Well...

One day, when I was 8, my other dad- that's Kleiner- took me to help him move a few things out of his old lab in City 6, and..

..well, it didn't.. go so well. It turns out the Combine had been waiting for us there.

There weren't many of them, but, there was a manhack, and, it.. nearly got me. He pulled me away from it at the last second, but it still.. grazed my eye.

...

I'm just glad we could get back into the teleporter in time. I don't like to think about what would've happened if it took longer.

We're.. mostly doing alright.

Well.. Dad has been looking a bit worried the past few days, but.. he won't tell me what's wrong.

So Kip, you made Silver, right? What was that like?

Kip: Well, at first it wasn't too complicated! Relative to making other robots, I mean. Trying to replicate my own personality was definitely a challenge, but after being tamed she developed her own personality, anyway. It definitely didn't make it any easier that I had to use bits of Combine scrap for most of it, or the battle damage from Black Mesa...

I'm very proud of her now, though! The result was better than I ever hoped for, and we've also grown very close!

Oh! I think.. yes, I remember Kleiner telling me about it! I don't really know why they called it 'Maize', but, his team in Black Mesa had discovered this alien in Xen nearly the size of a dwarf planet - in fact, they actually thought it was one at first! But it was alive, and a few signs were showing that it was intelligent, too, and it had its own ecosystems, and... and...
