Well, I have to say I unfortunately can't communicate with anybody else's Sides, so I hope your anxiety comes back on her own. Wait - does that sound wrong? What I mean is I too know what it's like to have an anxiety-filled dinner time (thank you Virgil!), so I hope she doesn't give you too much trouble whenever she comes back!

Hello again! Sooo, I wasn’t able to turn in that history geo project yet because there was a bomb threat at my school so we were in lockdown for like three hours. I did finish it though! I’m going to be honest I’m a lot less stressed about it now because of the whole: me and my friends had to hide in a concrete closet for half an hour as all of us texted out families just in case we didn’t make it out of the school. But you know they let us head back into the main classroom and me and like three other people that I became friends with because I kinda thought I was gonna die played uno for most of the time until one of us found a Family Guy compilation on youtube and we watched that while the bomb squad made a run through the school. So that’s fun 🙃

Hi. I uh don’t really know how to start this it’s just that I’m a freshman in high school and I have this history geo class and the teacher scares me. I know she doesn’t really mean to she’s just kinda intense and her class is too. Im at a bit of a disadvantage because I was pretty much never taught geography. I didn’t even know the basics until a few years ago when I had to ask my parents how many continents there are. Back to the topic at hand I have a project in her class that we’ve had assigned for a little while but I completely forgot about it with all the homework from hers and other classes and it was supposed to be due today but I was out today because i got hit with a painful mixture of Dysphoria, Executive Dysfunction, Anxiety, and Lack of Sleep. So I spent the entire day working on it but I’m still not finished and it’s freaking me out. Sorry for rambling I just kinda needed to get this out. Thank you.

High school is stressful, isn't it? Your story reminds me of way back when my geography teacher would make us draw perfect maps, otherwise she'd dock a lot of points from our grade. So hey, you're not alone in the scary geography teacher department!

I think I answered this a day late- I hope you were able to finish your project on time. You're working hard and clearly have a lot on your plate, so don't be discouraged if you didn't get a perfect grade. The important part is to keep learning!

If you don't mind a little advice from me, because the executives in my head have been dysfunctional for quite some time. I always hated to hear this from my own parents, but writing things down (use your school planner if you have one!) and setting a schedule for yourself (or use alarms, if you tend to forget things easily) might help you manage your school-life balance. These methods doesn't work for everybody, but it's definitely something to try. Hopefully you will find some strategy that will make high school more manageable and less overwhelming 😵‍💫. I'm rooting for you, kiddo!

Hey dad 💜 sorry I haven't written, it's been a rough couple of weeks. I won't get into it, but I wanted to share a cute story from today - we have a little restaurant/cafe in the store I work at, and I have some friends up there. I always ask for extra cheese when I order the kid's pasta, like lots of extra cheese 😅. Today I think my friends could tell I was feeling down; I hadn't been able to eat in the cafe in a bit so it was my first chance to talk to everybody.

They were kind enough to give me plenty of extra cheese. A whole soup cup full. I laughed so hard I had to sit down. It was *exactly* what I needed.

I hope you're doing ok dad. It's extra hot where I am, and I know Florida is pretty hot rn too. Be careful in the yard, and tell the bees I said hi. 💜🐝

Hey Patton, how would I deal with a friend ghosting me after like 10+ years of friendship? It happened about 2 years ago and I still think about her and miss her and I just want to get over it already

Hey kiddo, I know how you're feeling. I still haven't quite let go of some past friendships that were very important to me.

The relationships in your life change with time. Some are lifelong, but some grow distant naturally, and some are cut short abruptly. What's important to remember in hose situations, is that grief is completely natural. Maybe your grieving isn't over yet, and you need some more time to work through it.

There's a saying that goes, "absence makes the heart grow fonder." Usually people use it to talk about long-distance relationships, but it can apply here to "distance" as in "length of time". It's okay to cherish your memories with that friend, and it's okay to miss the good times. "Getting over it" doesn't mean you have to forget about it.

It's also important to recognize your current relationships and how much they mean to you. I tend to remind myself that if I didn't have those past relationships, I wouldn't have the experience to be a better friend now. It hurts to lose close friends, but you can appreciate the times you had with them while also appreciating the people you love in the present.

I hope some of this will be useful to help you process your feelings about that relationship, and that you will be able to move on to make new memories with the friends you cherish.
