Hi, welcome to my studyblr. I made this account because I wanted ND and disabled people to have a space in the studyblr community. Because it's not all aesthetic photo ops and pretty highlighters, a lot of the time it's "How in the fuck am I supposed to do this when none of the advice works for people like me?" So here, the advice does apply, it's repurposed notebooks and flashcards in bed because why waste precious spoons. Accidental Irish langblr

☀️ summer homework tips/guide! ☀️
(especially if you struggle with time management/executive dysfunction/anxiety! note that this works for me personally. it might not work for you. but i want to share this in case any part of it does work for you.)
☀️ pick a date at least a week away. for me, i picked today, august 1, all the way back at the beginning of july. this will be the day you start your summer homework!
why have it be a week away? because this way, you’ll have time to think about it. you’ll have time to mentally prepare and solidify that that date is the day you’ll start.
instead of spending every day of summer thinking “omg i have to start my homework but i don’t know when but it can’t be right now because now i’m super anxious just thinking about it” tada! now you have a when! step one complete already!
but make sure, when you pick your when, that you give yourself enough time to do the work. i recommend overestimating. for example, i gave myself a month and a week before school starts, because my energy levels can fluctuate wildly and there might be multiple days where i can’t work at all, or where i can only do an hour of work. and that’s ok, because i planned ahead!
☀️ now, once your when comes, you might have had time to mentally prepare, but you might still be super anxious. remember, small steps are still steps! today is august 1, my when, but guess what? i don’t plan on doing a single bit of homework today.
what am i doing instead of “work”?
cleaning out my folders/binders from last year, because i still haven’t done that
making sure my desk space is organized
picking a summer reading book
looking over my summer assignments. not doing, looking.
making a detailed list of what i have to do based on what i looked at
all that might not seem like “work,” but it’s still productive in the sense that it brings me closer to my goal of finishing my summer homework on time.
does this list seem like too much for you to do on your when? that’s ok! pick less stressful things to start with, and work your way up, day by day. no step is too small— especially if it’s a beginning step.
☀️ make multiple daily schedules! depending on what kind of person you are and what you need, make them strict or loose!
for example, i have two schedules, one for my “i’m ready to kick ass!” days and one for my “i feel like absolute crap” days.
my kickass schedule has more time for work, but i still keep it loose and give myself choices: one block is chem homework, the next is break or summer reading time depending on how i feel, and the next is math work.
my crap-day schedule has very little time for work, lots of either-or choices, and lots of breaks in between. some days i might not be able to do anything. and that’s ok, because i gave myself time.
☀️ give yourself time. time to prepare, time for work, time to rest, time for breaks and bad days. you can do this! i’m rooting for you. ☀️

met with my psychiatrist today, and I told her how I was having issues keeping up with the course I'm taking rn, since it's online and self paced. she suggested that I print out all the articles I'm being forced supposed to read so I can soak up all the information while highlighting and writing in the margins. I went from spending 1 hour on an assignment, to 20 minutes.

Huge news for people interested in similar things to this blog, the Say Something In Welsh team is launching an Irish language course! Resources, especially listening resources have been quite hard to find in Irish, I know way more people that can read and write in Irish than speak it with any confidence at all, and the Say Something method gave me so much more confidence in my own Welsh speaking, I imagine then coming into the Irish language teaching space is a really good thing.
Their founder Aran Jones says they've been in talks with the Irish government for 'copromotion', and while I'm not fully sure what that entails, it must be a road to having more and more widely available, quality learning resources for Gaeilge.
Since this blog is followed not just by Welsh learners, but a lot of people generally interested in language learning and Celtic studies, thought I'd mention it here! Dyn ni'n dod nôl i feddwl yn Gymraeg yn fuan, dwi'n siwr :)

Hey everyone,
I’ve been building a small Irish language learning app called Píosa Beag over the last few weeks. It gives you one new word or proverb each day, with pronunciation and a streak system to help you stick with it.
I’m a first-year software dev student and this is my first ever app. Not finished yet, but I’d love to share the journey and get any thoughts or ideas. Check it out here: https://piosabeag.ie
Slán!
This person has shared their in-progress app for learning Irish - I’ve included the link to both their site and their post on Reddit. Thought some of ye might be interested!

Dia duit! Can you recommend any Irish speaking youtubers? I mean "normal" content like vlogs, diy, gaming etc (i'm not picky). I already follow quite a few channels focused on language learning but I would love some more exposure to natural language in that context if that makes sense? GRMMA!
I think Foil, Arms and Hog have a couple of sketches with Irish in? And Clisare has definitely done videos as Gaeilge. But other than that I can’t help. I don’t really watch YouTube other than the odd time. On Instagram I enjoy SeamBoySeam and Gaylegeoiri but I don’t think they do what you’re looking for.
Anyone?

A Really Fucking Vulgar Guide to Not Losing Your Shit in College (Condensed Version)
Bitches love to put things into lists. Moreover, bitches love numbered shit. Here’s some numbered shit in list format to help you not suck in higher education. You’re welcome.
1. Go to class. Like 210% serious. I don’t give a shit if you’re a get by on nothing, A+ slacker. You’re fucking paying for this crap so you might as well get the services owed to you. Take your ass to class even if you zone out 99% of the time. You know 1% more than you did when you walked up in there. Congrats, asshole.
2. All that free time you have during your first week of classes? Make it your bitch. Don’t just print the goddamn syllabus and be like all done. No motherfucker. Take a good fucking look at that assignment list. What’s due next week? Yeah, do that shit now bc I know you don’t have anything else to do. Then when you’re coughing up a lung six weeks into the semester and don’t feel like getting your ass up to do that calculus homework, you’ll remember this week. You’ll remember that you’ve been a week ahead this whole damn semester. Pat yourself on the back, ass wipe.
3. Prepare yo self. No seriously. You got notes to print for class? Sure you could be like all those other bitches and just shove them into your backpack, or you could actually /prepare/ for class. I’m talking looking that shit over, identifying key concepts, getting a decent grasp of the material before your ass is even in class. You a STEM major? Yeah, make this kinda shit your life because now class is like one bomb ass group review session. Again, you’re welcome.
4. Snack like a motherfucker, but save that junk food shit for the weekends. From now on, you are a fucking health guru during the week or if you’re a slacker like me, at least on the days you have class. Fruits? Hell yeah. Pack some of those. Mind wandering in class? Snack on some apple slices. Can’t stay awake? Keep eating some almonds or some shit, but don’t be that bitch with the potato chips. Just don’t.
5. Read. Yeah, you heard me. Read and I’m not just talking assigned reading. I bet my left butt cheek that your campus library has /something/ of interest to you. Commuting and don’t want to drive out there? Library databases bro. We’re in the digital age, motherfucker. I’d bet my other butt cheek that the shit you want is in a nice little PDF somewhere. But na man, you thinking maybe you want to go into computer science? Check out computer science books and eat them up bro. You don’t like reading them? Probably not the field for you. You a biology major in your second year? Yeah dumbass. Time to break out the bio books and not the ones your professor is shoving in your face. Amaze your friends and teachers with your out of class knowledge. Be a fucking star.

19.02.2025—i understand studying in bed is frowned upon, but if it works for you, go right ahead. studying should make you feel safe and comfortable, and if you feel safe and comfortable from your bed, study there. even just for 10 minutes
