Background:  According to PSU’s Campus Public Safety Office (CPSO), CPSO has only added two officers since 1976, but PSU’s enrollment has doubled since then. PSU has 1 Special Campus Security Officer per 2000 students, whereas the national average is 3.6 Sworn Police Officers per 2000 students. CPSO has proposed changes to their office that would add a sworn police force. University of Oregon recently added a sworn police force to their campus that is unarmed. When asked if CPSO is seeking a similar structure, Chief Zerzan stated that police in Oregon and the U.S. are armed.
Objective:  ASPSU believes that students should be involved in the decisions that affect them. Please fill out the survey below to let us know what you want to see from CPSO in the future.
