The sun was beginning to set and the first twinkles of the stars were coming into view through the gradient orange and blue sky. A storm was on its way, and Atlas could see the clouds rolling in that would soon make those stars disappear again. As they were beginning to collect their belongings, they picked up the sense that someone or something questionable was nearby.
It was coming from just beyond the border of the woods and the worn down fence that clearly did little to keep out intruders. He could hear some twigs snapping, and the pauses between those sounds suggested whoever it was, they were deliberately trying to be sneaky.
@ask-sister-eclipse
Atlas had set out to go star gazing for the first time since his mates vanished in an attempt to find some normalcy again, to find some of himself again. Unfortunately with the storm rolling in, they didnt get to see many stars. "Mhm. That does feel adequate to what has been happening lately." They mumbled aloud.
The sound of someone just beyond the fence caught his attention and for a moment Atlas thought it was Plasma or Chain finally returning. But the scent was... too different. Right. "Who is lingering beyond the trees? Sneaking around ghouls is rather pointless, are you not aware?" Their eyes narrowed at the source of the sound, tail flicking. With a sigh, Atlas decided to investigate the sound and get closer.

"Ah one of Primo's old favorites, the original Dracula. He likes to point out all the inaccuracies." Atlas chuckled as they watched the old bat's wings twitch in his sleep. "If you would like to watch something different i absolutely can change it, dear." He said softly, leaning down to gently kiss the ghoul's head.
"Lavis... Lavis dear are you okay?" Atlas murmured softly while gently shaking the ghoul awake. He was still at Primo's cottage, having fallen asleep while watching movies after dinner. "You were whimpering and crying in your sleep, dear. Something about your father?"

Lavis took a while to wake up, he was jolting and twitching when he did. Fat tears were still rolling down his eyes unknowingly.
"... Ok.... I'm.... Ok...." Lavis's eyes widened as he heard 'Father'.. Like he was remembering something forgotten long ago. ".....Dada.... Not here...." Lavis said in a quiet, stressed voice.
Lavis grabbed onto Atlas's hand and whined, looking up at him.

Atlas just smiled and nodded, sitting back down beside the ghoul. "I believe you, Lavis. I hope someday you get to see him again." They looked up at the screen, it was playing old horror movies that Primo loved. The ones that are cringey by today's standards, and the old bat himself was currently snoring.

"Oh dear... I am sorry to hear that. I'm certain he was a wonderful ghoul." They said softly, holding his hand while the other cupped his face. The movie still played quietly in the background as fireflies buzzed around them and the cicadas screamed off in the distance amongst the trees. "You may stay here with us for as long as you please, Lavis. We would be delighted."

What's going on, Starfish? Would you like to go out for dinner with me?
that feeling when kneeling surgery is tomorrow…

Atlas grinned and clapped his hands together softly, not wanting to startle the ghoul. "Wonderful! The numbing will wear off within a few hours, in the meantime you are free to do as you wish, so long as you are here for dinner." They grinned, tail wagging and looking to Primo with a sense of pride in their eyes.
"Sí sí, we are going to make something Jim told us you would like. Then perhaps set up the projector outside and watch some movies?" Primo spoke to Lavis, gently squeezing his hand with a soft look on his face. Sterling chittered from the other room, pouting at her lack of attention as she managed to escape the nest and crawl up the side of Primo's robes to his shoulder.
Lavis had been crawling in the woods in ghoul form, he ached badly but he knew what he needed to do.
He had recently been exploring around the ministry, but he was barely out of it. It didn't help that the ministry made him so hostile a lot of the time. He had no choice either since the church burnt down.
Lavis, barely at the door, turned back into his normal form, panting and coughing blood as he did. He warily knocked on the door, holding his abdomen.

Atlas was humming one of Primo's old songs while carrying their kit around, doing odd little chores ad a break from their latest project. The door knocking was a welcome distraction, opening it and gasping lightly at the sight of Lavis. "Oh dear, you must be Lavis. Primo had told me about you awhile back. How may I be of service?" They smiled and stepped to the side, offering a hand to help Lavis inside the cottage. Sterling smelled the burnt flesh and blood, chirping in confusion and moving her head to try and locate the source from her spot on his shoulder.

Atlas took a moment to catch their breath, their glasses falling down their nose enough for Lavis to see the glowing purple resonating from their eyes. "Ah, well now we test that it worked." He said with a slight chuckle. He took the tool away from Lavis' eye and covered the one that hadn't been harmed with a piece of plastic, studying the green one and smiling as he saw it moving with Lavis' movements. "Can you see out of it, dear?" Atlas tilted their head, Primo did as well. Papa did not have full faith that this would work given Atlas' track record on healing abilities. But this technically wasn't healing either. So he watched as Atlas used the tip of his tail for Lavis' new eye to try and track, moving it slowly in front of the ghoul.

