 People from another place, from another or what have you. Whoever they are they all come here lead by similar circumstance. So call them what you like! Travelers, transients, fallers, odds are if you know about them then you’re likely one of them yourself. The only thing we happen to hear about them these days are tales about them wandering amok lead astray by a split between their home and some weird, weird world. Some of them even arrive in pairs, maybe even groups bonding over their mutual confusion. It happens this way; the people come then those people have to eventually leave never quite knowing why they were dragged here in the first place. If they’re fortunate enough they might get an answer, but it’s never going to be enough for them.

 And maybe some day they will find their way back here, a place where the moon glows dimly and all the planets of a starry night are lined onto each other like the pieces of a puzzle.

 But save for the couple who happen to get ill or the ones who were strange even before they got here – it’s not as if they’re special. The only thing these people happen to be is peculiar, as so there’s a wee bit of culture shock that comes with being tossed from one of thousand upon thousand places. They got their quirks, like how you have to turn your head just the right way to stare at one, or others who happen to be more vicious and rabid than any beasts there might be in these worlds. Strange as they are; downright illogical at times, they’re still no different than anyone of us.

 Sure they may never have their reasons to be here, they might have a story to tell better than the tired excuse of having the whole world swept from the rug under them.

 Alas not tales are created equal, not everyone’s got to be out there fighting evil – or goodness being the evil we should be fighting. This whole summoning shtick (if you can hardly call it such a thing) simply happens and when it does then they’re cast to the many crags of a cold, cold world. Where then they’ll wander, they might come real close to freezing solid, but somewhere they’ll find their path among those frigid valleys. The outside an inhospitable land for a reason; generally people don’t go here. Even when the only concerns were once the bits of earth bombarding it and the boulders of garbage crashing down from seams in the sky it was somewhat manageable way back when. But when the moon went dim, and it became so dark not even winter to grace here.. The only likes left here are those who’d fallen through and everyone who feels like preying on their desperation.

 It’s cold here, chilling to the bone. The earth wasn’t much help either, it’s just another dirt bed covering the occasional hard-as-brick cliff face. The landing was rough; it could have been a lot rougher if the world here still worked the way it did back home. But it’s far from the same place, this place is too desolate to be a home to anyone.

“hey yonder where ya been?”

so, i’m really not feeling it blog wise atm. This summer I’ve been picking up animation and maybe some storyboard practice for an animation course this fall, so I’ve been updating my youtube a bit more as of late. Maybe finally do an MAP part, we’ll see!

as well as researching and reworking my comic’s plot and characters and eventually a script rewrite, that’s taking a big chunk of time

i got a small pokeask thing planned, so I won’t vanish entirely just yet. I’ll signal boost it when its done.

A small update

There’s really no easy way for me to put this, so I’m just gonna come out and say it.

Around the end of April I began experiencing severe ocular migraines on account of just how bad my vision is. Long story short, I’m so near-sighted that I can’t properly function and there’s a good chance my retinas are stretching, thinning, and beginning to tear. There’s a good chance I might be going blind.

There *is* a way to prevent the loss of my vision, and that’s with lasik surgery to permanently correct my vision so my retinas are put back into place and aren’t stretched so thin.

Unfortunately, lasik is expensive and still seen as elective, so I’m fighting an uphill battle with my insurance company to get it covered because otherwise that’s 2k out of pocket.

Screens give me headaches (even just looking at things in general gives me headaches), so I’ve been unable to work on commissions, let alone the blog.

I have an appointment on the 22nd with an optometrist, who can hopefully get me a referral for lasik so I can get back to doing what I love: art.

I’m not quite sure how soon I’ll be back, but I miss you all and your stories very much!

The lava seems to flow upward into the salazzle’s tail like a massive straw. If there was any doubt previously what she was made of, her biology was indisputable now.

What about some rivalries? Wanted or unwanted lol

I never got around to illustrating any of the backstory and I don’t think I ever will but this is Rinzler. Might as well explain the story here while I’m at it since he’ll just sorta cameo in asks from time to time and if Leilani is a guilty pleasure character, Rinzler is x10 that.

The skull Leilani was holding in this ask belongs to this noivern’s father. The little noibat didn’t know Leilani killed him, and began to wander aimlessly without his parent to look after him. Found Leilani, and admired her for being so strong and doing whatever she wanted. She let him follow her around because why the hell not, it was amusing to watch him imitate her, and especially hilarious to watch him try to fight salandit only to get beat up.

One day Leilani tells him that she killed his father to get a rise out of him but to her suprise, he doesn’t care. To him, his father was weak. He had developed a philosophy of Power. He had taken Leilani’s craving for control and turned it into a “might makes right, strong control the weak” kind of thing. And he looked up to Leilani for this philosophy. 

She was startled by this, but being so amused by this, let him do as he pleased. And this kid, one day, decided he wanted to be like her so much he flung himself into a lavaflow to “become” melty like her. His body instinctively evolved in order to save him from dying. He still carries heavy burns and half of his face burnt off. Debatable if he now carries a fire/dragon typing from the traumatic evolution.

He saw this as a good thing. He took what he wanted, when he wanted. He craved power, he took it. Until the only one stronger than him was Leilani, and then saw her as an enemy. He now swears to kill Leilani, and take his rightful spot as the ruler of the island.

At this point she sees him as both amusing and a nuisance. She knows he could kill her, but she’s very good at avoiding him. While he is not redeemable, its kinda sad when you realize he’s still the equivalent of a 13 year old.

Pretty much: He’s Leilani except if she was actually proactive about craving control and wasn’t shackled to Wela.

The only thing he respects is power, so he falls under Lawful Evil.

He low-key exists as an overly edgy character for Leilani to make fun of. And yes. He named himself.
