His smile made her smile just a little harder. Birch was hoping that maybe he was a bit like her. Yes, she loved the community she had with her fellow gardeners out in the orchard and fields but she also liked those moments of solitude that she got when she went to the forest edge to free a bunny or send a squirrel back home. Birch could sit and listen to the bird song for hours if she wasn’t careful to watch the time. “I like the quiet too! Well, the forest’s version of quiet, you know? Where you can hear the crickets sing and the birds calling and the critters scurrying about. Real quiet is kind of scary to me.”
// I’ve seen your rps and they’re so frickin captivating so this is me taking a little shot in the dark :3 (also I just love this character you’ve made. The Latin in particular is just chefs kiss✨) //
More towards the edge of the deep wood there was a sizable clearing. The grass there was tall and the weeds ran wild with no one to force them away. Several patches of wildflowers grew together, splotched around the area. On the edge of the clearing came a girl in overalls with long horns that looked like branches. She held a little wooden cage in her hands.
Once she traversed a few feet into the tall grass she knelt down and opened up the cage. A little grey bunny tentatively inched its way out. After a little sniffing around the bunny happily began to hop around before bounding off towards the opposite side of the clearing. The girl who freed him stayed on the ground with a wide smile on her face as she watched him go away.

She watched the bunny hop into the distance, finally free, able to enjoy the free life of a wild rabbit, unburdened by any of the wild ghouls the ministry had to offer. The bunny could finally live a life free from the fear that any ghouls would hunt it.
..Until a ghoul she had never seen before seemingly came out of buttfuck nowhere and snatched up the rabbit by the scruff of it’s neck.
The ghoul, about an average height, looked around the (almost) empty clearing with curious eyes. It pet the top of the rabbit with a small smile. He didn’t seem like he’d kill the animal, but there is, of course, always a chance.
Finally, the ghoul’s eyes landed on her. He took a staggering step back, dead leaves crunching loudly beneath his feet. His eyes seemed to widen to the size of ping-pong balls.
“Wh.. Who…” The ghoul asked, clearly very shocked to see her there.

That little spark intrigued her and she couldn’t help but take a step closer to close the gap between them into just a few feet. Birch’s smile hadn’t once dropped the entire conversation but she didn’t seem to be forcing it whatsoever. “Sounds like an important job! I’m sure Frater is grateful for your help.”
She glanced around a little, thinking about how far out they were from the main grounds. Her eyes returned to Abel’s as she raised a brow, “Why do you stay so far out, though? Doesn’t it get lonely without other ghouls?” Birch nearly went on a tangent about how she could never stand living a life without having her friends around but she stopped herself before she could get a word out, realizing that maybe Abel didn’t live out her by choice or perhaps he wasn’t interested in friends like she was.

Birch attempted to follow his gaze and see what exactly he was looking at but all she saw was the dense foliage and the towering trees. She instead observed Abel and how features, noting that he was most definitely an Earth ghoul like herself. Though she'd never met one that didn't stay on Ministry grounds like everyone else. Birch pushed the thought away, deeming it a bit judging, as she knew damn well she would live at least on the forest's edge if she could.
"Frater? What do you do for him?" she asked with a tilt of her head. She had plenty more questions but chose to withhold them seeing as it'd probably end with less answers and more overwhelming confusion for the other ghoul.

To her the awkwardness was somewhat endearing. She smiled warmly and nodded, taking a step closer. “I wish I could live further out. But I’m needed there.” Birch enunciated a bit more instead of letting her soft tone creep in and melt her words together like it usually does. Though she had no particular accent (her voice was fairly neutral in term of American accents) her soft spoken nature usually made her mumble and whisper words that sounded like verbal cursive.
“You live…” she gestured out towards their surroundings, “here..?” Now that she thought of it, Birch wasn’t quite sure where exactly here was.

Only then did it click for her that Abel seemed to struggle with speech. At first she assumed he was shy or cautious but now she was intrigued. He was a ghoul she’d never seen before who seemed to live in the forest. It wouldn’t have been so surprising if he was a bit different from all the ghouls back on the main grounds.
Birch nodded at his question with a proud smile, “I take care of the plants. The animals too.” With her hands she gestured vaguely towards where the bunny had gone, hoping maybe it’d help get her point across.

Birch stared after the bunny until it disappeared before locking eyes with Abel once more. She pushed her glasses a bit further up her nose bridge but the moment her hands weren’t occupied she had no idea what to do with them except keep them at her sides, her fingers awkwardly indecisive between spreading and clenching into a fist.
“He was in my garden. Ate some of my tomatoes then got too fat to fit under the fence and got stuck,” she explained softly. Finally her hands settled for clasping in front of her. “He was a little hurt so I helped him out and decided to free him where he might not find the main grounds again.”

She seemed equally as confused as she stared at him for a few moments that felt like nearly an eternity. The ghoulette slowly stood up. The tiny girl only came up to 5 foot or so and she seemed to be well aware of her below average stature. Her mouth hung open silently until finally she snapped out of it with a shake of her head. “I’m Birch. I’ve never seen you around here before… Who are you?”
Birch had the voice of maybe the softest little creature to ever exist. She sounded like one of those people that apologized to inanimate objects on a daily basis. Her tail swished back and forth stiffly, the leaves rustling in the light breeze like they were truly attached to a tree branch.

What's your favorite flower? Mines a purple gladiolus!

(photo was taken by me)
Those are so pretty! My favorites are snapdragons! They symbolize strength and grace but can also mean deception and concealment. Which is pretty interesting because as pretty as they are, when they die they look like little skulls! The tiny skulls kind of make me think of Papa Primo.

Introductions?
Hello! My name is Birch. A few friends of mine suggested that I get in here and join in on all the fun! I gave a lot to do around the Ministry but I’ll be sure to keep up with things as best I can! Let me share a little about myself below.
I was summoned when the Ministry was fairly new in 2010. It’s embarrassing to admit but I was pretty mischievous at the time… Primo did so much for me though and over time I learned how much fun gardening is! I absolutely love plant and animal life which makes my job even better! I’m 24 now and I’m one of the head gardeners for the entire grounds! You’ll usually find me out in the greenhouse or in the orchard if I’m not in the garden.
If you come and see me be prepared for some plant facts!
Mod time!! Hello hello! This blog is run by @fortheminute! This is my Ghost ghoul OC Birch. You may send her asks, roleplay, etc..
I am a minor! That means there will be no NSFW on this account! Since Birch is an adult you may send 13+ content such as suggestive asks, jokes, or flirting.