"Thank you, dear. You may feel some slight discomfort and tingling, take a deep breath for me and squeeze Papa Primo's hand okay?" They said softly, noticing Lavis' curiosity and smiling. They'd show him the books afterwards, it'd be more exciting when he can see with both eyes.
But for now, Atlas leans in with a tool to open the ghoul's eye lids, leaving the socket wide and exposed so they could insert the transplant eye. Once it was settled in properly they sat back and threw the last ingredient into the metal bowl, speaking fluently in old latin as a purple glow began to form around them. It didn't take long before the spell was over, the air pressure in the cottage growing thick and tense, static causing hair to raise on ghouls and Papa's bodies, and a swirl of star dust surrounding both Lavis and Atlas before everything settled.

Atlas wagged their tail in response, feeling honored that he felt comfortable around them. Once Lavis said he was ready, they approached again and sat down. "Primo will stay here to hold your hand, alright dear? Upon inspection I do unfortunately believe that your optic nerves are too damaged to do a normal transplant, so I shall resort to a spell. If at any point it feels wrong or too painful, I need you to say something, okay?"
They opened one of their old tomes and opened it to the page with the spell he needed to heal Lavis' eye. The spell was fairly complex but it would leave the centipede ghoul with the ability to see once again.

Primo happily walked up to Lavis and gently held his hand in return, his wings folding closed and vanishing as to not bump into anything. "Ah, Lavis! I missed you greatly, what happened was truly devastating. But you are in safe hands with Atlas." He looked over all the things his mate had gathered and smiled. He did however keep the news of Miasma to himself.
Atlas knew and raised an eyebrow, but kept quiet and put away the ice cream for Primo and the rest of their dinner plans. "You're gonna stay for dinner though, I hope that is okay?"

"We can call him back afterwards so you can say hi, and do not worry dear, I want you to feel comfortable." Atlas stretched while he spoke, back and neck cracking before they turn to gather some more of their stuff. The front door opened and Primo walked in with the ice cream and some other goodies for Lavis, grinning and setting the stuff down to say hello and check on the ghoul.

Atlas saw the tears and immediately stopped, pulling back from Lavis with a worried look while helping him sit up. "No no, it is okay. Do you need a moment? It will take some time for the area to numb, we can just sit here in the meantime, okay? Primo will be back soon, he went out to get some ice cream." They smiled softly, trying to figure out how to help the ghoul feel calmer and safe.
"Jim called and told us what you like, Primo thought to pick up some should you happen by to avoid the ministry. You may also use the greenhouse outback as a hiding place if it would help." They gestured out the window to the greenhouse that looked old and overgrown, but there was a warm glowing light within it.

Atlas nodded and smiled, pulling the eye out with a spoon and carefully rinsing it. He put it into another bowl of fluids, scrubbing up their hands and reclining Lavis' chair so they could see his eye. "Green is a beautiful choice, my dear. Now, I am going to numb you, okay?" Even if Lavis was okay with the pain, Atlas could not stand the thought of harming the ghoul anymore.
They injected the needle carefully under his eyesocket to numb the skin and muscle. Then Atlas grabbed the tools needed and turned back to Lavis, pulling a lamp closer and opening the socket to check how bad the damage was.

Atlas hummed and stood up, walking over to the fridge and pulling out a jar of freshly harvested eyes. They hadn't even clouded over yet. "You have a choice of blue, green, or brown. I must also warn you that it will be unpleasant to reconnect your optic nerves if at all possible. If it will not take normally, then I will have to resort to magick. On the chance that does not work then you will have to use a prosthetic."
Atlas set the jaw down on the work bench and stepped out of the room to put Sterling in the nest, blind or not, they did not want her to witness what was to come.

"I know you are scared, it will be okay. No one is allowed entry without Primo, Plasma, or my permission." They said softly, sitting down across from Lavis and studying his burn wounds, noting all the blood and sighing softly. "Oh you poor thing..."
They turned and reached across the table, picking up different vials and bottles to read their labels before mixing three of them into a mug of warm water. "Here, this should heal the burns and help clot your bleeding as well. Now, what would you like for a new eye? I can make one out of metal, glass or some other material. If you truly wished for it, I could also make one organically."

Sterling poofed up and let out the tiniest growls in return. Confused as to why the source of burning and blood was hissing at her, she moved to hide further behind Atlas and curled up in his hood. "She cannot even see you, dear. I assure you, Sterling is no threat. Now, let us see what we can do for your eye and maybe these burns, hm?"
They smiled gently, leading Lavis further into the cottage and bringing him to their work bench.
