Pascua Florida!!

I’m so excited!! It’s Pascua Florida!! 

My dad (Spain) is supposed to call me at around 14:00 his time, but I don’t know when that is for me because apparently “time zones” are a thing. They’re stupid. But it doesn’t matter, I’m taking the whole day off and going to visit some flower gardens. And maybe go to the  Ponce de León park in St. Augustine.

Oooh- When was the last time I played a prank on Puerto Rico?? If he’s not mad at me, maybe he’ll let me stop by Juan’s burial place.

I just hope the others believe me. I know usually I play pranks on them because it’s April Fools, but how can I when it’s the day my main man Juan Ponce showed up?!

I should take Sunshine with me- Dad’s calling!! Bye y’all, tell DC I’m using his card to cover any international charges!

Pascua Florida (”Feast of Flowers”) is a real state holiday in Florida, even if it’s not majorly celebrated. It falls on April 2nd, but since that is a weekend, it’s either the Friday before or Monday after. So this year it is on April first. 

It celebrates the day Juan Ponce first stepped foot in Florida. And it actually is partly where Florida’s name comes from. I’ve included a link below to a wikipedia article on the topic.

Also, personal headcanon, but Florida actually has a good relationship with Spain. The same can not be said about Spain’s relations with other countries/states. But even in canon, Florida is shown to love his “dad” and asks Gov/DC to say hi to him.
