God fucking damn it I can’t believe I have to make this fucking post because some people are so fucking dense and can’t handle a little fucking criticism.

Mental illness is already treated horribly by the 40k setting. Insanity = evil if chaos is anything to go by, and asserting that the Imperium would take a stance that any such mental instability equals chaos influence is a really bad take.

I get it? It sounds wonderfully dystopian and Just Like Something The Imperium Would Do. But think about this. It’s an incredibly dystopian society. Your workforce is already putting in hundreds of hours at the factorums and the like on their own. Faith is not nearly enough and has never been enough proven by human history to sustain a population and keep them from revolting or just being fucking depressed.

Asserting that they’d be turned into servitors or judged as being faithless is counter-intuitive to how the Imperium functions; you’d have billions of people being put to death or lobotomized by the Mechanicus on the regular just for not being “faithful enough”.

On top of that I made a point that this is directly in line with the thinking that LGBT = Slaaneshi. Just because LGBT has sexual references and a lot of talk involved with the subject does not equate to pleasure or excess. The same goes for mental illness. Just because it seems like a good reference to how Nurgle works, it’s not.

 At risk of making everyone’s brains turn off, it’s super fucking ableist. Nurgle is a god of plagues and disease, not direct illness. Everyone who gets the common cold isn’t going to be fucking shot in the face by the local commissariat because they sneezed a little too roughly(although I’m sure there’s some amusing jokes about that somewhere, that isn’t relevant right now). The same goes for mental illness. I’m well and certain normal hospital/medicae facilities exist; hell, in the Space Marine game there’s even a field triage with magos biologis and a guard medicae going at it, so medical care seems to have some standards in civilian life as well, and I’m certain that extends to mental care. Be it through therapy or just simple sermons, they wouldn’t see depression and the like as being “faithless”; rather a need to strengthen their belief more or soothe their psyche so they don’t end up falling to chaos or some other crazy shit.

On a tangential note, if you can’t handle someone giving you criticism, try not blaming your followers and getting pissy and instead maybe asking yourself if just maybe their critique is valid. Maybe try to ask questions or try to find some reason instead of stuff your head further up your ass about the subject at hand. Sometimes folks are just saying “hey yo this isn’t that great of an idea y’know?” and not “YOU ARE JUST THE WORST OH MY GOD”.
