Welcome to the idyllic town of Addersfield, located on History Island in Auradon, home of Illedale University.
Students here are children of some rather famous faces. And some have made fame in their own right, like King Ben or the Lady Mal. We’re proud to boast a diverse student culture and a rich history–
[–and that’s enough of THAT broadcast! Is this thing on? Hello? Can you hear me?
Good. I’ll warn ya right now, everybody– if you thought Auradon Prep was wild, you ain’t seen nothing yet! Illedale is bigger, meaner, and with the past not so distant to us, tensions can run pretty high around here.
‘Course, you probably know the story by now. When preparing for his coronation, King Ben declared his first royal proclamation to allow over 4 VKs from the Isle of the Lost to come to the city. After a whole showdown about good and evil, the four integrated into Auradon society pretty well, and then after drama at Cotillion, Mowgli rallied the Auradon people to fight for the disbandment of the Isle, sending the villains to rehab and their kids to Auradon Prep.
Catching you up since graduation, pretty much all of us ended up moving to Addersfield for higher education in Auradon’s system– cuz man, I gotta tell ya, it’s a lot better in Auradon than it is anywhere else. Well, 'cept for all the evil takeovers, I guess.
But not everyone’s cut out for college itself. The nice thing about Addersfield is that it’s all a pretty tight-knit community based around the school itself. More of a college township, as it were. So some of AP’s graduates moved to town to work with a crowd they know well.
I can’t stay much longer, but don’t let the stuffy advertising fool ya about this place, folks! We’re a lot more than what the surface wants to pretend. I’d drop your application while you can if I were in your shoes! This is P. Warner, sending you right back to your regularly scheduled programming!]
–and enroll in your future today at Illedale University, where the story starts anew.

Solo Para: Last Goodbye
Dear… well, whoever’s reading this one,
This isn’t an accidentally sent letter. It’s not that I want to be impersonal… I just don’t have the time. Pass it on to everyone mentioned for me, will you?
Drew– Kid. Kid I’m so sorry. I don’t… I don’t know when I’ll be back. I’ll try to write. You’ll always be my brother, I promise. I know you’ve been working on your confidence… and you’re doing amazing. Keep it up. I believe in you.
Quilla– You’ve been an amazing friend. I was so lucky to meet you and I’m grateful for all you’ve taught me. Keep looking up. You’re a lot stronger than what most people see you for… remember that.
Cora– Good luck with Wonderland, princess. Maybe I’ll see you on Curionous one day, huh? Seriously, though, you’re going to be an amazing… er, to use your own words, wicked… queen one day. I can already see it.
Maddy– I hope for the best for you. I know that can’t be easy to believe… but it’s the truth. You have been a good friend, and I believe you are capable of being so much more than what you see in yourself.
Felix– Guess we didn’t really get to talk much, at least, not recently. But… thank you, for your understanding, and for being my friend at first, if nothing else.
Audrey– …yeah. I should have been a better person, and apologies from a boy running away don’t mean much… but I’m still sorry.
Tayen– …I hate you. Sorta. Okay, well… you’ve been a great sister.
Jessie– I’m sorry. For everything I’ve done to you, since I got here. I hope things do so much better for you now. Because you deserve it. You’re a talented, strong girl. I’ve always believed in you… no matter what terms we were on.
There are more of you, I’m sure, but… this is all I have time for. I’m heading back to Montressor to be closer to Amelia. There was this accident… I can’t talk about it. What’s important to know is, you never know how much time you have with someone until they’re gone. I don’t want this to be the last chance I have and miss it.
Thank you, Auradon, for being a wonderful home.
Sincerely,
James Pleiades Hawkins, Jr.

James looks at her, sniffling weakly, sighing a bit. “My aunt was attacked by pirates on what should have been a routine transport. She’s in critical condition at the hospital. And I can’t get off this nightmare of a planet so all I can do is wait for my dad to send me updates... and I’m just... I’m so scared, Tayen. I can’t do anything for her here but I can’t... help. I’m just... here.”
"James? I uh... I saw that you weren't at lunch today. Are... Are you okay?"
James looks up, hearing Tayen, sniffling weakly, sitting up. “…’m fine.”
No he’s not, and he neither sounds it nor looks it. He looks like a mess, actually.

“Yeah, by definition. Born and raised on the planet Montressor. Why, were you expecting something less human?” James chuckles softly.
He closes the sail to land himself, picking up his board again, smiling at her. “There’s a reason I don’t really tend to say I’m an alien, I know I don’t look it. But, by definition, I most certainly am.”

