Maybe Caleb's idea of jack was a bit... Skewed. Since he enjoyed coding obviously he had heard about jack before meeting him. Though actually meeting him was interesting. He was easier to talk to than he thought, though the pet names were... Something to get used to. And the occasional flirt after he became a doppelganger. Though overall he liked jack, thought he was someone he could be friends with.

Ai jack was... An experience. Of course just hearing about his existence shook him up a bit. Yknow the whole "but jack is... dead- how did they.." thing. But he didnt seem all too different from the jack he remembered, for better or for worse.. So it wasnt hard for him to get used to his presence, even if it does hurt to see his face sometimes. Hes still... Jack. He guesses.

I was asked in a dream “what’s it like”.

And I wasn’t sure what was meant by that so I asked the whispy thing in front of me what it meant.

“What’s it like reaching out so much and receiving so little in return, physically? Does it hurt? Does it dig into you that people always expect you to comfort them? That they probably wouldn’t do that for you? That every handshake, every touch, every hug, and shoulder pat is always initiated by you? Rarely returned. Rarely given by others.”

"well, not particularly! hard to be bored when somethin's always tryin' to kill ya. but honestly, whenever im bored i just mess around with some robotics, taking them apart and putting em back together. or making somethin' new. coding is also fun!"

"honestly? i do. i really wish i hadnt gotten the surgery at the very least. since it kinda linked me to him forever and all that."

"well, uh, no- See, i left before my contract was up, so instead of getting paid i got a bounty, haha.. Uh, but honestly? i dont think that Jack wouldve paid us anyways. Unless you mean the whole vault hunter thing, cause i did get paid for that." "according to jack, the surgery was probably our payment."

It's the same makeshift shack Rabbit wakes up in. Still, he jolts awake, and instantly his gun in his hands, steady though he could hear his heartbeat in his ears.

He swallows, and lowers the gun. His hands are shaking. He closes his eyes but his nightmare still lingers. His throat feels raw. Was he screaming? He had been saying sorry in his dream, promise after promise he was good. He was dependable. He wouldn't ever leave his job again. He'd prove himself again, just let go please! Please, please, plesse!

He kicked and fought but the hands on him were iron tight. He could feel his own actions grow more desperate, feel the weak tears in his eyes, see the satisfied grin of his boss. And then, he'd woken up.

He licked his lips. He was up for the day. Not that it was day. He could still see stars. Who knew if he'd gotten any sleep. He put his mask back on, the weight of it brought some comfort, but sitting alone with his thoughts made him jumpy.

So, he moved outside to look at the sky. Taking deep breaths he tried to think of anything good. Anything to ease his mind. He was okay. He wasn't being hunted down. It was all just a dream. Just a dream.

“...He’s dead.” One simple thought. “He’s dead.” It holds so much weight in his mind. The man was dead, shot, gone. Except he wasn’t. At least not really. Sure, he was a ghost of his old self, a blue pixelated one at that. But hey, better than a knockoff, yeah? He leans back in his chair, the metal and wooden floors creaking in protest. His brow was furrowed as his thoughts swam, threatening overwhelming territory. Was this the right choice? Was this the smart choice? Everyone else’s reaction was saying no. Not that he could blame them, Jack's hurt… A lot of people. Just the sight of Caleb can hit them wrong, imagine how it must feel to see the real thing; or at least the closest to it. Especially for the CEO. Sure, he's wearing his mask again while doing favors for them, or while chatting, but does that matter when the man who did So Much to them could pop up at any time? He wasn't sure anymore. Honestly, did it matter? He knows they don’t mean the reactions they give, at least not usually. But he’s not strong willed. Maybe there's two reasons he wears that mask…
