fucking 17. I'm queer. I'm not even a full year older than Nex. he's fucking gone and its not fucking fair that we live in a world where that is okay. where he is blamed for his fucking death. no. no. no. no. no. no. no. no. NO. something needs to change. something has to happen. this cant be the world anymore. people my age cant kill other people my age for being who they are. we're supposed to be the woke generation. what the fuck is wrong with humans treating other people with respect. someone tried to kill Nex and they fucking succeeded. it is not his fault he's dead. its theirs.

I get really fucking pissed off when christians (I say christians because they're the ones who mostly say it, but this is for any motherfucker) who disrespect other religions. "It's just a joke!!!!" But when WE say something that's even a little contradictory to their religion they'll start fucking whining and bitching like some baby. If you want to disrespect others beliefs, fine, but don't get angry when we disrespect yours.