“No, not really. This came with me from my home planet, they don’t have anything like it here in Auradon. Plus, most of their stuff here doesn’t run on solar power like things do back home.”
Open Starter: Watch Out!
Better than nothing. James happily took to the skies on his board, enjoying the feeling as he flies– occasionally doing some pretty reckless stunts, unsurprisingly. It gave him a chance to clear his head a bit and think things over.
Was he really like his mother? No… no, of course not, right? She had up and abandoned him, and his sister, and his father– she would never come back. She didn’t want them. He would never…
…but he had that instinct. To wander, to move– to sail. He wanted to go, to keep exploring and just get out. The same drive she herself had… it was within him, too.
Lost in his thoughts, he almost doesn’t see someone crossing his path, and barely swerves out of the way with a yelp. “Whoa! Sorry!”
Slowly, he lowers himself and closes the sail, climbing off his board and picking it up. “I didn’t hit you, did I?”

“I gotta be open with you, I’m an alien on this planet, I’m actually from the planet Montressor. I barely fit in here. I have a feeling I’d just confuse the people of Camelot.” James chuckles softly. “Not that I wouldn’t mind it, just to say I did it, I guess.”
When stars twinkle, there's turbulence in the sky. Don't think for second that no one can see what that twinkle in your eyes must mean.
…I literally do not understand this planet. What are you TRYING to say to me?

James shrugs, clearing his throat. “Thanks. But really... I’m...”
He stops, trying again. “I’m...”
Looking down, James starts crying softly again, laying back down slowly.
"James? I uh... I saw that you weren't at lunch today. Are... Are you okay?"
James looks up, hearing Tayen, sniffling weakly, sitting up. “…’m fine.”
No he’s not, and he neither sounds it nor looks it. He looks like a mess, actually.

“Oh, it’s got a solar sail that’s activated by a trigger on the board, and the sail connects to the engine and gives it power.”
To make his point, James sets his board down and climbs on, stepping on the trigger for the sail and lifting off the ground gently. “It’s from my home planet.”

Solo Para: Situation
TW: Injury, violence, brain stuff.
James was doing his homework when his dad called him. The second he answered, he could tell his father was crying, and he asked if he was in his room.
“Yeah, I am. What is it, what’s going on?”
“Bear with me-- it’s Amelia. She was on a voyage and... and they were attacked by pirates-- Junior, it was really bad.”
James felt his heart hit his stomach and he drops his pencil, standing up. “What?! What happened?”
“She was sailing-- it was supposed to be a quick trip from the port to one of the local planets, just a normal supply run really-- well, she ran into some trouble on her way out-- they hit her bad, pretty much knocked her around her cabin with the force of their shots. She’s got a punctured lung, fractured some bones... there’s also this brain bleed, they have to keep her in an induced coma while they work out everything with that. They’ve got her in a hospital on the planet she was heading to, I’m heading out there tonight. I know-- I know you can’t make it, I know Auradon can’t possibly get you up here fast enough. I’ll keep in touch and keep you updated.”
His dad can barely speak through his tears, and James blinks back his own, trying to muster up some kind of reassuring tone despite how he felt. “Dad-- dad, it’s okay. Dad, she’s going to be okay. Come on, dad, just breathe-- she’s going to make it, it’s going to be okay.”
He speaks with more confidence than he feels. He doesn’t quite catch what his dad says, but then they exchange goodbyes and Jim hangs up.
James sets his phone down before going over and laying on his bed. This... this wasn’t happening, right? Not to... not to Aunt Amelia, of all people. She was probably his favorite in his extended family.
And then, James breaks down crying, curling up a bit, pulling his pillow over his head. He couldn’t... do this.

“It takes a lot of practice to handle it properly. Helps to have someone teach you, too. It took a while for me to get it down, even though I had both. But I agree, I love everything about the experience. Doesn’t quite beat sailing back home... but it’s something, just the same.”

“I’ve heard quite a bit about Camelot, actually, your brother was planning on inviting me to join him when he went back but then... left. It is what it is, I’m out of place here as it is, I don’t think I’d have done well there. Although I will say you’re not alone, in terms of people who make trouble for themselves at home.”

James smiles a bit and holds up his board. “Solar surfboard. Well, most people call it a hoverboard, but I learned to call it what my dad did. It’s better than the technology this planet has been calling a hoverboard, by a long shot. How have you been, Kalani?”
Open Starter: Watch Out!
Better than nothing. James happily took to the skies on his board, enjoying the feeling as he flies– occasionally doing some pretty reckless stunts, unsurprisingly. It gave him a chance to clear his head a bit and think things over.

“Yeah, it’s something all right. It’s from my home planet. James, nice to meet you, Asima.”
James chuckles a bit, looking over his board. “Solar surfboard. The more common term would be hoverboard.”

“It’s fine, it’s fine... well, the common term is a hoverboard. But growing up, my dad always called it what he did when he was young, so I learned the same-- solar surfboard. I’m James.”

James chuckles lightly. “I’m all right, thanks for the concern. I’m touched. Glad to know I didn’t hit you, my board didn’t die, and this time I didn’t break my arm, so...”
