I was today years old. That is disgusting.
No Child Left Behind is one of the worst things to ever be incentivized in schools. It was signed into law when I was 14. Reading Rainbow was my show as a kid. LeVar Burton played a big part in why I became an avid reader to date. The joy of it. It's an adventure around the globe and through different time periods without stepping on a plane or time machine.
Children parrot behavior. In grade school, I always wanted to read the same amount of books as my teachers (50 books) and managed to double that each year. Before No Child Left Behind, book fairs and Scholastic catalogs were a serious matter like your grandma's Fingerhut catalogs. Libraries were (and still are) a wonderland.
Reading comprehension and proficiency in schools has been declining for decades. A crisis. The joy of books isn't pushed anymore and I'm always saddened by it. It's one of the reasons why I post my book reviews and recommendations on here, as well as posts from others to encourage reading and (novel) writing. Kids will parrot your behavior while the education system sadly fails to return as that example.

Yeah, society fucking HATES the disabled. I keep saying it, they just want me to fuck off and die. Got bad news for them.
"low support needs disabled people are often not believed to have a disability at all and therefore struggle to get accommodations."
"high support needs disabled people's accommodations are often seen as 'too much' and therefore are not met."
"neurodivergent people's needs are often dismissed because nothing is physically wrong with them."
"physically disabled people people often cannot physically access buildings and people refuse to do anything about it."
"invisibly disabled people are seen as lazy by society."
"visibly disabled people are ostracized from society."
IT'S ALMOST LIKE THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE DISABILITY

we're not here to play the who has it worst Olympics. we're not here to play games .. we're here to ensure everyone has the support, resources, and care they need.
it is possible for someone to be 'more disabled' than you, and that's okay. all it means is that they have higher support needs and their disability disables them more than yours does.
that is not an attack on your validity as a disabled person.
that does not mean that you are not disabled.
someone else's disability has no impact on your own. there will always be someone more disabled than you. that is completely okay.

People can handle evil characters(for the most part--usually they twist their behavior and water it down) but people really can't handle good characters that lose their head or lose themselves and have a moment of fallen grace. Fandom has shown this time and time again. They really look at them as worse than the initial evil.

TW: Pedophilia
Teenagers are rarely taught the reason why they can't consent to sex with adults.
And that's because teaching them that would completely unravel our coercion-based society.
It can be difficult to explain in detail the exact reason and all the specifics in a way that they will understand. But the simplest way to phrase it is that in some cases, even when someone agrees to something and even when they appear enthusiastic about it, there's too much of a power imbalance that it's no different than forcing them. Also, having power and being abusive doesn't require a conscious expectation to be obeyed.
Imagine a world in which every teenager understood that and was easily able to call out anyone who tried to convince them otherwise.
They'd know that there's no such thing as an employee consenting to working for a poverty wage, working in unsafe conditions, working long hours, or working without taking breaks. They'd know that there's no such thing as consenting to paying a bank overdraft fee. They'd know that there's no such thing as consenting to student loan debt. They'd know that there's no such thing as consenting to medical bills. They'd know that there's no such thing as consenting to generating profit for banks or landlords in order to have a place to live and being evicted or foreclosed when you lose your source of income. They'd know that there's no such thing as consenting to a police search. They'd know that there's no such thing as a child who's okay with their parents spanking them. They'd know that being dependent on someone does not mean that you can never criticize them. They'd know that if it's considered abusive to simply play along when someone obeys, then it has to be much more abusive to actively expect to be obeyed, which many adults do to them.
And people who benefit from a society based on coercion masquerading as freedom wouldn't like that.
So instead, teenagers are taught something dismissive. They're taught that what they want doesn't matter. They're taught that they're too young to know what love is. They're taught "it's the law". They're taught things that are insulting to their intelligence, which they'll naturally rebel against.

You simply cannot expect intersex people to constantly center perisex feelings and ignorance in their discussion. Yes, the H slur is an actual slur, even when used to describe intersex and cosexed animals. Yes, intersex people are oppressed. Yes, they're often medically abused, not "given treatment denied to trans people". No, they're not "biologically nonbinary" and yes, they can be any gender just like perisex people. Many "treatments" for intersex variants hinge upon not what is best for the person's body and needs but what will make them appear perisex. To imply any of this is false is intersexist and to try to center your own worldview and feelings in a conversation about someone else's lived experiences is selfish and equally bigoted. If you are not intersex, the discussion is not and cannot be expected to be about your opinions and worldviews.

Full offense, but it's far more heinous to prevent INFANTS from HAVING FOOD than it is to steal formula in order for your (or anyone's) baby to eat.
Like... if you cannot afford food. If you cannot afford formula. There is no shame in stealing it.
There is CONSIDERABLE SHAME in a system which oppresses many people unto unbearable poverty, in a world with plenty to go around.
It is a crying goddamn shame that hunger is such a problem in this world. We have the resources. We. Have. Enough.
It's just all concentrated and hoarded at the top.
So no, I'm not going to demonize some poor parent for what they have to do in order to feed their baby. Feeding babies is a moral necessity. They didn't ask to be here. They had no say in how they got here. They should never know hunger for want of money.
And I swear to fuck, if you come into this post saying SHIT about "well their parents should have thought of that before--" NO. SHUT UP.
We do not fucking slut-shame, we do not PUNISH people for having sex. No matter the circumstances, no matter whether they had a say or not -- and you may never know whether the act was consensual! -- no matter whether you approve of their relationship or not! And we most certainly do not PUNISH CHILDREN for simply being BORN.
Which is what the formula being locked away boils down to. You would rather children -- BABIES -- go hungry than lose a little money, while you sit comfortable and warm, with a full belly? Choke on your money.

If you're in the US military or National Guard, and are given an illegal or unconstitutional order, the GI Rights hotline (1-877-447-4487) is there to help give you the support you need to do the right thing by refusing it. It would be good to think about this now before it becomes a live issue for you and it would be smart of you to memorize that number.
